Mission 6: Q-ualty Time
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 400
Timeline: 1300Hrs - February 14th, 2389
Cadet Savannah Yamaguchi had managed to get herself somewhat cleaned up so now she looked somewhat presentable as her son slept in his bassinet
nearby where she could reach over and touch him as she so often did, she smiled as she looked at him as he turned his head to look at the source of
noise that had bothered him.
His eyes were a brilliant blue as Savannah smiled down at her newborn son as she heard the doorbell beep as she was in one of the recovery rooms.
"Come in." she called out
The door opened and it was indeed one of the nurses.
Sarah had her dark hair pulled back, it had been in a ponytail for the party, but then she added some pins to put it up for work. It was currently in a loose bun high on the back of her head. She wore her usual smile.
Sarah's smiled widened as she took in the woman and her child. "ooh, he is a charmer. Look at those eyes!" she gushed, "what a handsome fellow." before she turned to Savannah Yamaguchi. "I am Ensign Sarah Ashley. I will be your nurse for the next few hours. How are you feeling? Are you thirsty? Warm enough?" She asked as she glanced at the biobed readout, marking on her report.
"Cadet Savannah Yamaguchi," Celeste responded. "I'm feeling a bit groggy but that's because I realized how uncomfortable biobeds were." the younger woman commented with a smile. "I'm a tad thirsty, could I get something to drink please.... something other then water though..." she wanted something with flavour. "Its actually quite nice in here... not too hot and not too cold." she explained. "a nice change from Starfleet Medical which half the time is like a freezer."
Sarah nodded and added with a chuckle, “That’s true it is a tried and true method for making people get better, they can’t wait to get up and get out, to get warm again.” She then laughed at her own joke. “How about some juice? Do you have a preference? Tart? Tangy? Sweet?”
She marked in the chart that Savannah was groggy and thirsty, but not cold. The first two were to be expected, the last was a warning sign. It wasn’t that the medical staff didn’t trust the biobed’s, it was just good to have an expert eye on things such as potentially high blood loss, in case. “Would you like something to help you sleep? I could double-check with the doctor.”
"Some Orange punch would be downright heavenly." Savannah responded "and I've been sleeping for the last twelve hours.." she added. "The other nurses have been looking after Gideon for me... wonderful guys and gals, every one of them."
Sarah smiled as the baby cooed. “Well, you are both a delight." She wiggled her fingers at Gideon. "yes, you are!" she said to him, laughing when his eyebrows scrunched together. "He is still trying to figure out what the hell happened!" She glanced at Savannah, "Everything seems good here. I will go get you your juice.”
She left the mother and child, transferring the data from her padd into the official medical records. Then she retrieved the punch and took it to Savannah. “Here you go.” She set the glass on the tray, “Need anything else?”
"Not at the moment... thanks Sarah." as Yamaguchi lifted the glass to her lips and took a sip. "Mmm..."
Sarah paused at the door, “he really is a charmer. Ring if you need me.” She smiled and left the room, almost running into Lt. Cmdr. Yamaguchi on the way out. She smiled and nodded a greeting as she stepped out of the Commander’s way and headed for the nurses’ station. She bet that Yamaguchi was pleased about her grandson.
Torilla almost crashed into one of the nurses who was checking on Savannah as she gently helped to steady the other woman. "Hi. is she able to have visitors?"
"Yes, they have been cleared for visitors now." Sarah smiled and headed for the nurse's station. There she logged in the visitor on the records and looked to see who was next on her stop.
Torilla smiled at the smaller woman. "Thank you, Nurse.." she commented as she watched Ensign Ashley depart as she knocked on the door, the call from inside responded as Torilla opened the door as she smiled. "Hi sweetie."
"Hey Mom.." Savannah always called Torilla 'mom' and Torilla didn't care as she regarded Savannah as if she was her own as she regarded her sleeping infant as he slept next to her as Torilla came over to see to Savannah's needs. "Are they feeding you properly in this place?"
"Its not bad... not filling but its not bad."
"Well... don't you worry too much... I'm putting together a get together of the family to welcome Gideon.." she smiled down at Savannah who smiled back. "Sounds good... lots of food I assume?." she inquired of the older woman before her.
"Oh yes.." Savannah's smile widened. She had missed her mothers cooking and it showed.
