Captain Tolian Brevik nodded as he was presently seated behind his desk, while he regarded the human female seated before him. She did not look amused and neither did Brevik as the two were discussing recent events. "So where do we stand with regards to the investigation around the recent brawl a couple of days ago Commander?"
"The Investigation is coming along, it's being slowed down with the fact that half my staff is reservists who honestly are not able to handle the task before them." the chestnut-color haired woman responded with a soft sigh. "It's like being back at the academy, having to double-check everything these people do, sit, we need a fully trained crew and the sooner the better," she explained, in blunt and simple terms that she knew her skipper would appreciate. He had the reputation for directness and would appreciate such.
"I have gone over this with command, they feel that the reservists are not that bad and could benefit from more time in the field with us," Brevik answered with a soft sigh. "Commands orders stand, we're out here for another two weeks, whether we like it or not." he let out a soft sigh. "We're heading on four months in the field without a single port call in all that time and counting. I don't like it as much as you do Commander. But we are on patrol. So, What I might do is find a nice planet and let the crew have a few days planetside for a while, we will call it charting officially but unofficially, it'll be a chance for the crew to stretch their legs."
Watseka genuinely smiled at this news, even if it was only in the concept stage at this point, it was more then she had been working with up to this moment. "Will command have issues with it?" the tall woman inquired. She did not like having to tell her children it would be a while longer before they could go back to the Starbase, she knew that John was getting angry about being cooped up on the ship because he had decided to go with her rather than remain on the Starbase as he had for all of her previous deployments. He wanted to see how she lived and dealt with things and she knew he was regretting having made the choice.
Brevik saw no reason to sugar-coat the issue before the two of them. "Oh, probably, I am running a carrier after all." he paused. "I can get with Ironhide and Warlock. Use the system for a series of exercises for their guys, While I can drop Major DeCrescents and his people planetside and let him whip his marines into shape=." Upon saying all of this, Brevik simply shrugged his shoulders. "We can hope it works... right?" as he gave her a deadpan look, his sense of humor reflected his own personal style and for those who didn't know him, they would say he had no sense of humor, however, Watseka knew better.
The com system suddenly beeped at the two of them with the usual two pitched sounds, indicating that someone was about to speak. "Attention crew of the USS Solemn Penance, you humans are being kept out here in space because the aliens in command do not care about you, you are here to suffer for their failures and their leadership skills, which are lacking." the voice explained before going on at length as to why the present situation in the Federation was lacking, why the humans were better off in command and why various alien races should not be given anything." the voice began to ramble as it continued along.
Brevik and Watseka raised an eyebrow, as the two of them rose to their feet respectively and went out onto the bridge. There they found something along the lines of organization chaos presently taking place. "Where is that coming from?"
The Vulcan female looked up from her panel. "It's on all communications channels sir," she explained, Brevik raised an eyebrow. "From within the ship or without?" he inquired of the Vulcan.
"Within sir, this is not coming to us from anyone else," T'Shamsu answered, her fingers flying over the board at which she worked. Brevik tapped his combadge. "Brevik to Stozg," he commented. "Could you please report to the bridge?"
"On my way, Captain." came the response.
Brevik turned to Watseka. "Commander. Find out who is fucking with us and silence them. I don't care what it takes..."
The tall female nodded her head. "Yessir. Right away." and with that, she turned and walked off of the bridge. "Security Annex," she commented to the inside of the turbolift as the doors closed and the turbolift sped away, towards its destination as a moment later, another set of turbolift doors opened and out stepped the ship's chief of intelligence, the Saurian nodded to Brevik. "You wished to see me, sir?" the Suairan inquired of Brevik, it was a formal response due to Brevik asking for the presence of his subordinate.
"I do," Brevik answered. "Find out who sent that transmission. I've already asked Commander Watseka to start looking into the matter."
"I'll start right away sir." the Saurian answered before he moved over to the large console on the left side of the bridge where he often monitored communications, he blinked his eyes as he went to work, a minute or so later, he had some answers. "Captain, whoever it was, sent that transmission from below deck five and it was most certainly from someone aboard this ship," he reported.
Brevik turned to Walters. "Commander. We have a saboteur aboard."
"Yessir. We do." Walters answered.
