Mission 112: The Heart of a Truth Long Lost
Location: Various Locations - USS Spirit of Winter
Timeline: 1730Hrs - October 20th, 2393
Lieutenant Gabriel Yamaguchi smiled as he handed off his children to the usual babysitter. One of the crew's daughters who's father was on good terms with the Yamaguchi's. Kenora was a well-behaved teenager who wanted a little time with child experience which she thought could help her get into Starfleet medical someday. Gabe was going to put her in touch with his sibling. Elizabeth who was already a Doctor so the two could chat about matters of state.
Lieutenant Savannah Yamaguchi emerged from the bedroom, wearing a pair of crop-shorts and a hoodie. She went over to her husband. "I was doing some thinking..." she regarded him, while she raised an eyebrow. Indicating she was serious and she wanted to have this chat now, rather than wait until later.
Yamaguchi turned to his wife. "I can hear you thinking Savv... What's on your mind?" he wasn't one for jumping through a lot of hoops or a lot of other mental gymnastics but he always made time for the ladies in his life. His family was full of women so he tended to be silent and still when they spoke.
"I was wondering about my birth mother... Should I consider looking for her?" Savanah regarded her husband. "I have many questions that I want... No... That I demand answers to..."
Gabriel rarely ever saw his wife get so passionate about anything outside of their immediate family. He knew Sav considered Torilla Yamaguchi to be her mother and Jake Yamaguchi was her father. Any contenders to the crown would be met with all due force and sent packing, in a box. Sav had said as much to him when Gideon had been born.
Gabriel gently took his wife's hand in his own. Before he gently drew her to him. "Savv. I've always been there, supporting you in all that you did. What kind of a husband would I be... If I let you find out these questions alone?" Gabriel grinned at his wife. "Whatever we find... Whatever answers come our way... We'll find out together..." Gabriel gently kissed her on the lips. A gentle kiss that she returned.
"When I said that I do on our wedding day... I meant it."
Savv knew that her husband could be a real romantic when he wished to be. She had never had a family growing up as she had never been adopted out of the foster system. Spending all of her time in an orphanage on Earth had been a lonely experience for her. Growing up without the comforts of a family to call her own.
When she had met Gabriel during their early days at the academy. She had seen something in him as she was having issues in one of her classes and she had asked him for help, it had been the start of a long and deeply fulfilling friendship that matured into love and together they had started a family of their own. Savannah had come to call her husbands kin as her own. His parents had become the parents she had never had. Torilla and Jake both knew of this so they welcomed this foundling into their homes and their hearts.
Gabriel regarded his spouse. "If this is what you want... Then I will see it done," he added in an accepting tone of voice. This was something that Gabe had been hoping his wife would look into for years now. But he had been gentle about it, always being quick about it and not dragging it out any longer then either of them needed to do. Savv was uncomfortable with it and Gabe was unsure.
Savannah nodded her head slowly. "Its think its time Gabe... Its been almost thirty years... She might be dead for all I know..."
Gabe nodded his head. "You know what they say about secrets, wife of mine."
"Indeed... There is a danger in them. Both in seeking and in knowing..." Savannah answered quietly. "But what do you think?"
"Savv..." Gabriel gently smiled at his wife. "Its time you got some answers to your oldest and greatest questions... You've waited for long enough honey... Its time to get some answers from your biological mother or her relatives..."
Savannah was unsure and the look on her face said as much. "I'm not sure I will like what I'll find. What if it changes me?" she paused. "Can you promise that everything will be alright?"
"No," Gabe answered softly. "Even if it is... You'll never be the same..."
"Oh..." Sav answered softly. "But Torilla will always be my mom and Jake will always be my dad..."
"I know," Gabe answered with a gentle smile. "The hard part will be getting the information... Then we can process it and decide once and for all what sort of person you'll become... What sort of family you came from." Gabe paused. "But Sav... No matter what happens... I will be there right beside you, all the way to whatever end comes."
Savv slowly smiled. "Thank you, Gabe," she said softly. "Then... Let's begin..."
