Orthos McKnight was in the kitchen as he was busy flipping eggs that he was frying in a pan while a young woman who was most certainly not his wife was sitting at the kitchen table, reading a PADD. "Wow, that smells good. Do you always cook like this?" Melody McKnight-Yamaguchi inquired with a wide smile on her youthful face.
"Oh yeah, more or less every night," Orthos answered.
"The neighbors must love it when you cook, they probably find excuses to come over," Melody commented, an easy smile on her lips.
"Well. They are indeed a duplicitous bunch, they love my cooking but they don't like sticking around." he chuckled softly. "Probably because of the cleanup, then there is Edward," Orthos answered evenly as he moved the fried eggs from the pan to the plate before he quickly broke two more eggs into the pan, then he began to cook them. "I think you and Daisy would get along... Assuming she doesn't think the worst."
"Now who's being negative?" Melody commented evenly as she gave him a look. "Let your wife do that, god knows she might be, considering she has no idea who I am... Or did you tell her who I was?"
"No. Daisy has met most of the others. She's even survived mom and Karax as well as Karass."
"Uncle Karass is quite a tortured soul, he's come a long way but man, does he have work to do." Melody commented. "Isn't he supposed to be seeing someone?" the younger female brightened considerably.
"Lieutenant Orianna, his helm officer but he's not spoken about it in months so I assume they ended their fling," Orthos explained, a moment later the door opened and in came Major Daisy Rohr.
"Hey, Daisy." Orthos greeted his wife. "Edward is sleeping at the present time and its time you two met," he commented. "Daisy, meet Melody." he handled the introductions.
Melody gave Daisy a wide smile. "Hey, Daisy. It's good to meet you."
"Howdy," Daisy replied. "So, Melody, Orthos has a lot of family members. Where do you fit in?"
"I'm the one that dad." Melody indicated Orthos as she spoke. "Neglected to tell anyone about. I guess you could say I came from mail order." she paused.
"Melody was the one child I had after Vanessa died," Orthos explained. "Melody's mother was... A special case. I was going through the pon far and I got her mother pregnant, it was an accident that intertwined our lives in complicated and fascinating ways." There was something in Orthos's tone as he said his statement.
"Mom demanded that dad has nothing to do with her but Dad decided that he would man up and raised me the first few years of life, since then he and mom shared joint custody of me, I would live with whichever one of them could afford the time to raise me." Melody noticed his tone so she took a moment to explain the issues.
"Your mom had horrible taste in men," Orthos responded a tad bluntly.
"I'm glad Jerome Hunt is dead, I would have killed himself quite happily for what he did to her."
"You and me both. Dad." Melody paused. "But enough about our complicated relationship, Whats up Daisy...?" she inquired cheerfully of the part Klingon female before her. "Dad mentioned you to me before but he told me little, saying that you had the right to tell me yourself."
Daisy smiled back at Melody. "Not sure there is much to say. I'm not a complicated person and I'm not good at keeping secrets. So, are you here on leave?" Daisy asked.
"Actually. I'm between assignments andI'm hearing I might be assigned to one of those new Odin class monsters that are starting to appear," she commented with a grin. "What about you two.?"
Orthos raised an eyebrow. "I'm more or less heading to take over as Command master chief of IFO's First Independent fleet, I'll be assigned to her flagship."
"And I'll be tagging along for the time being," Daisy added. "I want to spend more time raising our kids. When they get a little older I'll return to Star Fleet."
Melody nodded. "I can understand," she commented with a smile, as she quickly realized that Daisy was about her age, if not then she was a couple of years older them Melody herself was. "I have this feeling that we might all be assigned together. That could be interesting."
Orthos regarded his daughter. "How so? it would annoy your mother."
"Ahh but that's the best part," Melody answered before she grinned at her father. "You and I both know that Talon Yeager has enough to worry about in life without me adding to it."
"Like I said, your mother will be most annoyed with you, and with me."
Orthos answered, in a flat tone.
"You never told me what branch of Star Fleet that you serve in, Melody. What kind of job do you do?" Daisy asked, trying to avoid why Talon would be annoyed, at least for now.
"I'm an Operations officer, a computer geek," Melody responded quietly. "Dad wanted me to take a more balanced view in regards to my career and skillset, Mom wanted me to focus on one. in this case, Tactical."
"Yes," Orthos answered. "I deliberately got involved as you knew I would. Your mother was too harsh on the matter. It seems I was right."
"Yes. Mom is still upset about it." Melody answered evenly.
"She will get over it." Orthos then shrugged in a matter that indicated he did not care either way. "Or she won't. I care little about her choices and the fact that she carries grudges." Orthos narrowed his eyes. "Your mom really must clean up her act."
