Mission:
Mission 108: Grains of Sand
Location: Various Locations - USS Spirit of Winter
Timeline: 1230Hrs - November 27th, 2393
Lieutenant Heather Shepard moved down the hallway of her new assignment as Lt Commander Natalya Kirilova flagged her down. "Sorry. You're now too?" Kirilova asked the other woman before her.
"We're the replacements, for the Yamaguchi's or so it would seem," Shepard answered with a soft sigh. "No matter, I got what I wanted. Assignment on a smaller ship of the line. What of you?"
"It would seem that we are to serve here," Kirilova answered with a smile. "Shall we do this together?" she asked of the other woman before her.
"Sure." Shepard simply shrugged. She had nothing against the notion. "Skippers office first then,?" she asked the woman next to her.
"Sure," Kirilova answered, as she came to a stop next to a turbolift. She tapped the display once. The doors opened and in both women went. Both had the same destination. "Main bridge," Kirilova said evenly since she was the ranking officer between the two. The turbolift started off and moments later, it came to a halt. Its doors then opened. Both women stepped out of the turbolift before making their way to the ready room door.
Kirilova tapped the display once. "Come in" came the voice from within. She then tapped the door release button and the two women went inside.
"Lt Commander Natalia Kirilova, reporting for duty sir," she announced herself before the other woman repeated the process. "Lieutenant Heather Shepard, deporting for duty sir," she commented, in a repeat of the other officer.
Sheridan smiled. "Welcome aboard you two," he commented. "If you have your orders. I'll take those as well," he commented. The two women both placed their orders on the desk. "Take a seat ladies," he commented before he went over to the replicator. "Do you want anything to drink?"
"I'll have a cold glass of water please?" Shepard knew what Sheridan was doing and she would make it easier for him to handle the matter. Kirilova didn't want anything. Sheridan replicated himself a drink. He handed the glass of water to Shepard and the other he kept for himself.
Shepard sipped her drink as Sheridan began to outline things. "I won't have you two start tomorrow as this crew has about one week of leave time on the Starbase. So you will be starting on or around the fourteenth," he explained. "There have been various issues with the Tholians of late and this is where I have lost almost all of my families assigned to this ship. Gabe and Savv were among the last of them. The last is Fleur and Zyal Antilles. I'm not rid of those two yet simply because I can;t find replacements this quickly." He began. "The Tholians have become a real pain in various body parts recently." he turned to the two women before him. "Ms Kirilova. You'll be looking after the threat assessment for the Tholian border area. If there are any issues or areas of concern. I want to know about them." Sheridan explained. "Ms Shepard. I read your file. it tells me a great many things." he commented. "You are apparently someone who likes making things go boom. I have the bad feeling you will soon be getting your wish," he commented.
"With all due respect. I hope not sir." Shepard answered softly. "When I light off my explosives. I do it in a controlled environment. It's also antimatter fireworks. Nothing more."
"I know." Sheridan smiled. "As I said. I read your file. You might be a little more lively than Gabe. Oh, he was highly skilled but I wanted someone with a little more fire. That led me to you." he commented. "Do either of you have any questions before I dismiss you?"
Kirilova shook her head as Shepard polished off her drink, a gentle smile playing at her lips. "Not from me sir."
"Alright then. Welcome aboard you two." Sheridan answered. "Off with you as I know you two got a lot to do and I need to finish the bane of my existence," he commented. Shepard rose to her feet and departed with Kirilova following a moment.
Shepard smiled as she went towards the nearby set of turbolift doors while Kirilova remained on the bridge for a moment. She entered the lift. Her next stop was sickbay, which she reached a short time later. The Russian woman smiled as she walked into sickbay. Here she was greeted by one of the ship's nurses. "Can I help you? ma'am?" the young man inquired politely.
"Hello. I'm here for my physical." Kirilova explained before she handed him the PADD with her orders on it. He tapped the display once. "Ahh. You're expected, ma'am. Right this way please?"
Kirilova had not expected this sort of treatment but then she was not exactly wanting to jump ahead of others who needed medical care either, she would wait her turn. This was how she was raised.
