Cast No Shadows - Part Two

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1630Hrs - August 14th, 2393

Ma'haat Dvald-Vaxx walked beside his mother who was wearing a new uniform with the skirt and boots rather than the dress pants she normally wore, as the two walked down the hallway, his mothers five rank pips, four solid gold, and one black marked her as the base executive officer and she was not to be trifled with. People who were much larger then she herself was, tended to move aside at her passing and they tended to respect the uniform, more so than the small framed Bolian female who was wearing it.

Ma'haat walked beside his mother in silence as the two entered the massive expanse called the plaza, it held five levels, all full of areas for eating, shopping and just about anything one would wish for at a large planetside shopping mall. Siaxx smiled as she turned to her son. "Is there anywhere special you want to go, son?"

"Not really mom, do you wanna see what there is?" Ma'haat asked of his mother. She nodded her head. "Sure." she almost purred the word back at him before the two set off, into the hustle and bustle of the plaza.

The two slowly made their way past several restaurants and eateries, but neither of them liked what they saw on offer, as they tended to cater for just about everyone, Siaxx indicated a fast food place. "What about here?" she indicated the large restaurant that the two were passing.

"The Big-Bang Burger Shack?" Ma'haat inquired of his mother. "Sure, why not. The name is catchy though."

Siaxx smiled as she made her way into the front area, her son beside her, they were met with one of the wait staff. "Hello." he regarded the Fleet Captain and the man beside her wearing civilian clothing. "Seating for two?" he inquired with a smile.

"Please?" Dvald-Vaxx answered with a smile. "That'll be great," she added.

"Sounds great, right this way ma'am." the man commented as he led Dvald-Vaxx and her son to their table, buried in the back out of the way. "Claudia will be your host for this evening, can I get you anything to start?"

"Just two coke-cola's please?" Dvald-Vaxx commented. "Both extra large."

The man nodded. "Right away ma'am." and with that, he placed two menus onto the table before the two small Bolians and then he withdrew, he wondered if they were husband and wife but he dismissed it as unlikely, he then came to the conclusion that this was a mother and child. But what he did know was that the small Bolian female was the base executive officer and so he went into the kitchen. "Chef. May I?" he stated to the Chef who was busily cooking a dish for another guest.

"Yo!. What's up?" the Chef answered with a cheery mood.

"I thought I'd let you know that we have the base Executive officer with one of her children in the restaurant." the Waiter explained what was going on.

"Thanks for letting us know. Has she ordered yet?" the Chef inquired.

"No, not yet Chef." as he went about lifting two large glasses and began filing then with soda and ice.

Meanwhile, back out in the back of the seating area. Ma'haat regarded his mother. "I think they are afraid of you." as he opened the menu before him, he very quickly selected the order he wanted. Siaxxx did likewise as she nodded. "It's because of my posting, they think that if they don't impress me, that I'll make trouble for people," Dvald-Vaxx explained lightly. "If I wore civilian clothing, I'd be treated with polite indifference but when they see me in uniform afterward, they tend to worry and fret over how they treated me. I'm used to it. Let's face it Ma'haat, most assume I'm a young teenager like yourself. Now that's, not a bad thing but I do tend to have way too many men checking m out."

Ma'haat turned a shade of deep blue as he sighed. "Well... Ummm.."

"You've noticed it then," Dvald-Vaxx commented in a gentle tone of voice. "and you look at Saki, the same way that other men look at me."

Ma'haat sighed softly but he opted to say nothing on the subject as he had wondered what sex with Saki would be like, how she would take his interest in her and how their first time together would go, would it be in the human style, in bed or with the two sharing a shower or a bath as in the Bolian style.

Dvald-Vaxx knew her son was about to entrench himself and clam up. "There is nothing wrong with that, Saki has sex appeal, I think Rachael would be flattered if she knew... I think Saki would be flattered too." she then slowly smiled. "Besides..." as she paused with a rather wide smile on her face.

Just then their server appeared. "Hey, guys. I'm Claudia, do you need another couple of minutes?" as she placed their drinks before the two small Bolians before her. "Here you go, your drinks," she added a moment later.

"No, we're good to order dinner now," Dvald-Vaxx answered with a smile.

"Sounds great, what can I get for you?" the young human female inquired, Siaxx rattled off her order before Ma'haat did the same. Claudia smiled, as she realized that this was a mother and son couple before her and not a husband and wife, as she had assumed. "Sounds great. I'll take those and I'll pass this along to the Chef." and with that, the young woman moved off.

Dvald-Vaxx smiled but she opted to say nothing on the matter. She turned back to her son. "You're becoming a man and I know you have pondered it."

"What's that mom?." Ma'haat knew exactly where his mother was coming from.

"Intimacy. Preferably with Saki... I have always trusted your judgment son. But, I will tell you this." Dvald-Vaxx commented. "She is too young for such things, remember that she is ten years old and she is a child, while your not..." Dvald-Vaxx paused. "But if you wish to pursue her, be gentle and expect barriers in your way, in the form of her mother and her adopted father, in addition to her extended family. So prepare yourself for it."

Ma'haat nodded his head, he had been expecting his mother to deny him, to block his interest in Saki. "I know she's too young but... Someday mom."

Dvald-Vaxx smiled at her son, it didn't take much to handle things but she knew that his interest in Saki would only grow with time, she would need to take care of matters.
