Posted on Tue Mar 17th, 2020 @ 2:20am by Lieutenant Commander Ouros Yamaguchi & 1st Lieutenant T'Kera "Demolitions" Duval & 1st Lieutenant McElroy Sternwald III & Gunnery Sergeant Olga Vaal

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Lo Zhou Depression
Timeline: 0500Hrs - June 4th, 2393

The second company, or 'B Company, was drawn up in formation. They were in complete combat load including armor and weapons. Well, most of them were. Some of the marines were missing armor and others were missing weapons. There were also deficient in other things such as ammo pouches and first aid kits. They had just finished a readiness drill. They were called out of their barracks and were suppose to be flown to Star Base 47. Instead, they were flown to an empty desert. In the darkness of early morning 1st, Lieutenant Sternwald stood in front of the formation with a scowl across his aloof face.

"Do you know how long you took?" Sternwald asked in a very accusatory fashion. "Three hours! Three long hours! We need to be ready in fifteen minutes. Some of you don't have the right equipment. Any of you so called professionals want to tell me why we aren't prepared." he fumed.

"Well for one we weren't put on a reaction status. That's why it took us so long." Olga explained. "Second, we are building an entire division from scratch. We simply haven't received the weapons or equipment we need yet. Hell, most of the company hasn't been here a week yet. We haven't had a chance to train together yet." the older female looked annoyed.

Sternwald turned red as he barely contained his anger. "Well, you seem to have ready-made excuses don't you Gunny?" He sniped at Vaal. "Any of you so called officers have anything to say?" He turned his attention to the other platoon leaders.

Duval rolled her eyes at him. "Considering the Gunny is correct, we've only just got here in the last week or so, many positions in my own unit are empty as the marines are still in transit." the younger Vulcan looking female explained. "How do we do anything without the troops to fight with." the Vulcan-human female looked concerned.

Ouros Yamaguchi, however, was much more direct and far more crude on the subject. "How about you shut the fuck up?" she inquired. "I mean really.. With your yapping on about stupid shit, its a wonder the whole fucking planet doesn't know we're here, maybe if you actually did something... I dunno. something really worth our time?" the tall female explained in a snide tone of voice, her body language said that she didn't care.

Sternwald's eyes almost burst from his face at Ouros' words."You forget your place Lieutenant. I'm in charge here." He then returned his attention to the company as a whole. "We are going on a cross-country march. Our destination is 100 kilometers to the west at Mesquite Station. The last platoon to arrive will face consequences."

"We can't do a march. We don't have the supplies, especially water. You do understand that we need to stay hydrated, don't you stupid?" Olga asked.

"I hope you come in last, Gunny. That will give me enough to chapter you out of Star Fleet. I don't care about supplies. You will use you survival training to find anything you need. You people need to stop being soft civilians and start to act like you belong in Star Fleet." Sternwald stated.

Ouros simply laughed at him. "Its people like you that get people like me, killed," she explained as she smiled. "Fine, then get started. We have the gear and supplies for a force of half our number. I think you want to get us killed and if you do, well. Then that will be a problem."

Duval raised an eyebrow as she regarded the much larger female. "Sternwald. I think you are just being an asshole for the sake of it." she commented.

Sternwald laughed at Duval. "What's the matter? Your daddy can't get you out of this?" Sternwald asked in a mocking tone. "And don't try your comm badges, they don't work."

Ouros suddenly grinned as she lifted her minicannon as if it weighed nothing. "Oh good. No worries then." she then pulled the trigger but nothing happened. "Oh dear, I think I missed." as the massive female suddenly added. "Do you feel in charge?" Ouros inquired. "And this gives you power.. over me?" she then seemed to smile brightly.

Sternwald said nothing as he was surprised at Ouros' aggressive behavior. He just turned and walked off into the night.

"Well, this is special. I tried my comm badge. It's dead. Anyone have any idea?" Olga asked.

Ouros growled softly. "We've been brought here and we have no way to get home, it seems that we are to play your little game." and with that. Ouros yanked out the dead power cell and replaced it with a new cell, suddenly her minicannon came to life before she suddenly took aim at Sternwald's retreating form but she didn't fire.

Duval checked her own weapon, it too had a dead power cell. "My weapon is dead," she commented as she replaced the power cell while several other marines also reported their issues. We only got enough power cells for half the number." Ouros commented evenly. "Sternwald, what game are you playing?" she inquired loudly. "If one marine gets hurt because of you, I will bury you here in these sands.." Ouros yelled loudly.

If Sternwald heard Duval it was unclear as he just walked off into the distance.

"Ouros, can you put that weapon away, please?" Olga asked. "Right now we need to think of our people. We need to get them food and more importantly, water. And as much as I would like to kill Sternwald, that won't solve our other problems."

Ouros slowly slung her minicannon onto her back. "Alright, everyone, grab the ammo and the gear, we need to get moving," she commented as she lifted a large pack. "Did anyone know where we were going to be dropped?" she inquired.

"I was just getting ready to conduct company physical fitness. I had no idea that idiot would drop us off here." Olga replied.

Many others heard her question and as Ouros had expected, she got a lot of answers saying no, they did not know where they were going to be dropped off. "Alright. Since we're all together, we treat this as a survival exercise, ignore Sternwald as he's just marched off into the desert anyway." she paused. "First thing we'll need is water and since its more or less high noon with little shelter from the sun. Let's find some shelter quick and conserve water." she paused. "How much water do we have overall?" she inquired.

"My platoon has enough water for one day. My guys only have a few snacks between them." Olga replied. "I also think we should jettison any unneeded gear."

Ouros nodded. "I have some extra rations that I'll donate to the cause," she commented. "I always pack extra food and water," she added. "I have enough for one person for six days," she added. "Anyone got any extra food and water?" Ouros called out. "Anyone got any extra kit they don't need or want?, see that it's lost. we'll pile it here and then bury it."

"If anyone is hoarding food or water they will be punished," Olga told Ouros. "We need to start moving west to try and reach that town. I also want to send out Corporal McCord to follow Sternwald."

"Okay, send him." she paused as she handed Olga the extra canteen she was carrying. "I have a bad feeling about this, I'm the only one who seems to be carrying anything extra." she paused. "Okay guys, gather 'round. Huddle!" she paused as the Marines did as asked. "Okay, it's clear to us all by now that this was not the formation drill we were expecting. We're all in trouble here, we have no food and limited water so we need to conserve what we do have. If anyone can find any underground streams then great. But watch yourselves and each other. We're out in the woods with nothing. We don't know the terrain or the lifeforms here. So look after one another. Also, if anyone has anything they wanna say, then speak up, ideas, comments or complaints, I want them all." she paused. "We need to work together if we are going to survive this, We'll find somewhere and hole up until the sun goes down, then we'll deal with the issues before us, any engineers among us?" she inquired.

Bug spoke up. "No the engineers are still on Four Seven helping out there. I'm just curious, none of us knew Sternwald was going to pull this. How come you got all these supplies with you? Are you some kind of survival freak or are you working with Sternwald?" He asked.

"Neither," Yamaguchi answered. "I've been in battle in my home reality. I'm used to officers trying to fuck me in various ways, Sternwald is blunter than most but he's still the same issue that I've dealt with for years. He is why I pack all my extra kit." she answered. "I expect trouble so I came prepared and no. I am not working with him. If I were, why would I be here trying to lead all of you?"

"I don't know. Sternwald is kind of a dick. He dipped his testicles into my coffee once so I really don't like him." Bug replied.

"I heard about that incident. Sternwald is like some of the officers I've dealt with before." Ouros commented. "Nothing is new in this reality, nothing has changed and nothing is really new." she then shrugged. "Alright, we need to find shelter first to get out of this sun and heat."

"May I first recommend we ditch our armor. We aren't going to have much use for it." Olga suggested.

"Yes, guys, ditch anything you don't need or want, but those with sidearms, keep them. Just in case we run into some exotic lifeforms that we've not accounted for yet." Ouros called out. "We need shelter ASAP." she let out a sigh. "Alright, lets do this!"
