Pomp and Regrets - Part Seven

Mission: Mission 108: Grains of Sand
Location: Various Locations - USS Spirit of Winter
Timeline: 1245Hrs - November 27th, 2393

Lt Commander Natalya Kirilova followed the nurse in silence as he led her to the doctor's office. "Doctor." the nurse addressed the young female sitting in what was clearly, her office space.

Antilles lifted her eyes. "Yes, Kieran?" she inquired. "What's up?"

"This is Lieutenant Commander Natalya Kirilova. She's our new Operations Chief." he explained.

"Ahh." Antilles smiled as she rose to her feet, the pregnancy bulge was telling. "Come on over here and I'll look after you. It'll probably be among the last things I do on this ship before I get reassigned." she indicated the pregnancy bump. "I'm almost seven months along so My replacement will be along soon. Same with Zyal. My wife." she then shrugged. "If not this tour then it'll be after the next one." she led the Russian female out into the main medical area. "Take a seat on the bed, any bed and I will begin," she commented.

Kirilova selected the nearest bed to her before she hoisted herself up onto it. She then turned to face the medical officer in silence. Just then the nurse came over with another officer in tow. "Here;'s the other one Doctor."

"Nice," Antilles answered as she gave the woman before her the quick once over. "Other than the obvious stress indicators which tell me you like being abusive. I can't find a thing wrong," she commented. "I'd ask you to tone down the physical recreational activities just a little." she smiled.

"I can do that Doctor. Mostly just working out in the gym." Kirilova answered with a nod of her head. Angering the Doctor was a very dumb idea on most days. Today was especally stupid as she was in getting her checkup.

"Thank you." Antilles smiled. "Other than that, you are in excellent shape," she commented. "I will update your records," she commented. "That's all I wanted. I'm going to certify you as fit for duty," she added. "Thanks for dropping by," she commented. Kirilova grinned and she went out the door.
Antilles turned to the other woman. "Hello. Your turn?"

"Yes ma'am," Shepard answered. She then hoisted herself up onto the bed. Antilles smiled as she went about handling matters with much the same results. Antilles smiled as she handed the other woman her PADD back. "Thank you," she commented. "Welcome aboard."

The com system beeped at her. "Sheridan to Antilles. Doctor. Could you please drop by my ready room when you have a moment?" came the voice of the captain of the ship. As he spoke, the door opened and in walked one more human woman. This one had blonde hair down to her collar. She held a PADD in her hands, and she wore the blue uniform of Conn.

Antilles tapped her combadge. "I'll be there shortly Captain. I have one more physical to do," she explained.

"Understood Doctor. I will expect you soon." came the response. "Sheridan out." and with that, the com system went silent. Antilles turned to the human woman. "Welcome aboard Doctor. I take it you are my wife's replacement?" she asked the woman before her.

"I am. Wait... None of this bothers you?"

"Oh, gods no." Antilles softly smiled at the other woman before her. "I was expecting you," she commented. "Take a seat my dear and I will take care of affairs for you."

Van Ee smiled softly. "I'm sorry we have to meet like this," she commented, it was clear that she did not wish to cause any further issues.

"I'm not, honey. You will do well here. This is a fine ship with a fine crew." Antilles explained with a nod of her head. The younger woman handed Antilles her PADD while she took a seat on the biobed. Antilles went to work on Lieutenant Van Ee. She was quickly able to clear the younger woman for active duty on the USS Spirit of Winter.

"Welcome aboard honey." Antilles smiled softly at the other woman. She quickly flagged down one of her nurses. He stopped before the two women. "Nurse. Could you update Lieutenant Van Ee's records please?"

"Certainly Doctor." he turned to Van Ee. "Welcome aboard ma'am." he then picked up a PADD as Antilles departed sickbay. Within a few minutes, she was standing before the Captain of the ship. "Doctor. There is no nice way for me to put this. But we have replacements officers for you and your wife... So I'm going to send you both to the Starbase. You'll remain in Medicine and your wife will be heading into Security since Starbase Vanguard has no conn department."

"So it's time for me to leave?" Antilles asked softly.

"I'm sorry Fleur. My orders are clear. As much as I object to them." Sheridan answered softly.
