Posted on Thu Mar 19th, 2020 @ 10:11am by Commander Ennis Cullen & Lieutenant Safaa LaSteel & Post Captain Harmon 'Hammer' Rabb Junior. & Post Captain Plataea "Phantom" Lasky

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard / USS Heart of the Tiger
Timeline: 0930Hrs - July 22nd, 2393

Captain Rabb sat down behind her desk as he shrugged off his uniform jacket, while he plucked his combadge off of the jacket in question, he tapped it once. "Rabb to Operations, could you contact the USS Heart of the Tiger for me, I'd like to talk to their JAG Officer, she is expecting my call."

"Understood Captain. I'm placing your call now." came the response from Captain Lasky a moment later.

"Thanks." and with that, he tapped his display once while he waited for the call to be placed. A moment later, the face of Lieutenant Safaa LaSteel appeared before him. "Captain, what can I do for you?"

"The case is dead Safaa. Rachael doesn't wish to press as she says that there was no rape involved, which means we got nothing to work with. Hows things on your end.?"

"More or less the same as you. Doctor Cullen can't get Mister Harrison for anything other then throwing his wife under the shuttlecraft with diminished capacity, I told him that would destroy their family if he did that." LaSteel responded with a gentle smile.

"I'll bet that went down really well for you and for him," Rabb answered evenly.

"Oh, It did, Saki was present and she did not take it well, she had choice words on the subject, that child is a lot more intelligent then she lets on, I paid for that with something of a verbal spanking from a ten-year-old." LaSteel sighed. "I paid for my arrogance in thinking Saki was a stupid child." she sighed. "I told her that should she desire to press it, she might have a future in JAG as she understood all the legal bullshit that Doctor Cullen and I were discussing."

Rabb winced. "I've heard of her from others, for a child from a feral environment, she seems to be making impressive inroads, I guess that's the benefits of a real education," he added in a dry tone of voice. "Does Doctor Cullen wish to press charges then?"

"No, I impressed upon him the issues he would face if he were to do so. Namely, it would grievously anger his wife and she would be the one he would face and not Paul Harrison, also he would stand a good to excellent chance of destroying her career, permanently." LaSteel sighed. "I was able to talk him down... Now that took a lot and I'm tired, he wore me out."

Rabb smiled. "You have done very well El-Tee. Fine job keeping your head in this insanity. You have been reasonable in an unreasonable situation." he commented. "I've asked Admiral Chegwidden for more staff and he tells me that some are already en-route and I know you are overdue for your next assignment, if you like, I can have you assigned here to Vanguard after your tour on the Heart of the Tiger is over."

LaSteel smiled. "I'll definitely consider it Captain," she answered, serving on a starbase meant more experience for her and better hours of work too. "It all depends on when Heart of the Tiger gets back to Vanguard and my successor arrives," she added.

"Sounds good. I will leave you then to inform Doctor Cullen of these events then. Is there anything further?" Rabb inquired.

"No. I'll take care of the matter before I move onto my next issue. Thank you, Captain Rabb, for the call. LaSteel out." and with that, the screen went black.

The middle-aged female rose to her feet before she proceeded to lift her hands and arms above her head, she then proceeded to stretch as she let out a loud sigh. She then set off for her next stop, sickbay which she reached a few minutes later. She entered before she nodded to the guys at the front desk. "Hey, guys. I'm here to see Doctor Cullen. It is not medically related."

"Now worries El-Tee, he's in his office, go on in." and with that, LaSteel moved into the sickbay area and located the object of her interest in his office, right where he was expected to be located. He was reading from a PADD which he placed onto the desktop as she knocked on his door. "Doctor. got a moment?"

"Sure, what's up?" Cullen inquired

"Starfleet JAG got back to me, turned out I was right and they don't have a case. So they won't be moving forward with charges against Paul Harrison. Your spouse didn't wish to press so the case was declared dead on arrival and that's the end of it." LaSteel explained as she remained standing in the doorway.

"I figured as much. I thought a crime had been committed." Cullen answered. "Rachael didn't tell me anything about Paul Harrison so I assume the worst." he sighed. "She'll want words with me."

"Ennis, you were simply protecting your spouse from what you assumed was a threat," LaSteel answered with a smile. "That's not a bad thing. But you should have asked her what happened between those two. They might have indeed had bad shit go down or they might have been parted due to reasons outside of their control." she explained. "Hows Saki doing?"

"She's at home, resting," Cullen answered. "I hope she is asleep but knowing her, she working on something as she always does. Saki never takes time off, she's more like her ma then she would care tae admit."

"I meant what I said, if she wishes to learn about JAG then I can teach her how the system works. If she's interested." LaSteel answered.

"I wasn't expectin' her to lose it like that. I'm sorry."

"No," LaSteel commented with a smile. "Saki had every right to be angry. I was patronizing her, you and her mother and she stomped on me for it. In my opinion, I deserved it." she giggled like a schoolchild confessing something to a friend. "lesson learned."

"Fair enough," Cullen answered with a smile. "Well I'd best get back to work and try to put the last few days behind me." he added.

"Very wise." LaSteel smiled before she turned and departed in silence.
