Lt Commander Galiaan Fordring was now going to see her next appointment as she would go over the next week's duty roster with Post Captain Heris Dvald. In terms of rank, the two women were simple to work with and deal with but in terms of raw life experience, Dvald was severely outclassed by the Vrykul female and today they had another problem to handle. Fordring reached her destination before she knocked on the door.
"It's open!" came a female voice from within, Fordring walked into the other woman's office before she tapped the door controls on her way by, the doors slid closed behind her. "It's that time where you get to deal with me again," Fordring commented, with a rather saucy grin on her lips.
"You make it sound like such a chore... Does your husband not satisfy you anymore?" Dvald inquired, in the same tone of voice.
"He does, most days..." Fordring then gingerly eased herself into one of the chairs. "I just got finished dealing with Elizabeth. I sent her home for some rest..." Fordring explained. "I told her to take the next couple of days off... and when she is on light duty... How long? forever." Fordring was drawing a line in the sand and it was showing.
"What's going on with her... Rough pregnancy or something?" Dvald asked softly.
"Yep, she's stressed out beyond her tolerances to cope, she's been in this almost constant state of hypervigilance due to a psionic mishap involving Captain Yamaguchi...Her mother." Fordring explained. "That said... Elizabeth saw something she did not need to be seeing... The death of her unborn child, the breaking of her relationship, and the suicide of her husband... I read her report on the events of what she experienced... a fifty thousand word essay that was dark, depressing and downright disturbing... So disturbing that when I finished. I wanted my husband to hug me and tell me he loved me." Fordring paused. "Fortunately that evening, he was able to remind me of that detail... But Elizabeth has been watching her pregnancy like a hawk ever since." the massive woman let out a soft sigh. "It's wearing her down and she can't do it anymore..."
"Crap..." Dvald paused. "What do we do about her?"
"I've already taken several steps to address the issue at hand... She's a young mother who is pregnant who works in three departments... Honestly Heris, that's way too much for anyone..." Fordring answered. "I need a full veterinarian to replace her... and another counsellor too..." Fordring regarded the smaller Bolian before her, but when one was seven feet tall and massed over four hundred pounds, everyone around them was small. "Heris, we let her do it and we continued to let her work herself to death... This has got to stop..."
Dvald nodded. "It's going to stop. I assume she's dropping being the veterinarian and a counsellor?"
"She is... She's also considering leaving medicine and heading into command." Fordring paused. "If she does... Then it won't be quite the same anymore... Elizabeth is one of those rare people who can inspire everyone else around her..." as the large female let out a soft sigh. "If she does go into command right now, then it will be taken against her... Plus her father is a four-star Admiral which will make things even worse... I'm going to try and talk her out of it... I need to go and see her husband and see if I can elicit his assistance with this matter... I do not need him as my foe..."
Dvald paused as she considered how she would feel if it had been one of her daughters in this situation. "You make excellent points Galiaan... As much as I'd like to argue with you over the matter... Elizabeth is one of our best Doctors... Does more than any two others... Including Sokanon and me." she added. "Give her two weeks leave time, to sort things out. Valen knows she's earned it... All we need is a babysitter for her young son and then she can get some sleep..."
"I'll ask her grandmother to handle matters... I'm sure that Captain Rachael Yamaguchi wouldn't mind looking after her granddaughters baby." Fordring commented. "I'll go and see Kameron first... I am sure that my appearing in the science areas to see him will touch off a couple of rumours... But I'll survive."
Dvald nodded as she processed the details in silence. "Galiaan... We need to prepare for the possibility that Elizabeth wants out and won't change her mind," she stated before she huffed a sigh at the taller woman before her.
"Yes, your right. we do." Fordring answered. "To address that. I'll take the direct approach..." as the massive woman slowly grinned. "I'll ask her," she commented. "The direct approach is best after all," she added.
"Fair enough then," Dvald answered. "Siaxx loves the members of that family... Especially Beth and Rachael..."
"One doesn't need to go far to understand why... Siaxx needed some serious support during the assignment to the USS Roanoke and the Yamaguchi's provided it for her..." Fordring explained. "Is there anything else we should address before I get going?"
"No... Keep me informed please?" Dvald asked.
"Consider it done." as the massive woman rose to her feet and departed in silence.
