Mission 120: All Along the Watchtowers - Part Two
Location: Various Locations - Utgarde IV / USS Tribal
Timeline: 1810Hrs - January 31st, 2394
Commander Kassie Paris settled in to wait. She knew her daughter would be a few minutes. Kassie had no wish to impose on her daughter like this. What was worse was that she had just been reunited with her boyfriend from Christmas time. Kassie didn't think that relationship had survived but she had been sorely mistaken. What was worse was that unless she handled this issue exactly right, then not only would it blow up in her face but her daughter's face as well.
Kassie knew that she was about to unleash pure chaos into her daughter's life and relationship. She quickly lifted a hand to terminate the call and dammn the consequences to her and her two daughters when Kadian returned, with Marcus Solusar in tow.
Kassie took a moment to school her thoughts as she composed herself. She saw something in Marcus Solusar that she liked. "Hello, you two. I suspect that when I get done with this chat, you both will be cursing my name." she came right out and said it.
Solusar paused. "Okay. Why?" he asked. He was direct and upfront. This was also something Kassie really liked.
"I need somewhere to house my two youngest children. Ten days to two weeks. So I have time to straighten things out and sort out my life. I'm turning over command of my ship to someone else and I need a week to get settled into my new assignment on Utgarde Four. Then I will take my two screaming, meaming helions off of you and you'll never need to worry about them, ever again." Kassie had a sinking feeling that her long attempt at a joke had just fallen flat on its face and died a most gruesome death.
Kadian and Marcus shared a look. "Are they really that bad?" Solusar inquired. "I have ways of fixing attitude problems. Broken personalities and ego cases," he explained. "My dad is a marine."
"I know. I looked up your family name ten minutes after I was introduced to you over Christmas." Kassie explained. "I wanted to be sure of the man you were." she sighed softly.
"You could have asked me." Solusar sat back in his chair, a gentle smile on his lips. "I would not have been worried about it." he then shrugged. "I still don't." he paused. "So. Let me see if I got this right. You want to drop off your two youngest here, have me and Kadian watch them for ten days to two weeks. Make sure they don't blow this house up or cause people to go mad with rage or fury over their antics and return them to you, alive and well when you are settled. Did I get all that?"
"Yes. Marcus." Kassie addressed him by name. "You did," she added with a soft sigh.
Solusar nodded his head. "Well, we are in the middle of winter at the present time. There isn't anywhere they can go. Or much harm they can do."
"They can always break things," Kadian answered. "They do that, a lot," she added.
"They are children. They must be free to be themselves." Solusar reminded her. He heaved a sigh before he breathed in. "Do you have their files ma'am.?" he asked. "If I am to watch over these two... I need some details about them," he commented. "I'm also going to have to explain to them my various house rules... This is my home," he commented in a tone that indicated his primacy would not be challenged by anyone.
Kassie nodded. "I'm sending them to you on this channel." as she went about sending the relevant files.
Kadian nodded. "We have them," she commented. "How long till you get here mom?"
"Tomorrow evening," Kassie answered. "I turn over my command at that time... and I'm hoping that you'll be here to take Stephanie and Nicole off of me. It'll give me time to get sorted on my end," she explained. "Low-end estimate is a week and the high-end estimate is two," she added. "I will try and speed that along... I do not wish to burden you two with my issues any longer than I must. But there is little time and there is no one else. I have no other family and neither does my spouse. He's commanding the USS Ambassador. He's assigned here to the Tholian front too. Which I why I come to you in the first place." Kassie then groaned softly. "Kadian finaly finds herself a boyfriend and Starfleet gets pissy because I can't make it work." she sighed as she looked down at the ground, between her booted feet. "I'm sorry for all of this, you two. I really am."
"We'll take them off your hands," Solusar commented quietly. "Maybe it won't be so bad," he added.
