Giving Birth: The Draenei Blues

Timeline: 0900Hrs - 14th August, 2392

Master Warrant Officer Se'yal Stormsong sighed softly as she looked down at the sizeable baby bump she was carrying before her. Presently the two Dranaei along with a nurse and Lieutenant Girani Semna were in birthing room one, preparing for the birth of two babies from the pregnant Master Warrant Officer.

Se'yal and the other Dranaei gave birth to live young rather than eggs as many had assumed. The female smiled as she recalled Maraad's reaction when she had told him that little detail, the peels of her own laughter had been drowned out by his unabashed roars of laughter.

Lieutenant Girani Semna regarded the Dranaei with a smile. "How are you feeling this morning Se'yal?" the Bajoran asked in gentle tones.

"Abused," Stormsong responded as she sighed softly. "Much like humans and Bajorans, we birth live young however ours are about half the size of yours... We tend to have ours in groups of two or three..." the Master Warrant officer explained in a soft tone of voice.

"That explains why you are having two of them," Girani responded with a smile.

Maraad Skyshatter had a smile on his face as he was going to become a father for the first time and it wasn't something he was going to take lightly, he had been spending a lot of time recently with his new mate. Se'yal had appreciated his attention and affections towards her and now after all the two of them had been through together, she found she preferred his company over most others.

Their relationship had started by accident last November on the human's calendar and now she was ready to cement their relationship in the Dranaei tradition. "You still wish to do this?" she inquired of him.

Skyshatter regarded her with a gentle look in his eyes. "Se'yal... What sort of question is that?" he inquired of her.

"Well, I wasn't sure... I mean I have no right to demand anything of you." Stormsong responded quietly.

"You worry far too much Se'yal," Maraad responded in a gentle tone of voice.

Se'yal sighed as she went to respond but was cut off by a surge of pain that rippled through her, her body's way of telling her to keep quiet and focus on her birth which was now impending. Maraad noticed as he gently took her smaller hand in his massive one.

Girani returned her attention to what her tricorder was telling her. That the female Dranaei was about to deliver two healthy children. "Easy Se'yal. We're ready... You can start pushing whenever you are ready." and with that, the Draenei female took a single deep breath before she took a moment, then she began pushing her two children out of her body.

Maraad watched her in silence, gently holding her hand with his left and gently rubbing her shoulder with his right. "We're right here... We're not going anywhere," he said quietly.

Stormsong grunted and groaned as she worked to push her two babies out of her body, after an indeterminate length of time at least for her anyway, she was rewarded with the sounds of the first one and then two babies crying loudly.

Stormsong calmed herself as she focused on her breathing as the female Dranaei relaxed, moments later out came the placental matter which was scooped up by one of the nurses and placed in a waste disposal container.

Stormsong meanwhile received one of her two sons, the other was in the gentle care of his father. Skyshatter smiled while he regarded his son. "I name you... Akama. Welcome to our world Akama Skyshatter."

Girani Semna regarded the female Draenei while she named their second child Nobundo Skyshatter, she repeated Maraad's greeting to the child in her arms.

Skyshatter gently plucked the second child from his mother as he could see that the female Dranaei was exhausted. "I'll get out from underfoot and let your people look after her... and the twins." the massive male commented evenly.

"Sounds good to me Chief. However I'm going to want to keep those two around, it'll do their mother the world of good to have them present."

"I will not deprive her of that feeling," Skyshatter responded with smile.
