It's Hour Come Round - Part One

Posted on Fri Dec 31st, 2021 @ 8:00pm by Captain Anthony Kuuztin & Commander Sohnaxx Dvald & Fleet Captain Marie Yamaguchi

Mission: Mission 110: Blue on Blue
Location: Various Locations - USS Stalingrad
Timeline: 0830Hrs - October 27th, 2393

Sohnaxx Dvald walked into the sickbay of the USS Stalingrad as she smiled. "Good Morning Doctor." she addressed one of her medics who nodded to her. "Hey, Doctor. I have the morning report for you." the nurse commented as she held a PADD in her delicate-looking fingers.

"Nice." Dvald answered. "Let's step into my office, and let's go over the matter." The small-limbed Bolian female explained with a gentle smile as she moved into the space in question, she then sat down in front of the desk rather than behind it, it was her usual style as she saw the desk as a barrier between her and her people whom she cared about, she had children, grandchildren, and thanks to Siaxx, a great-grandchild to consider. The doctor sat down next to the smaller Bolian female as she lifted the PADD. "The forty-two cases of wounded we took on yesterday after seizing the USS Queen Mary. We're presently escorting the ship in question to Starbase 54. The IKS Korinar has departed, heading back to her own yards, apparently for a small refit." the human female explained.

"So, sounds like command has things in hand," Dvald answered with a gentle smile on her face. Suddenly as if to ruin the moment, the comm system beeped. "Yamaguchi to Dvald, Sohnaxx. Could you drop by my office please, I have someone on subspace who desires to speak with you and with me." came the rather odd statement.

"I'm on my way," Dvald answered, she opted to not ask any stupid questions as she had a feeling that all would be explained soon enough, as she plucked her medkit from where it had been sitting atop her desk and out the door, the small Bolian female went.

Dvald made her way into a turbolift and emerged on the bridge before she moved into the skipper's ready room. Inside she found Fleet Captain Marie Yamaguchi talking to a man that neither woman seemed to know. "Ahh... Sohnaxx... Good." she commented evenly. "This is Captain Anthony Kuuztin, he's in the market for a good Exec, and your name was at the top of his rather short-list..." Yamaguchi explained why the small Bolian had been summoned forth.

"Well, it's nice to have good references," Dvald commented. "Good day Captain. How may this old one help?" she inquired, a gentle smile on her lips.

"Well. As Captain Yamaguchi already said... I am looking for a new Executive Officer. I contacted her as I wished there to be no issues or problems arising from my attempting to poach you from your present assignment." Kuuztin answered. "I am given to understand that you posted a request for reassignment to advance your career some time ago, is that still in effect or did you rescind that request?"

"No, my request is still in effect..." Dvald answered as she looked at Yamaguchi who nodded in agreement.

"I see..." Kuuztin answered. "As I said, I do not wish to cause issues when none exist."

"Do not be troubled Captain, there are no issues. I stuck in my request awhile ago... I... I want out of medicine... I'd seen too many good people die because of stupid crap... and I want to be able to have a more direct hand in matters rather than being handed cases that should not have needed to come to me in the first place." Dvald quickly realized that this was a job interview in disguise and she had about thirty seconds to present her case. "My track record is... I feel, excellent and it speaks for itself, as does my service record."

"Yes." Kuuztin agreed with a nod as he raised his hand to show that he was holding a PADD. "You come highly recommended, your skipper stuck in a letter for you."

Dvald raised an eyebrow. "How kind of her." she smiled.

"You were expecting something else?" Kuuztin inquired, he regarded her with a curious look on his face.

"I was expecting nothing as I deserved nothing..." Dvald answered in a flat tone of voice. "I should not expect to be honoured for doing what's right..."

Kuuztin raised an eyebrow at that statement. "Why did you come back to Starfleet then?." he paused. "Does the Captain's rank means nothing to you, then?"

"I wouldn't go that far..." Dvald answered. "I came back to get away from my brother who is now dead after he..." she paused. "Shall we say, he assaulted one of my children, very nearly destroying my family in the process... I walked the first time because I wanted to try and find some peace, I found it out of uniform but then my brother started to came back into my life, he tried to manipulate me and my husband, we both came back to the service as a result."

"I see..." Kuuztin answered. "I need an Executive officer who's more than just spit and polish Sohnaxx... Mind if I call you Sohnaxx?, or do you prefer something else."

"Sohnaxx is fine." the older Bolian answered with a nod of her head. "I have been called far worse and far more interesting too. You may call me whatever you prefer, so long as I know you are addressing me," she added.

"Fair enough..." Kuuztin responded as he regarded her, she made his gaze with her own, unintimidated in the slightest. He slowly smiled. "Commander. I contacted you first out of my rather shortlist as I had a feeling you had what I needed... Someone who can measure up to the expectations and ideals... I also wanted someone who won't say yes to every single order I give..."

"If you want me to be a yesman then I'm afraid you'll have to look somewhere else dear... I don't have time at my age to do so." Dvald answered.

"Good. Do you want the posting as my executive officer?" Kuuztin decided to be directly on the matter.

"I do," Dvald answered with a nod of her head.

"Very well, you are now my new Executive officer. I am presently at Vanguard with the new Guardian-class USS Courageous... How soon can you get back here?"

Yamaguchi smiled as she nodded. "About a week or so, if that's alright, I need to stop by Starbase 54 to conclude this matter that I'm involved in. But if not then I can cut that down if needed."

"No Captain, a week is plenty of time," Kuuztin answered with a gentle smile on his lips. "I'm looking forward to meeting you Commander..." as he nodded to her. "Kuuztin out." and with that, the message ended.
