Coral's Fireflies - Part One

Posted on Fri Mar 20th, 2020 @ 5:42pm by Colonel Lee Antilles & Fleet Captain Coral 'Icecrown' Yamaguchi-Antilles

Mission: Mission 104: Saturn's Children
Location: Antilles-Yamaguchi Quarters - USS Kronprinz
Timeline: 1800Hrs - September 3rd, 2393

Coral Antilles-Yamaguchi's head emerged from the bedroom as she heard her husband came into the quarters that they shared, there was no sign that any children lived here and nor was there any signs of children present whatsoever. "You okay?" Antilles-Yamaguchi asked of her husband.

"It's too quiet," Antilles answered quietly. "Its time we discussed it..." he added in a quiet tone of voice. "Warrick should be nine months old now... Not aged seven," he commented while he moved into the bedroom, to see his wife wearing a pair of shorts and a sports bra, her hair was damp as she had already showered before Lee had come home. "Its a little strange..."

"Tell me about it." Antilles-Yamaguchi agreed with a soft sigh as she gently sat down on the bed. "I've never seen a ship this size... Let alone ever imagined anything this size, other than a Starbase, of course."

"Yet, the ships are big and getting bigger..." Antilles answered as he saw down next to his wife. "But you aren't concerned about the ship sizes... I recall you saying how ships could stand to be a little larger..."

Antilles-Yamaguchi agreed with her husband, the single nod of her head indicated as much. "Yeah... I recall saying that over dinner a few times." she nodded. "So, what about us?"

"You and me?" Antilles raised an eyebrow as he regarded his spouse, she looked at him with an almost earnest look. "I'm not sure I follow Coral," he commented as he was unsure of what she was talking about. "Is there an issue we need to address?"

"Do you want more children?" Antilles-Yamaguchi inquired in a rather blunt tone of voice.

Boomer should have seen this question coming, considering recent events had exhausted them in regards to dealing with Heather Yamaguchi-Johnson who had taken in their original five children. "I hadn't thought about it, to be honest... At times it's nice to not have to work for it but... Other times, the house is way too quiet for my liking..." as he regarded his spouse. "You feeling the itch to have more?"

"I am, actually," Antilles-Yamaguchi admitted. "I wanted to hear your perspective on the matter before us before I decided to press ahead with details," she explained. "Was five enough... or was that in itself, too many for us to deal with..." she asked aloud. Boomer recognized that his wife needed to air her piece and he decided not to interrupt and let her do so. "Had we taken the kids with us. We'd-" was as far as she had gotten before her husband decided to interrupt his wife's reverie which he knew would have turned into self-recrimination.

"Still not have protected them from the changes in history." Boomer responded, cutting his wife off.

"But Doctor Hammonm-Brown brought her children along... Why did she get away with it?" Antilles-Yamaguchi inquired bluntly.

"Because she had the space available and we didn't." Boomer answered quietly. "At the end of the matter Coral. What's done is done... There is no point in rehashing it, reopening old wounds... Let the past be... All we can do... is move on." Boomer sighed softly, he knew that his losses were his children who were being raised by the woman his children called mom, for him, she was only a subspace call away but what didn't help was that Heather wished to split her own family up to make Coral and Lee happy, both had refused her on several occasions. "You never said how Heather's visit today went?" Boomer inquired of his spouse.

"You never asked..." Antilles-Yamaguchi answered evenly. "She brought up the kids, we had a bit of a go at each other but I was finally able to make her see reason on the subject." Coral paused. "Heather finally backed down on the subject and I doubt she'll bring up the kids again... Lee. They don't even know who we are... It could have been much worse, we could have returned decades from now." Antilles-Yamaguchi sighed softy.

Boomer nodded. "I know... It could have been far worse for us both." he paused. "Still. We're together and we have each other. The rest we can work through in due time and Coral. I have nothing against wanting more children... but we do have grandkids in our lives..."

"Autumn and her wife with their children. I did consider them." Antilles-Yamaguchi paused. "I won't rush into having more children... I will consider the matter carefully, as I always do."

"Sounds good to me, now what do you say we go eat dinner?" Boomer commented.

"Sounds good. Change and take a shower first. Let me consider what to eat for dinner." Antilles-Yamaguchi knew that her husband liked to shower alone most of the time and she did not begrudge him this effort. "I'll seeya shortly." as she gently kissed him on the lips, before she rose to her feet and left the bedroom in silence.
