Mission 99: The Dreams of Songs Gone Past

Captain Rabb sighed softly as he sat in his chair, while he regarded the PADD in his hands. He had three more people to deal with today from the JAD cases that had been uncovered a year ago and the eleven people he had dealt with yesterday were cakewalks compared to these three people. "Well. I guess we're saving the worst for last." Rabb sighed as he leaned forward then he tapped the display once. "Rab to Com Center. Could you get me Major Daisy Rohr-McKnight? I need to speak with her when she is free."
"Right away Captain." came the answer while Rabb settled in to wait.
"This is Major Rohr. What can I help you with Captain?" Daisy replied in a cautious voice.
Rabb regarded the Klingon female before him. "Well. I have a matter to resolve with Gunnery Sergent Werner. I understand he is assigned to your command?" he inquired. "Someone made a complaint regarding the matters that he had to deal with, the evidence was damning, but not against the Gunnery Sergent, Illegal actions were taken and I've been asked to handle this matter and after having read the Gunny's file. Yes, it seems that various people have been using him as their own personal punching bag." Rabb explained himself to the female before him.
Rabb's words piqued Daisy's interest. "Illegal, how?"
Rabb regarded her. "You might recall that the Gunny was sent to the stockade for disobeying orders," he commented. "A 2nd Lieutenant Johaan Piterzoon was the one who filed the charges and he was supported by a Staff Sergeant Cole Devon, This was after Piterzoon threatened to kill Werner if he didn't follow his orders." There was something rather snide in Rabb's tone. "Oh I got enough on these two failures to lock them away until the end of time and I will be dealing with those two issues." as he gave her a rather malicious smile. "But I do need to speak with the Gunny so he is aware of all of this."
"I thought Piterzoon was shot by Werner?" Daisy asked.
"Wait, when did this happen?" Rabb inquired in a gentle tone as he tried not to smile. He failed, however as he regarded the Klingon female before him.
"From what I know, it was during the attack on the Borg. Piterzoon pointed his weapon at Werner. Werner got up his rile and shot him first. The Piterzoon that filed the complaint is the elder Piterzoon, the father." Daisy explained.
Rabb nodded, processing the details in his mind. "Well, that explains a lot," he commented. "So Werner had cause to defend himself and the elder Piterzoon
is a civilian, why those charges were upheld in the first place is something I will have to look into," he commented, a soft growl could be heard as he said as much. "Sounds like one of my colleagues was sucking up to someone." he paused. "Those charges should never have been permitted to stick in the first place. So Werner is owed a great deal."
"So should we bring him in?" Daisy asked.
"Please do Major," Rabb responded with a cheery smile.
Daisy moved to the door and called Werner in. Werner looked a bit reluctant as he sat down in front of Rabb. "Hello, Captain. What is it you want to know?"
"Good Morning Gunny. Well as to why I asked for you, let me explain why I'm bothering you on this fine day." Rabb seemed very pleased and happy, always a good thing. "Someone sent in a complaint last year, about yourself and over a dozen others, the accusation was damning but it was not against you, only about you, whoever this person was, he or she knew details about your life and events that few would have access to," Rabb explained.
Rabb paused a moment before he continued. "I have my list of who I think leaked it but she is proving to be a very crafty individual." Rabb grinned. "I also owe her a drink too... But in your case, it was regarding what happened to you being sent to the stockade."
Rabb paused a second time. "Why those charges were allowed to stick is beyond me, it's disgraceful that one of my colleges would permit this, as civilians do not get to bring charges against military personnel, that's my job. Not theirs," he explained slowly so as not to overwhelm Werner all at once.
Rabb focused his attention squarely on Werner. "What this means for you is that the charges against you are being erased from your service record and no longer exist, also you will be issued a commendation for dealing with this shit and for your excellent service to date." he smiled. "Also as Devon Cole is now listed as a traitor to the Federation. I'm going to enjoy dropping him into a black hole. As for Piterzoon the elder, I've asked the Starfleet Defense Forces to look into him, regarding abuse of authority and the like. Besides I got enough on him to lock him away for the next thousand years.." Rabb smiled at Werner. "Your record will be cleared of all of this crap, and you also have my personal respect, for being reasonable in an unreasonable situation Gunny. I wish more marines had your attitude."
Rabb added. "Also General Johnson and General Solusar also have been informed of these events. They will be very pleased with all of this."
"Thank you, Captain. That means a lot to me." Werner replied. "So does that mean my record is cleared?"
"Absolutely, it will be cleansed of the taint of imbeciles, traitors and cowards. Effective immediately." Rabb answered with a smile. "Congratulations Gunny, I wish I had your ability to remain calm and composed in absurd situations. A lot of people could learn from your example." he smiled. "Thank you, Gunny."
Wener laughed. "Well if we meet a couple of years ago you wouldn't be saying that. To be honest, I wanted to fight the world. Starting with Star Fleet."
"I wouldn't blame you Gunny," Rabb answered. "Had I been in your shoes, I would have too."
"It's nice of you to say that," Werner told Rabb. "So now what? Do I get to keep my position?"
"You do. You might even get job offers for other postings but I will leave such things to you to decide on as you see fit Gunny." Rabb answered. "I can't comment on Marine ranks and the like but you might see the Sergeant Majors rank in your future, since the issues you had, have been expunged with extreme prejudice," he added.
"Thank you, Captain, but as I'm already due for Master Sergeant I'll keep my rank. Besides, I kinda like it here." Werner replied.
"As I said, I'll leave that with you to decide Gunny, as you deem fit," Rabb answered with a smile. "Anyway, that's all I wanted you for. I'll get outta here and let you get on with the rest of your day. Rabb out." and with that, the Federation wreath emblem appeared on the screen as it went black with blue text saying only "transmission ended."
Daisy looked at Werner. "The duty roster is light today. Why don't you take the day off and enjoy yourself, Master Sergeant."
"Is that an order, Major?"
Daisy smiled at Werner. "Yes, it is."
