Timeline: 1010Hrs - January 30th, 2394
Fleet Captain Lelia Reeves knew that her father would not be telling her this unless it was something for her to know. "Go on Dad, tell me the rest of it.
"It's her, Savannah is real. She's alive and well." Reeves explained. "While she was never adopted out. She joined Starfleet, and that led her to her husband and her own family."
"Wait, she has a family of her own.?" Leila had never expected to ever be told this information. They had assumed that Kimora's lost child would remain that. Lost forever across the astral winds of space and time.
"Yeah, three children, soon to be five," Reeves answered. "She's in Starfleet. My contacts informed me of the details of her file." he then sighed. "I had to be sure. So I looked into it." he paused a moment. "Then there is the topic of her spouse. He's a Yamaguchi, Apparently the nephew of the woman that Kimora was seeing all those years ago," he commented.
Leila nodded, she knew about the existence of the various Yamaguchi's from various other people. "This is fantastic news, Dad. Really it is," she answered. "I assume you are already working on details of when, where and how to meet this ghost from our past?"
"Those plans are already in progress. But what's even better is that she's assigned not far from you. As a result. You'll be able to meet her before I will. She's assigned to the operations department on Starbase Vanguard." That is when he dropped the heavy end of the hammer on his daughter about his granddaughter.
"What?" Leila felt her mind shatter into a trillion pieces for the third time in an hour. "So I will be able to meet her. More or less the second I go back to Vanguard. Literally on demand?" she asked in a soft tone of voice.
"Yeah, pretty much." Reeves answered. "Her husband's family are aware you are homebased from there. They will be expecting you." he paused. "Does the name of Jake Yamaguchi or Torilla Yamaguchi ring any bells to you?"
Leila recalled both names as she nodded. "Jake's the Exec of Starfleet forces here. A man I do not need to be crossing for any reason whatsoever." Leila answered. "We've interacted, but that's all. I found him polite. Easy to get along with and easy to relate to. I can see what Kimora saw in him. I know she had a thing for him." she then sighed. "Torilla though. I've never really interacted with her. But I have heard of her. They tell me she's a full-time parent, a full-time grandparent and someone who will go a mile out of her way before she steps on an ant." Leila paused. "While I don't question it. I also have no idea if any of that is true or not." she then shrugged as if the matter did not concern her, which it didn't. "I suspect that going to change. If I'm going to be meeting Savannah Yamaguchi. Then I need to know who else I'm going to be dealing with at the same time." she added.
Reeves nodded. "But all of that said. Savannah Reeves is alive." he paused a moment. "My grandbaby, your niece is alive and with kids of her own no less," he added.
"That is truly wonderful news, Dad. God knows we could certainly use a little good news at times like this." Leila commented. "My children aren't the last." she closed her eyes, taking a moment to compose herself. "What will you do now?"
"Get to meet my granddaughter and hope I pass muster. If I do, then I have great-grand kids to meet, know and spoil. I also need to make nice with her husband and his family too." Reeves explained himself. "Well. We will see how that pans out honey."
"Indeed we will dad. Thank you for letting me know," Leila answered with a soft smile on her face. "I should get back to it," she added.
"Of course. Stay in touch, Leila. Reeves out." With that, the screen went back as Leila felt her emotions finally overwhelm her. She had given up Savannah long ago. The same as everyone else in her family had. Only now had those seeds made their presence known, almost a quarter of a century later.
Leila let the emotions flow through her as she didn't try to repress them or try to calm herself. But after a few minutes, she did. That's when she took a moment to pull herself back together. She picked up a PADD she knew that was empty. She began to tap out a short letter to her husband which she wanted to let him know about Lieutenant Savannah Yamaguchi. and that her niece was alive and well. She kept the letter short and simple. 'Don't look into her, others have already done that and there is no need to provoke others further. I wanted to let you know that she exists. I'll arrange to meet her when I return to Vanguard in three weeks' time. I will advise further. Leila.'
Once she was finished, she sent the letter to her spouse.
