Mission:
Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1030Hrs - September 22nd, 2393
Colonel Edward Yeager was wearing civilian clothing as he was technically still on leave for another week or so before he would go and pick up his orders, it was the same with his wife and their children except that Yeager had been assured that Starfleet, more rather than the Starfleet of this reality, liked to try and keep married couples together on the same assignments. He found it odd but he was not about to protest the notion of allowing families to remain together or argue that he did not wish to have time with his wife and children while he was on assignment. Beside him was his wife as the two of them moved down the hallway towards the officer's lounge, it was somewhere where the two of them had been going for breakfast recently rather than on the Starbase plaza.
Heather Yeager was also wearing civilian clothing as she regarded her spouse. "You know, I can almost hear you thinking..." she commented aloud.
Yeager smiled. "Can that be a bad thing?" he inquired of his wife.
"Perhaps." Heather gave her husband a look that could have meant many things as she simply smiled. "Hello Lieutenant." she nodded to the young woman wearing command red who was standing at the doorway, she held a PADD in her delicate-looking hands, but what was odd about her was that she had the look of a Klingon in her, but she looked more like a human then a Klingon, she was a product of someone else's relationship in the past. "Colonel, Commander. We meet at last." the young woman explained. "I'm your niece, sir. Well, one of them at any rate. Melody is around here somewhere, as is Monique. They will want to meet you as well."
For Yeager, this was a major revelation. "My niece..." he paused as he suddenly understood who this young woman was. "You must be Samantha Yeager." he paused. "Davijaan told me of you... You look just like my Sammy..." he paused as he let out a sigh.
Sammy nodded her head at the first statement he said to her. "I am... Wait you had a daughter named Sammy?"
"I did... But..." Yeager paused as he quickly decided that the young woman before him did not need to be burdened with the infomation of what happened to his Sammy and her passing. "She and I had issues which were never resolved before the Borg came." he then shrugged. "Now I will never get the chance to resolve those issues..."
"We're about to have something to eat, would you like to join us, Samantha?" Heather inquired of the other woman, she had been waiting for Heather and Edward, of that she was sure.
"Sure," Samantha answered quietly. "Dad mentioned you to me, he also recommended that I seek you out as I have a new uncle and aunt and I should get to know them," the younger woman explained with a nod of her head. "The nature of family can sometimes be the biggest challenges we can face and know."
"Indeed." Heather smiled as her approach to the entrance to the lounge, triggered the door sensors, the three entered the lounge as Samantha smiled. "I don't often eat in here..." she commented aloud.
"I can't say I blame you, this place often tends to be crowded at most hours of the day," Edward explained with a nod as he got into the lineup for the replicators, thankfully the lineup was short and moments went by as the small group went over to a table as Samantha sat down, both Yeagers did likewise.
The three of them settled down to eat their food in silence, this only reinforced Edward's opinion that Sammy was a lot like his daughter that he had lost.
Samantha was the last to finish her repast of food that she had ordered from the replicator, as the door opened and in walked a tall but slender female wearing Engineering orange. Lt Commander Monique Deepshadow had inherited many of her looks from her father but some from her mother as she spotted her quarry. She slowly moved into the lounge and over to the table. "Hello," she announced herself.
Both Yeagers looked up at the strange woman as they didn't know her. Sammy however simply smiled at the other woman that she shared a parent with. "Guys, this is Monique Deepshadow, Dad's other daughter... Monique, meet Heather and Edward." as she handled the introductions. Edward and Heather both rose to their feet.
Deepshadow slowly smiled as she regarded the two people before her that she didn't know. "Its good to meet you both." as she gently shook hands with both.
Edward indicated the forth chair across from him, which Deepshadow slid her lithe form into. "Yeah. I can argue I was a late delivery from Avalon," she commented with a gentle smile.
"You didn't know that Davijaan was your dad?" Heather inquired, a gentle smile on her lips.
"No," Monique answered with a gentle smile. "Dad and I... Our relationship is a gentle affair because I always wondered who he was, yet I never knew him until I was an adult, but I always wondered. Mom never told me... But I always wondered." as she let out a soft sigh.
"There is something special about a girl's relationship with her dad," Heather explained with a gentle smile. "I wish my dad and I got along better... I hated the fact he made various demands of me that were downright unreasonable. It was because he thought of me as a mistake." she admitted. "How did things go when you and Davijaan met....?"
"It was something of an accident... I went into the Medcenter one day and asked for a DNA test to be ran against anyone in Starfleet. The answer was almost instant... Davijaan Yeager was serving on the Dreamcrusher, the ship I was on... So I took a few moments to process the news." Deepshadow explained as she recalled the events in question. Deepshadow smiled as she nodded. "I got the infomation on the PADD and I decided I needed to deal with this now... Otherwise, I wouldn't have the courage to do it. Y'know, ten reasons why not to do it and one reason to do it... I figured I had nothing left to lose." as she recalled the meeting. "He was polite and he accepted what I had to say at face value. He was gentle and I wish I had taken the time to process what I was dealing with so I kinda had a mini-breakdown in front of him," she explained. "He was so kind and so gentle on the matter... I wasn't sure of what to think..." Deepshadow paused. "I mean I didn't know what he would think of me... A strange woman from out of the ether claiming to be his daughter. I mean honestly, think about it. It just sounds insane... Even to my ears, it sounded nuts..."
Yeager smiled, he nodded his head, as he was enthralled with the story being told by the handsome woman before him. It was also clear that she was nothing like the Monique he had known, she had been a spoilt child but this woman seemed like a real joy to have around.
Heather Yeager grinned as she listened to the story, except Sammy frowned as she tapped her ear. "Excuse me a moment." she commented as the part Klingon female rose to her feet and moved off a distance, "No John I didn't give you permission to-" was what Deepshadow and the Yeagers head before Sammy moved out of voice range.
