Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1600Hrs - August 14th, 2393

Ma'haat Dvald-Vaxx was sitting at the kitchen table, he was doing the last of homework and he was miserable, he knew it and he didn't care who else knew it. He was not feeling well so he had decided to stay home while Dad had taken his brothers planetside for the evening to see a celestial event, Chen had said that he would record it on a tricorder so Ma'haat could see it later. Which had been really nice of Dad to make the offer.

The bedroom door opened and out came Siaxx Dvald-Vaxx, she smiled as she regarded her son. "Hey sweetie, you feeling better?" she inquired of Ma'haat who was the same size and mass as her. She was wearing a pair of jean shorts and a simple sweatshirt, for Siaxx this was her normal attire when she was off duty, she wore her combadge as she was always on call. Siaxx never got a day off and everyone in her family knew it.

"I've felt better mom," Ma'haat answered quietly as he shifted his attention from the picture in his hand to his mother who was the same size and mass as himself, as he gently placed a picture of Saki Yamaguchi-Cullen, encased in a frame back onto the table. Siaxx did not miss what he son had done, she knew in her heart of hearts that Ma'haat missed his friend but she knew that her son was maturing from a child into a man, she knew that the hormones were boiling in his blood and that Saki was more than just a simple friend to him. "You miss Saki?" she had phrased it as a question if only to give her son an out if he didn't wish to answer.

"I do mom." M'ahaat felt he was confessing some deep, dark secret. "There's something about her..." he paused. "I... I dunno..."

"Oh but I do." Dvald-Vaxx slowly smiled at her son. "Do you wanna talk about it?" she inquired. "It's just you and me... and I won't tell a soul," Siaxx commented with a gentle smile. "Besides, I think I understand what you see in her..."

Ma'haat nodded, he knew his mother could press for answers but while he was not the most social butterfly, he also knew that his mother always took him seriously. He indicated a chair across from him. "Sure... Let me put away my homework since I'm finished with it." as he began to take care of the detail before him, his hands shook as he did so.

Siaxx gently slid her body onto one of the chairs, as she gently placed her hands on her sons. "Ma'haat." as she gently held his hands in hers, they were more or less the same size as hers. "It's okay to miss your friend. Saki has few who understand her even fewer who accept her," she explained. "I helped raise her so she's more Bolian in mindset then she is human."

"But there is something about her, she is..." he sighed. "I don't know how to say it..."

"You have a thing for her," Dvald-Vaxx answered with a smile. "There is nothing bad with having feelings for her. I'm happy that you feel you can have those feelings for someone else..." as she regarded her son with a gentle smile. "Mind a little perspective son?"

"You promise not to tell anyone... I do not wish to anger her mother."

"Rachael is many things, she is not stupid Ma'haat but she is overprotective of Saki... Considering the two spent most of their time in the wild with me." Dvald-Vaxx explained. "Saki takes her cues in life from her mother. Besides... I know Saki very well. She likes spending her time with you as you accept her as she is, not as she might be."

"She's great to hang out with mom, she and I were learning martial arts together," Ma'haat admitted. "She's not subtle in the least and I love it, I know where I stand with her at all times..."

"Ma'haat, I think we should call Saki on the USS Heart of the Tiger. Together and you can catch up with her, you should try and tell her all of this, she has to know at some point that you have a thing for her. Otherwise, she won't know and she may drift further away..."

Ma'haat regarded his mother. "I'd like to write it down first so I don't run her over with a small wall of word-crap." he paused. "Sorry." he winced as he knew it was bad form to swear in front of his mother.

"You still keeping your diary?" Siaxx asked of her son as she gently rubbed his shoulder, she knew of what he was facing. She also knew that Saki was more than just a friend.

"I do." Ma'haat paused. "Training isn't the same without her."

"I know," Siaxx answered evenly. "I know you well enough to know that you've been unhappy ever since Saki left, the things you two did were something you enjoyed with her and you two could wrestle and play, she would keep you on your toes."

"She gave as good as she got mom. Saki was something else... something special." Ma'haat commented quietly.

"I know." Siaxx smiled as she regarded her son. "Do you want to go and get something to eat from the plaza, just you and me.?"

"Sure." Ma'haat commented quietly.

"Okay, go get your shoes." she paused. "Let me go change into my uniform otherwise people will think I'm a lost teenager." Dvald-Vaxx rose to her feet and moved into the bedroom.
