Timeline: 0930Hrs, August 12th, 2393

Sitting in her ready room, much like a spider in her web. Commander Derris Feraan grinned as she handed the PADD in her hand off to her aide, who nodded. "I'll have this processed for you right away skipper."

"Thanks, Marie," Feraan answered, her smile losing none of its potency. "My last little piece of paperwork for today. How are the crew doing?"

"I think they are tired of seeing my face." Petty Officer Third Class Marie Henderson responded, a subtle grin on her own face. "I mean, everyone knows that I ask the same old questions for the same reasons, the skipper cares and they know you care. Considering that fiasco last year."

"That is not going to happen again. This ship went through how many commanders again?" Feraan inquired

"Well, there was Commander Duval who's now commanding a battleship, or so I'm told." she paused. "There was Commander Lasky who's now commanding the defense squadron out of Vanguard. The two Siaxx Dvalds. One of whom is the Exec on Vanguard and the other is Executive Officer of a Marine battalion, assigned to Utgarde, then it was you."

The statement only confirmed Feraan's beliefs, She alone was master and commander of this vessel and nobody else above her was, she took great care to make sure her crew knew that it was appreciated but she still had to maintain Starfleet levels of discipline and readiness. "Yeah, all of which tells me that I was right to make a fuss over the mess that others had caused me." the massive female sighed softly at the memory of the events in question.

Just then the com system beeped at both women. "Skipper, you have a message coming in, its Admiral MacKean." came the voice of Lieutenant Alanna Rehvick.

Feraan smiled as she regarded the younger human female before her. "Understood, put her through in here." as she nodded to Henderson. "I'd best take this call." and with that, the smaller human female turned and departed as Feraan tapped the display before her. "Computer, authorization. Feraan Two Two Eight Beta One," she commented. The black screen before the large Vrykul female was replaced with the face of an older human female. "Good Morning Captain, is this a bad time?"

Feraan shook her head. "No, of course not Admiral. What can I do for you?"

"I am wondering about your first officer. Commander Beth Woerner. How is she in the center chair.?" clearly MacKean didn't want to drag this out for too long, she knew that talking to ship Captain's about their first officers sometimes could cause issues but she wanted this to be quick, so there were fewer chances for issues to arise.

"I have full confidence in Commander Woerner's abilities to do her job, she and I have worked on our issues and concerns," Feraan explained as MacKean nodded her head. "That's encouraging news, I was concerned about you two."

"I had cause to want to keep her with me Admiral, the issues she faced were not hers and they were not mine, they were commands issues as in they kept screwing around with this ship and her crew." the large female sighed softly, it was clear that what happened still did not sit well with her.

"You misunderstand me, Captain. How would you rate Commander Woerner?" MacKean answered with a smile.

"I'd rate her as skilled, she takes good care to listen to the issues and concerns of the crew under her command, she makes my life very easy. She is also quite a stabilizing influence on the bridge, she encourages the crew when needed and isn't afraid to reign people in when they get out of hand." Feraan responded. "Admiral, what's this all about?" the massive female asked a moment later. "Has the Commander caused an issue elsewhere?, if so then I would have you make the case to me. Now."

MacKean saw that this chat was doing downhill quick so she decided to come right out and say it rather than slap the larger female down. "No Captain, I'm not calling with any specific issue regarding the Commander but we have a great need for skilled officers and I am calling because I wish to offer her command of a Century class Heavy Cruiser," MacKean responded, she sighed softly as she had been expecting this to get stupid but it didn't.

Feraan smiled as she perked up. "Oh... Well... That's different than... Ones available?" the Vrykul inquired.

"Oh, there are a lot of ships available. more now then ever before and we're in the middle of a massive expansion phase, we've even brought in some of the home guard personnel to crew our ships too." MacKean answered with a nod. "The Century class is appearing in ever-increasing numbers, there are also a group of variants of the same class, each of them specific to a certain goal but they can all fly the flag and explore." the older human female explained. "I'd like to offer Commander Woerner the command of the USS Daedalus."

"Oh, so this is a job offer... I misunderstood you." Feraan answered with a smile.

"I didn't explain well enough. It's of no matter though. I'd like to inform you and have you propose it to her or, if you want, I can contact her directly and go from there."

"No need Admiral. I will propose it to her, she will make a fine Commanding officer for the Daedalus, if she accepts and I assume it comes with a promotion to Commander?"

"It does. Yes." MacKean answered with a smile. "I'll leave you to take care of things, Let me know when you finish and the like. So I can make arrangements for you." MacKean answered.

"Yessir. I'll take care of it immediately. Feraan out." and with that, the Vrykul female hung up on the Admiral, before she tapped her combadge. "Feraan to Woerner. Could you come in here please, when you get a moment?"

"Right away skipper." came the answer.
