Down Comes the Final Curtain

Posted on Fri Mar 20th, 2020 @ 5:39pm by Rear Admiral Heather Yamaguchi-Johnson & Fleet Captain Coral 'Icecrown' Yamaguchi-Antilles

Mission: Mission 104: Saturn's Children
Location: Commanding Officers Ready Room - USS Kronprinz
Timeline: 1030Hrs - September 3rd, 2393

Rear Admiral Heather Yamaguchi-Johnson regarded her once-older but now much younger sibling with a keen eye, this visit had started out official enough with both women on duty and both wearing the standard duty uniforms, Coral wore the skirt and Heather wore pants but the chat in the ready room was always going to the same places that both women had trodden over many times before, today would not be anything really new, it was showing too.

"Coral, you can take your children back, you know," she stated evenly as the two were enjoying a cup of coffee together, as Heather had never imagined ever seeing her sister ever again.

Coral Yamaguchi-Antilles regarded her sibling with a soft look, the two had danced around this topic before as Yamaguchi-Antilles had always refused her. "Heather, you are their mother... Not me. Warrick has no memory of me, Sam and Steve are little different." she commented. "You recall what happened Heather... At dinner a couple of weeks ago, the kids were like 'whos this woman?' and it wasn't until Julia recognized me that the kids showed more interest, No Heather. It causes them more problems... They will understand in time."

"I know," Yamaguchi-Johnson answered with a soft sigh. "But I can't just deny you access to them."

"You're not," Yamaguchi-Antilles answered in a soft tone of voice. "I'm making the choice for you. The children I carried and gave birth to, call you mom." as she smiled softly. "You took them all in and gave them a good home and a good life, I could not have asked for better Heather. From you or anyone else." Coral took a moment to gently brush her bangs out of her eyes, her hair wasn't behaving this morning and it showed too.

"I wish it didn't need to be this way..." Yamaguchi-Johnson sighed softly. "I wish..." the older woman's words trailed off as she shook her head, more in resignation than annoyance. "Are you absolutely sure of this Coral... Did you at least discuss it with Lee?"

"I did," Antilles-Yamaguchi answered quietly. "Lee and I discussed it and he was the one who mentioned leaving the kids with you," she answered as she explained her mindset. "It'll be less disruption for them, and for you." the taller female paused. "Besides Lee and I will get over it in time. Maybe we'll have new children and we will still have each other... Even if the house is too quiet..." Antilles-Yamaguchi admitted softly. "But its better this way... For them, for you and for me."

"Alright..." Yamaguchi-Johnson answered in a soft tone, she lowered her head as she gave in. "We'll do it your way..."

"Thank you, Heather," Yamaguchi-Antilles answered quietly, also sighing softly.

Changing the subject, Yamaguchi-Johnson regarded the ready room with a wave of her left hand. "You've only been back a couple of months and Starfleet's sending you back into the field," she commented evenly. "They must really want you badly."

"Yeah, they seem to think I'm needed out here. Even promoted me to Fleet Captain for my trouble but Kronprinz is my new home among the stars." the taller female explained. "Lee came with me but I have an almost totally new crew and senior staff roster, the rest were assigned to the USS Hawaii." the blonde woman frowned softly. "I... I think... Her skipper is a former Exec from the Enterprise so I know they will be in good hands while they settle into this new time period."

Yamaguchi-Johnson nodded her head, she did understand where her sibling was coming from, "Are you running towards something?... or away from something?." she inquired in a gentle tone. "It can take time to find oneself again, considering what you've been through... But while you're running through the stars... Don't forget that you still have family here too."

Yamaguchi-Antilles nodded as she blinked away sudden tears that threatened to fall with their final reflections of fate and time unending. "Thank you," Coral answered softly before the two embraced, as sisters. "I could never forget my family..."
