| Personal History | Maraad Skyshatter grew up as a happy and well-adjusted child on the planet Argus in the heart of the Draenei Confederation, he joined his home's military and quickly rose through the ranks to command one ship the later a wing and then later on still, his own battlefleet It was around the time he got command of his own fleet that the Al'keshians started making trouble for the Draenei, he was asked to hold the line and instead he went and dealt with the Al'keshians as they deserved With one fleet he was able to take down a much stronger enemy force through guile and wits rather than brute force. Maraad was also an honorable foe and he decided to let his enemies surrender rather than exterminate them as others recommended, the Draenei Confederation quickly conquered the Al'keshian nation as a result of this war. Finding himself feted as a war hero, he decided to retire after a century of serving in the Draenei military and he decided to go and explore the spaces between the stars, he went off alone and seemed to disappear into the wastes between the stars of the milky way, instead he ended up going to the Federation where he applied for Federation citizenship, after a year or so, he was granted it. He applied to join Starfleet Academy and thus he packed what little he owned and went off to San Fransisco to learn things he already knew, it was little surprise he graduated around the middle of his class since he was an outsider, and he didn't really try hard where others tried much harder, got to graduate higher then he did, he also was assisting others too with their workloads. His first posting was to the USS Copernicus, an Oberth class ship he felt was little more than a manned space probe, it was small and clunky so after sticking out for a year, he requested a transfer to anyone seeking security troopers, his request was honored and off he went to the USS Orion. His rise through the ranks was steady if unremarkable, he was around the ending of the conflicts with the Klingons and the Romulans, but he would be present for the rise of the new challenges with the Cardassian the Breen. Eventually, he would earn his own command, the USS Marquand, one of the newer Excelsior class ships with the rank of Commander and he would earn his captain's rank by twenty-three thirty-five. He would command the Marquand for ten years before he was offered a transfer to a Starbase but as he felt he needed a break, he decided to return to the Starfleet academy for more training, citing ten years of exploration missions and a dozen first contacts, all of which went well. He earned his piloting license in a year or so but he crammed in some extra courses for science and medicine as well, but he was offered a job to fly a freighter in the private sector and as the work was steady, he decided to accept and take a break from Starfleet. Many in Starfleet were sad to see Maraad leave their ranks but he didn't like that Starfleet was muzzling itself against its opponents, and by 2350, Starfleet's ships were all older then ever before and the newer designs were weaker than the older designs so he resigned in protest and went off to work in the private sector. He was gone almost fifteen years before he learned of the Borg threat from several old friends who once served under his command on the Marquand but were now Admirals who felt he had a right to know about this new threat. Maraad decided to enlist rather than simply return for his commission, and it remained like this through Wolf 359 and the first Borg attack, all the way up to the beginning of the Klingons war with the Federation. Maraad showcased just how good he was at warcrafting tactics and strategy to suit his needs, the Klingons quickly learned that this alien was a frighteningly dangerous foe on the battlefield even outnumbered he would sometimes win but Maraad was never cocky or arrogant about it, he simply saw it as a job that needed to be done so he went and did it, it did not mean he relished it or even enjoyed it. He remained in command of this battlegroup of six Defiant class ships which was later reinforced with six Sabre class frigates to bring him up to an acceptable number, his kill count for the Dominion War was something he never bothered to write down but he earned himself a promotion to Commodore and later to Rear Admiral after the end of the war but his enjoyment in the center chair had soured by now and he demanded to be returned to his enlistment rank. which he was granted, his rank was set at Chief Petty Officer and he went off to his next posting. The USS Amagi was almost a boring assignment as he had gotten used to the paperwork that a Rear Admiral needed to do and he hated it, this was a major factor in his demand to be returned to being an enlisted man. He was assigned to the Enterprise-E for one tour which he relished but he was only here as a temp assignment lasting one year before being assigned to Starbase 12 where he would remain for ten years before being requested to help clean out the USS Roanoke as her Exec had filed reports that this ship needed serious attention from command,. Maraad was only too happy to comply with the rest and off he went, to the unwanted bastard stepchild of the fleet, his service here has been rather unremarkable up to this point, minus the beating of Elizabeth Yamaguchi at the hands of a doctor who couldn't explain why he didn't give Tienn a chance before arresting her outright and throwing her in the brig. Now he's busy dealing with a drugs epidemic as well as this assault case but over the case of the next few weeks, he would learn that Tienn was not directly responsible for what happened before being ultimately acquitted. Skyshatter wasn't given long to process the news before the security personnel alongside the Marines ultimately busted the people responsible for the drugs ring aboard the Roanoke. During the hanger deck fire, he assisted in engineering with damage control. He was able to help save the ship. Maraad's time remaining on the USS Roanoke was eventful and educational to the man but he was rotated off the USS Roanoke before she was lost at the hands of the Klingons over Goranar. The need for good officers meant that Maraad was requested by others to have his Starfleet commission restored and so he agreed but at the rank of Captain rather then Rear Admiral. Starfleet agreed and he was sent to Starbase 45 to become the Executive Officer assigned to the base. He took his two young sons with him as he could look after them whereas Se'yal could not as she was assigned to a ship that was simply too small to do the job required of it. A year later, Maraad was reassigned to Starbase Vanguard after a dispute between himself and Admiral Hunt ended violently with Jerome Hunt assaulting Skyshatter who was defending himself. Hunt very nearly ended up dead for the affront and Skyshatter was reassigned as a result, however no punative action was taken against Skyshatter and he ended up with a promotion due to his skills in other areas. |
