Mission:
Mission 6: Q-ualty Time
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 400
Timeline: 0915Hrs - January 29th, 2389
“Q!” Mike replied. “You really think he’s behind this? He hasn't tormented
a Starfleet crew like this in years. The last time I saw him, he dressed as Santa Clause and brought Christmas gifts for the Pegasus’s crew. Then he was reported aboard USS Voyager again with his ‘son’, Q2. Again, none of the mischief he was known for aboard the Enterprise-D after his initial encounters.”
“Starfleet has also encountered other beings with Q-Like powers in the
past…but nothing in recent memory, and nothing like this within the last
century.” K’Temoc added.
“Sorry to interrupt, but we just had a report of ‘Dinosaur’ in the
Arboretum.” Roebuck informed Bremer.
Mike shook his head, turned around and yelled, “Q!! Stop this nonsense!”
Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow as she slowly turned her head. "Guys.... we're not alone..."
A few moments later, Ops lite up with a blue/white flash as an older Human
looking man in a crisp Starfleet Uniform appeared. He clearly wasn't the Q
they all knew and/or read about.
Bremer looked the figured up and down, and noticed the pips on his collar.
It was six gold Admiral’s pips, but of course there was no such rank in Starfleet. Fleet Admiral was the highest Rank in Starfleet, and that was five gold pips.
For Yamaguchi, she narrowed her eyes as she all but growled angrily at Q. "I should have known it was you!" she looked downright enraged as Q sighed. "My dear.." and with that her uniform turned into something more appropriate for one of Santa's little helpers, it was a red elfish costume as
Torilla realized with a sigh that her uniform was suddenly much lighter then it had been before. "enough Q.!"
“Are you responsible for the…incidents aboard my Station?” Mike directly
asked.
The figure smiled and tilted his head, “Hmm, you could say that. I’m
Q…well not Q, but Q…ah you get the idea.”
Deela cringed with the thought of dealing with any Q-like being. It wasn't the Q she knew but just as obnoxious.
Jewel was finally able to get out of her office as she walked to the turbo lift, "Ops," she stated as the lift began to move. Then the left began to move and the moments later the doors opened. She was about ready to ask what was going on when she seen Mike talking to someone she hadn't seen before.
Sevlek stepped off of the turbolift and instantly saw Q, no, not that Q. "What are you doing aboard this station, Q?"
A hearty laugh was the immediate response. "Oh! What joy, Admiral Pointy Ears is aboard this station too!" He sauntered closer to the Vulcan, "How have you been Sevvie?"
Deela touched the tips of her ears and decided to step back, hoping to avoid the same reference to her ears as well.
Sevlek raised an eyebrow, "I will ask again, what are you doing aboard this station?"
Yamaguchi raised a shapely eyebrow as she too had pointed ears, she let out a sigh as she looked from her station to the Q being who was standing before her as something here wasn't right and then it hit her, he was bored with everything and demanded to be entertained, she could feel the raw power of Q and needless to say, she could feel the fight or flight instinct kicking in as she did not move, the iron discipline of twenty years of Starfleet service caused her feet to not move.
=Marine Barracks=
In the Marine Barracks, Master sergeant Duval was playing a game of cards, as he regarded the three other players before him, one of them was known for making large bets and the second was known for bluffing.
Marcus was sat in his room with his feet up on his desk reading and eating an apple. He was smiling and laughing to himself, the door next to him was open and every now and again one of the marines walked past and into the barracks. His room was part of the barracks but being a senior NCO he had a private room all to himself. He looked round at the marines in the barracks who were all just sat around passing time, polishing boots, reading like he was or sat playing card games.
His console beeped and with his apple in his mouth, his book in his right hand he reached across and tapped it with his left hand. The computer spoke in its usual mono-toned voice.
"Full alert, full alert, boarding pods inbound" said the computer in a calm voice.
Marcus threw his book on the table and stood up knocking his chair over, he grabbed his jacket and spat his apple into the trash receptacle. As he exited the room he hit the big red button. The shutters on the armory sprung open and the red lights around the room started to flash. Marines clambered from their bunks throwing on the battle gear and running for the door, each one grabbing a rifle as he ran past the armory.
Duval roared. "Saddle up Marines, we got incoming fire!" as he pulled on his gear.
Marcus had put on his full battle gear ready for a fight, he watched the Marines working fast and quietly as they was trained to do and he felt proud of them all. Anxious for the up coming battle but proud his men we're ready. He watched the last of them in full battle gear which was reminiscent of 20th century riot gear. They charged through the door but as they passed the threshold the battle gear vanished and each was stood in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt holding a coconut drink with little umbrellas.
Duval blinked as he looked at his drink, it was a cocktail glass of one of his wife's infamous concoctions. "What..... wait... No.."
Marcus looked confused, but more over he was angry. He stepped through the door ready to chastise the marines.
Duval heard the First Seargeant opej his mouth to start as he angrily turned to snap something back at him as he watched the other man disappear. "What the hell!"
"You bunch of ...." he passed the threshold but instead of ending up in the corridor outside the marine barracks he was stood in Ops looking at the Ops crew and assembled officers. He took his helmet off and looked around the room confusion, he caught a reflection of himself in a display and realized he was naked. Quickly he covered his private parts with his helmet, he'd hadn't been naked or even semi naked in public since he picked up so many battle scars and burns on his body. The medical staff said they could cover them up or remove them but he wanted them as they reminded him of the people he'd lost and the battles he'd been in. Marcus didn't say anything he just shrugged ensuring he kept himself covered.
"Sir.. what's going on?" one of the privates asked.
"Don't ever call me sir, ever again... I make myself clear private!" Duvall snapped back loudly.
"Yes Sargent." the chastised man responded.
"Master Sergeant, We got the Call... Q is screwing with us."
"Alright, everyone stand down... stand down... we're not playing his games.."
he tapped his combadge. "Duval to all marines... stand down.... If you encounter Q, do not acknowledge him, no matter the cost... ignore him, that is a direct order." he sighed as he realized the com system was out. "Guys, go pass the word, all rooms and all sections. Q is screwing with us."
"Sir, brass wants us out patrolling the base, all vital areas." the call came in about ten seconds later after he sent out his guys. "Alright, then lets do it... Tip out the entire Division, every man and woman we got not nailed down, I want them all in gear and boots on the line..... I also wanted it done yesterday, move it out!"
"Yessir!" as the man tapped the com system "General Quarters, General Quarters, All Marines prepare for Combat Duty."
Duval went into his private room as he sighed softly. "We march valiantly into battle, dear friends, now is the hour where we draw swords at last." he commented to nobody as he proceeded to strip and then he quickly proceeded to don his armor, this he slid his katana into the scabbard on his back and his kaybar into its sheath on his chest, where it belonged as he considered how best to give out the orders that he knew needed to be given out.
With Colonel Hurd and Sergeant Major Pepper elsewhere, it fell to him to handle it until Lennox or someone else showed up but this had never stopped or slowed him down before, he always brought that 'can do' attitude with him anywhere he went.
To be on light duty a few days and not be aware.... Well Phoenix was slightly aware of the the station acting funny. Mid-romp with a excessively beautiful, off-duty trill engineer, both she and Phoenix's partner looked out their port window to see a planet almost crash into them.
Then poof! Back to normal. That was when her wing XO commed her.
=^= Wing is to be on alert status, Phoenix. Q is messing with us. =^=
Phoenix rolled her eyes and wanted to hit Jojo for interrupting. Because her Trill playmate rolled out of bed and picked up his clothes. Then he walked out of the room.
=^= Well you tell the wing that their orders is to play in the rec room. We aren't deploying any birds, Jojo. =^=
Joo came back with an uneasy rebuttal. =^= Brass says the station is in danger. =^=
=^= Brass has come across this omnipotent irritant several times. And each time, playing Q's game ended badly... So the wing does nothing. Ignore a bratty toddler having a tantrum long enough, they shut up. Phoenix out.
