Mission:
Mission 93: Home Grown Fear and Terror
Location: Hospital Complex on B kayor
Timeline: July 10th 2392
Raskar Wuko sat in the marine lounge watching the latest Federation news. For the past week, his unit has been assigned to bolster the security for the fast-growing hospital complex on B kayor, which was busy deassimialting Borg, as well as treating Ferasians. Though Raskar wasn't a huge fan of the fairly boring detail, it did get his unit off Lancaster. Though the other marine commanders were generally decent, he couldn't stand the ships Starfleet crew.
The latest news report that showed up on the viewscreen had a news anchor talking to Randy Cruz, a former Starfleet Admiral now turned a member of the political group known as the Federation home defense army. Raskar could tell that the man was a shifty piece of work and a racist, as he openly spoke out against admitting refugee's into the federation and even implied of the existence of a plot against humanity.
New moon, who was sitting nearby shook his head in disgust, "What a piece of crap, that jackass thinks the Federation and humanity are the same things."
Raskar nodded, "Unfortunately, just another human whom thinks his species is the center of the universe."
Major Tienn Nerra had been sitting nearby, she wore engineering gold but wore a Marine rank insignia on her collar. "When you look at the Federation's history and its leadership, the vast majority of times it's been led by humans, it's also been the same with Starfleet command." the small Bajoran female explained.
The more massive Bajoran female seated next to her, smiled as she was wearing medical teal but she looked almost identical to the smaller Bajoran female next to her. "This human-centric attitude has grown very strong now."
"And yet humanity's share of the population has only been decreasing." Raskar remarked, "Now humanity makes up less than 20% of the population of the Federation, and I think that their political leaders don't like that."
The smaller Tienn shrugged her shoulders. "Fucking heart bleeds for them," she responded in a snide tone of voice. "Do we look human guys?" she inquired with a smile.
Tienn Ezas sipped her drink before she looked around the area. "Listen to that shithead, he's complaining about a conspiracy."
Raskar curled his long fluffy tail around himself. "Yeah, I remember he complained very vocally when the rules regarding my species and uniforms were changed."
Tienn Nerra nodded. "Yes, they couldn't shut up about the uniform changes. Personally, I liked the changes. I mean if I had fur, what the khosst do I need with clothing?"
The larger Tienn finished her drink. "I'll admit that the older uniform while being practical for those of us without fur, wasn't always the most comfortable," she commented. "We were stuck with an undershirt, a vest, and a jacket," she explained. "I myself would frequently overheat."
Randy Cruz then shifted his tone during the interview. He started to rant on about how the OISU caused the Klingon refugee problem and he openly called them a threat to the Federation security. He proceeded to spend the next ten minutes ranting about the OISU, blaming them for a lot of the Federation's problems.
Tienn Ezas sighed while she shook her head as she indicated the wall monitor with her hands. "You believe the nerve of this guy?"
The smaller Tienn simply laughed. "I think he's drunk or stoned." she paused. "I want some. If the drugs are that good. They must be helpful in easing stress and relaxing."
"He only says it because he knows that there are dumb shit's who will listen to him," Darktail grumbled.
Tienn Nerra nodded her head in agreement. "Tell me about it," she growled. "Some people just don't wanna use their brains."
Tienn Ezas held her silence a moment. "Wait.." the tall Bajoran woman paused. "Why are we watching this garbage anyway?" she inquired.
"Because of that part," Raskar pointed at the screen as the anchor began asking some very uncomfortable questions, which caused Randy to become visibly nervous. At one point, the anchor all but accused him of racism.
Tienn Nerra suddenly grinned as she watched Cruuz snap back at the news anchor, accusing her of being ignorant and that she didn't know what was really going on. "Go on sweetie, Fuck him with it!" Tienn called loudly.
Tienn Ezas chuckled softly while she shook her head. "Leave it to you to open your mouth Tienn."
"I'm your sibling. I'm also a Marine who was, until a month ago, was bedding a Klingon." as she grinned at her sibling. "Yes. K'taro is your brother in law." the smaller female shrugged. "I like seeing assholes getting it stuck to them," she added.
Tienn Ezas grinned. "I'm glad you found someone worthy of you." as she regarded her smaller sibling. "How's your pregnancy going?"
"I'm still sneezing a lot." Tienn Nerra sighed softly. "How do you handle it?"
"You get used to it after a time," Ezas answered with a soft giggle.
Finally, Cruz just walked out of the interview room, but made a loud noise off camera, indicated that he kicked something in rage. The News anchor rolled her eyes then moved on to the next story.
Tienn grinned. "Well, that was just stupid. Why did they even waste our time with this guy?"
Raskar then asked the question. "So, what do you guys think of this HDA."
Tienn Ezas was the first to answer. "They are a joke, but they think everyone out there who isn't human, is a threat to them." as the smaller Bajoran simply waved her hand as if dismissing a rather irritating pest. "They are a relic of the past. We do not need them around."
Sergent Major Jeffery Duval had just caught the tail end of the argument on the wall monitor as he smiled at the gathering before him. "Hey guys and gals." he addressed the table and everyone present as he sat down before he shifted his attention to the larger Bajoran female to his left. "Well, it looks like the restless ghosts of Christmas past don't want to go into the good night forever. I think we're stuck with this for a while yet. Its passing will not be gentle and will not be slow either."
The Anchor then moved on to her next report, that the Federation Council was now debating on the Federation defense force Act. Raskar then commented, "Well, looks like the Federation Council might actually wise up about the defense of the Federation."
Duval smiled. "It's already a half-century late but hey, whos counting right?"
Tienn Nerra smiled as she lifted her glass of water. "Nah, it's nice that it's finally happening, we need more people and more resources. It's nice that we have a President who finally will tell these fucking human dipshit colony worlds to fuck off and get things done."
"Well, we will see," Darktail commented, "The human worlds have been resistant to the Federation defense force act for years now."
The news anchor then reported that the latest polling indicated that over 60% of the Federation Council was in favor of the act, which prompted Darktail to continue. "But maybe this time enough of them have wised up."
"A lot of people are pretty terrified since the thalaron bomb incident on Lark-54," Raskar observed. "Plus from what I have heard, due to all the commitments Starfleet has, the fleet CiC has stopped using Starfleet resources to patrol all the small colony worlds."
The two Tienn's traded a look. "I'm not surprised that that happened. Considering that Starfleet has been overloaded for months now. We just finished a major orgy with the Klingons and the fleet needs time in the medical bay, making sure it's still working right." Ezas commented
"Wow, that was downright dirty. I see you have sex on the brain." Nerra sighed. "My older sister, thinking with her hormones. But that's normal for you."
"Ladies.?" Duval inquired, with a smile on his lips. "The fleet is in a body and fender shop and the challenges are rising, not going away."
