Personal History | Heather Yamaguchi-Johnson was born on August 9th, 2347, the third of five children of Dr Rachael Yamaguchi and then Chief Petty Officer Benjamin Yamaguchi. She was third girl in a household of girls. He grew up as part of a very happy household, his birth date was August 9th, Twenty-Three Forty-Seven. He was born almost ninety seconds before her twin brother. Like her sisters, she was raised and lived on Earth Spacedock as both her parents were in Starfleet. She would have a very close relationship with her siblings and her parents. This was something that would influence her relationship with her own spouse and her own children. Heather grew up on Earth Spacedock, in orbit over Earth with the rest of her family as her father was assigned to the starbase while her mother was off with the fleet. This suited Heather and her family fine as she grew up, a happy child with two loving parents that adored her, it seemed like nothing could go wrong until that fateful day in 2366 when her mother died at Wolf 359. For the family, it was a very bitter blow and for Heather, it ripped out her heart but also set her focus on her main career in life, Starfleet as a pilot, partly to protect others and to also avenge her mother. Heather graduated high school in early 2365 and applied right away for Starfleet Academy, she was accepted into that year's fall semester as a student so she packed up her life and moved to San Francisco, she moved in with a couple of her high school friends until early December 2369 when she graduated. Heather did her cadet cruise on the USS Courageous in 2368 when the ship was outright humiliated by a band of Caitian reservists assigned to the CDS Si'Marr's claw. The exercise was downright embarrassing as the Courageous lost badly to a ship that many considered to be a holdover from a bygone age. With the threat of wartime hanging over the heads of everyone in the Federation, whether or not they were in Starfleet began to gnaw at Heather as she was assigned to the USS Barham as one of their new conn officers. The battle of Tyra weeded out all the newbie conn officers on the Barham, except her and she even took the Chief's slot when the conn officer was killed by a Jem'Hadar torpedo that landed just forward of the number 42nd bulkhead After the Battle of Tyra, she was offered an assignment on the USS Dreadnought where she fought in many of the major battles of the Dominion War from the 1st Battle of Vulcan with the USS Dreadnought demolishing many a Jem'Hadar ship to Operation Return, to the Vulcan and Bolian Fronts. The USS Dreadnought's most dangerous mission came in late 2374 with the fall of Betazed, in preparation for the inevitable counter-attack by the 2nd Fleet, the Dreadnought attacked the Betazed outer defence perimeter, demolishing a half dozen Jem'Hadar fighters before withdrawing with moderate combat damage, two hours later she came back with a half dozen tricobalt warheads ready that were used to demolish two Orbital control stations and another three weapons platforms before they were brought online, the 2nd Fleet arrived shortly, saving the Dreadnought from destruction as they crashed into the Dominion Lines, the attack itself was a failure because the Dominion sent another 60 ships to Betazed, however this didn't hurt Heather as she got to demonstrate her flying talents for all to see. Heather Yamaguchi earned the Pentaries Cluster as she helped save a Freighter loaded down with Federation Civilians that had been evacuated from Chudala. She was then reassigned to the USS Renown as their Chief Conn Officer, the war was putting a premium on good flyers and here Heather would serve until the end of the war through various battles such as the Battle of the Three Suns, the Battle over Earth and the Battles of Getha and Cardassia respectively. With the end of the war came the end of combat duty for Heather Yamaguchi. In truth, she had hated every moment of the war but she had grown to crave the taste of battle, the thrill of watching the enemy die. It was this revelation that she realized she needed a change. But before she could stick in for reassignment. The USS Renown would embark on a two-year exploration mission in Beta Quadrant and as the USS Renown arrived back at Earth, she along with 26 others were summoned to deal with a Borg incursion, in all Thirty-Six ships were on hand to help destroy a Borg Sphere and welcome home the USS Voyager It was during her layover on Starbase One that she met her future husband Ben Randal, he transferred with her over to the USS Kitty Hawk and the two were wed after a rather tempestuous romance, unfortunately, the love they had together wasn't meant to last as Ben was killed in an accident in Engineering when a plasma conduit blew, she also earned a red crest as she lost one hand, severed in the same accident and had a replacement fitted instead, also at the same time. In her rage that had all but consumed her. Heather requested a transfer away from the Kitty Hawk and was assigned to the USS Exactor as their Executive Officer in early 2379. She would serve aboard the USS Exactor with distinction as she mourned her husband's loss and she slowly healed, she found an outlet in reading late 20th-century novels, loud music and watching movies from the late 20th and Early 21st Centuries. One Holodeck Program she created was a World War One flying program, depicting the major aerial battles of the First World War and soon she was back to her happy-go-lucky self all over again. But the road to get her here was a long and bloody one. Once Heather realized that she needed to get out of the office and meet new people, she found herself in a new relationship with Major Steven Johnson of the USS Exactor's Marine unit. Heather Yamaguchi was known for her rather unorthodox tactics in battle. She once pulled off an Immelmann turn in space on the USS Exactor as she duelled with two pirates from the Kol'zan group, this action earned her a Distinguished Flying Cross. After 6 months she earned the Sulu Award for Piloting Excellence because of her actions saving an Away Team using the Sulu Shuttle Stunt, it was considered highly dangerous but they all lived after crash-landing rather than all being killed so for Heather, it was a good trade. In early 2383. Paul Antilles was looking for skippers for several ships he had assigned to his command. The names of Heather Yamaguchi and several others came across his desk. Upon reading Heather's file. He realized that she was a lot more valuable than she looked so he snapped them both up. He offered Heather the command of the USS Yankee Clipper while being assigned to the battlegroup he was commanding. She accepted. Heather would remain in command of the USS Yankee Clipper until late in 2387 when she was informed that she was being promoted. The cost was that she needed to go to a Starbase posting. Lya Station Alpha in preparation for entering the Admiralty. In early 2388, she was promoted to Commodore and command of the Second Tactical Wing of the Seventh Fleet, she was again promoted three years later, this time to Rear Admiral and Executive Officer for the Seventh. However all of this came at a cost, she was forced to give up her ship and accept a command posting at a Starbase so she accepted command of Starbase Lya Station Alpha with a measure of trepidation, unease, and excitement, once there, however, she settled into her new routine, raising her small army of children, two-third of which she had inherited from her dead sibling and her command, she was then offered command of the Seventh Tactical Wing. Heather accepted this posting. During the Starfleet Military Reorganization Act of 2391, her rank was moved from Rear Admiral to Division Admiral. It was not a demotion as it was simply an adjustment. A week later, she was promoted back to Rear Admiral. |
