Torilla Returns - Questions and Explanations
Posted on Thu Mar 12th, 2020 @ 5:20am by Lieutenant Commander Gabriel Yamaguchi & Lieutenant Savannah Yamaguchi & Fleet Captain Torilla Yamaguchi
Mission:
Mission 87: Torilla Returns
Location: Various Locations - USS Dreamcrusher
Timeline: 1900Hrs May 28th, 2392
Lieutenant Savannah Yamaguchi knew her husband wasn't in the mood to go anywhere other than their living room table with a simple dinner that didn't fill either of them, in truth it had been hours since that massive pizza earlier today and the sudden introduction of a Kurokuri? or was it a Leokuri? who called herself Torilla Yamaguchi.
Savannah no longer knew what to think anymore as she was in desperate need of time to process the details, unfortunately, she was lacking said time to process the recent events while she rose to her feet from the sofa she had been sitting on, watching her husband do push ups, she could tell he was upset just through his body language as she ordered two chocolate milkshakes. "Mmm. This is for you when you finish your workout." Savannah commented as she went back to the sofa where she had been sitting earlier, she had been working on a report for the Executive Officer regarding the wounded in her department while the USS Spirit of Winter was returning back to the dockyards, loaded down with wounded.
Gabriel and Savannah had both been reassigned to bolster the ranks on the Dreamcrusher. Lieutenant Commander Nettles and Commander McKnight were locking horns to the point where she demanded instant reassignment away from him, he had agreed that a change of venue would be best as their relationship had completely broken down. Now Savannah was acting Chief Operations officer until someone new could be brought in.
Gabriel meanwhile was helping out in the ships Tactical department with weapons inventories and the like, he had been assisting Lieutenant Isabella Rojas with her workload which had been cut drastically since he had arrived on the Dreamcrusher.
"Forty-eight, forty-nine, fifty," Gabriel growled as he climbed back to his feet, not even winded after his fourth set of fifty push ups each, since this conflict had started, he had lost close to ten pounds due to simply not eating and always being busy for extended periods of time, also there was the recent death of his mother to throw into the mix and one ended up with something truly nasty.
Gabriel had been ensnared in his own pain and grief. Savannah tried to help as best as she could but she didn't have his connections with Torilla as she let out a sigh. "Drink your milkshake Gabe," she said in a light tone of voice.
"Yeah." Gabe picked up his milkshake before he drank a mouthful from it. "I don't know Savv." he added a moment later.
"Know what?" Savannah inquired further.
"Was that really mom who was with us at dinner today?" Gabriel inquired. "I have my doubts."
"I don't know," Savannah admitted. "But she knew details only we would know. She was right about Kam and Beth's marriage, their surprise wedding shocked everyone but she was right about details of my giving birth to Gideon. Back on four hundred." she reminded him. "Until we see proof otherwise, let's assume it is her." Savannah spread her hands as if asking for something before her eyes went wide, indicating she had said something provocative and wanted an instant response.
"I don't see how," Gabriel admitted, clearly unsure.
"Did you ever read Rachael's report on Akurian medical technology, it was filed away and forgotten about." Savannah indicated the PADD nearby. "I pulled it up and read it over. Rachael's reporting style could honestly use a little work but she knows what she's talking about."
Gabriel shifted his attention from the empty space he had been staring into, over to his wife. "What?"
"Yes," she responded before she picked up the PADD and handed it to him. "Have a read. It's educational. That person at lunch could very easily have been mom."
Gabriel read the report, it was almost sixty-one pages of mostly technobabble but it was in Rachael's hand and he could easily tell his younger siblings handwriting style, it was blunt and mostly to the point with a few educated guesses tossed in to round out the mix. "Rachael knew about this and she didn't tell us.?"
"No," Savannah responded. "Don't be getting paranoid about this Gabe. This is your sister we're speaking of here. She had assumed that we already knew all of this already and that her report had been taken seriously, which in this case, it wasn't and nobody knows about this." as she gave her husband a look. "Now 'that' I have a theory on." as her smile widened. "But like I just said, no need to get paranoid unless I have something to be paranoid about," she commented. "Right?"
Gabriel nodded his head as he drank another mouthful of his milkshake when suddenly the doorbell beeped at them both. The two shared a look. "I'll get it," she commented since she was wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top where as he was just wearing a pair of shorts.
She stood up and went over to the door, opening it, Savannah found herself face to face with empty air, before she glanced down and there was the small being from earlier today, the Wexx Jorkuri from lunch. "Hello," Torilla said patiently.
"Oh hey," Savannah responded. "Come in," she added before she turned and went back into her quarters. Torilla followed only to crash her left arm onto the doorframe with a loud crunch.
"Oh... right." Torilla sighed as she got up. "I forgot." and with that, she entered the home that her son shared with his wife and children. Savannah regarded her with concern. "You okay?"
"This body is a mechanical construct," Torilla explained. "I can walk into walls and doors while not feeling anything." she paused. "All I am is a disembodied brain inside an android body." she paused. "I feel so small and helpless. I can't read anyone, I feel.." she sighed. "I didn't come here to bother you with my issues. I came to help you with your issues."
Gabriel regarded the small being before him, he wanted to believe that this was his mother. "Why did I create my holonanny program in your image, with your personality and your style of parenting.?" he asked of her.
Savannah raised an eyebrow. Even she didn't know the answer to this one but Gabriel had always told her that he liked his mother's counsel in life.
"Because you knew I wasn't always going to be there and with you and Savannah-" she indicated her daughter-in-law while she spoke "- On duty most of the time, you wanted the very best pair of hands with your children's safety, you wanted me to help you but you knew I couldn't be there. So you recruited Savv here to help with what you called 'Portable-mom.'
Savannah paused. "I didn't know any of this," she admitted.
"There was no reason you should have sweetie. Gabe and I were very close and he asked me for my thoughts, my permission to use my personal profile and my likeness for it. It was mothers day and he didn't have a gift for me." the small being paused. "He gave me the greatest gift ever. A young man's love for his mother."
Gabriel paused, as he began fighting off tears that threatened to overwhelm him. "What happened to you out there!?" he demanded of Torilla.
Torilla knew what the two of them wanted so she wasted no time in sharing with either of them. "Well, I was on the bridge of the Courageous. It used to be auxiliary control but was reinforced with extra armor and I simply moved my command down there while I had the bridge up on deck one ripped out and it was in the process of being replaced with a small garden but the Klingons attacked us and ended that plan."
Torilla paused. "Okay. We were escorting a supply convoy to Goranar. The Courageous and six destroyers with two Heavy Cruisers, none of which were assigned to Roanoke's group. The Klingons came at us specifically, ramming our starboard nacelle and demolishing it, along with the Klingon ship that had rammed us." she paused. "The explosion crippled our shields and weapons, we tried to launch as many of our fighters as we could but it was too little and too late." She then sighed.
Yamaguchi paused before she continued. "The second Klingon ship rammed our secondary hull, leaving a truly massive hull breach while the third Klingon ship rammed us about four seconds later, finishing the job and destroying the port nacelle. This removed our warp capability but it was the collision of the fourth Klingon ship that triggered several internal explosions, thanks to it slamming into Courageous's forward saucer section. At that point, I was incapacitated by a piece of flying debris that went right through me. I was still awake at that point and I recall lying on the floor with this wetness spreading around me. I then realized that it was my blood. I then said something to Morales before everything went black. I assume I died at that point."
"So you did die," Gabriel answered. "You also suffered."
"I didn't feel anything specific actually. I was numb but that was because I was in shock." Torilla explained lightly. "The next thing I know was I was revived on the twenty second. In this body. I got to see my original body and it's not a pretty sight. If it was going to be buried then it would be a closed casket." Torilla explained.
Gabriel regarded her quietly. He was now convinced that this being was his mother so he gently picked her up, her eyes went wide as she protested in surprise but she calmed almost instantly as she felt her son hug her. "I'm glad you're here."
Savannah smiled but she held her silence as she watched mother and son together.
