"Doctor Shepard has been waiting for you, he wants to meet our new crew members personally." the Shen answered, her fingers gently tapped the display before her a few times. "The Doctor is on his way, would you mind taking a seat please, sir?" she indicated the area with a gentle wave of her hand.
"Of course, come on girls." and with that, Antilles led his charges over to the large seating area nearby. Kosleht hoisted herself into a chair before she closed her eyes, within moments she was asleep as Khalest hoisted herself up into the next chair to her sibling. Antilles raised an eyebrow. "Do you two have that ability?"
"We didn't have a choice but to develop it..." Khalest answered in a quiet tone of voice. "Klingons tend to prey on those weaker than themselves."
"That's why we are here girls, you make sure that nothing is wrong with you... Pain is not your friend, despite what you might have been told," Antilles explained, meanwhile a set of double doors opened and out came a rather handsome looking human male wearing a Doctors uniform with the lab coat.
He nodded to the breathtakingly beautiful Andorian Shen standing behind the desk. "You called for me?" he inquired with a smile on his lips. "What's up?"
"Colonel Antilles is here with his two new children, they are right over there Doctor."
"Thanks, Anan. I'll take it from here." Shepard commented before he moved over to where Antilles was presently sitting down. "Colonel?" he inquired of the man before him. "I'm Doctor Shepard and I will be the one looking after you and your two children..." he paused. "Is she ... asleep?"
"Yep. Klingons like picking on weaker people than themselves." Antilles explained. "So they sleep when one is able.."
"Barbaric practice." Shepard knew of where he was speaking. "Well, I'm ready to go whenever you are sir."
"Okay, come on girls. Kosleht?" he was rewarded as the Klingon girl's eyes flickered open, she nodded. "Yes?. Oh." as she hopped out of her chair and followed the Antilles and her sibling into the main sickbay area. The place looked to be enormous with hallways that seemed to go on forever. "Stay close girls," Antilles commented in a light tone of voice. Shepard led them down the hallway and then down a much narrower side hallway, the four people walked into an examination room shortly. "Okay, now that we're here... Take a seat on the bed girls and I will begin." Shepard smiled. "Firstly, my name is Derek and I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have, okay... I promise this won't hurt at all."
The two Klingon girls, both said nothing as Antilles sat down in a chair. "I have to be here, the regs require that a parent or guardian is present for everything that happens."
"Is the paperwork for that in order?" Shepard asked of Antilles.
"It is." Antilles handed the Doctor a PADD. Shepard accepted it and gave it the once over, before re-reading it, much more slowly this time. "Ahh... Okay then." Shepard answered as he picked up his medkit. "Alright girls... This will be a coming-aboard physical, so I need to do several scans of you, to make sure that you're not carrying anything odd. Parasites and old wounds, anything that might indicate problems. It's for your benefit really... I will draw two vials of blood from each of you and I'll send them to the lab for tests... You won't feel anything I promise."
Antilles noted that Shepard thought he was dealing with humans children, Klingons were much more reserved and stoic, rather than emotional and easily frightened. "Proceed as you think best Doctor," Khalest spoke in a quiet voice. "We will cause no issues." as she watched him proceed with his work, neither she or her sibling spoke during the entire time the meeting was going on.
Soon they were finished as Shepard smiled. "You two have, without question been the most well-behaved patients I have ever had the privilege of having. Many could learn much from you two."
Khalest smiled. "Thank you, Doctor... You took away my pain..."
"Ahh, your arm issue... How long had that bothered you?"
"Almost three days... I think. I was caught up in a fight... I didn't think it worth mentioning." the five-year-old answered in a flat tone of voice.
Antilles turned to regard her. "That's now how we operate, if something hurts, tell us and we can get it fixed for you."
"The Federation is very different than the Empire... Its all very strange..." Khalest answered in a quiet tone of voice.
"Yeah, we don't abuse our own..." Antilles answered before he turned back to Shepard. "Do you need anything else Doc?"
"No, I will update your various records, after I walk you guys to the front door." Shepard rose to his feet and led the Colonel plus his two children out the door.
