Torilla Returns: Last Ditch Intervention

Posted on Thu Mar 12th, 2020 @ 5:07am by Lieutenant Commander Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar & Lieutenant Commander Jory Cassel & Lieutenant JG Rachael "Ripcord" Yamaguchi-Cullen

Mission: Mission 87: Torilla Returns
Location: USS Alaska - Corridor 12B and USS Dreamcrusher - Sickbay
Timeline: 1300Hrs, May 28th, 2392

Warrant Officer Rachael Yamaguchi smiled as she placed a large chunk of metal against a hole in the bulkhead, while Rachael was not the largest Yamaguchi, she was, however, one of the strongest Yamaguchi's as she quickly donned her goggles and then she began gamma-welding the piece of sheet metal into place.

Moments later the young woman was finished as she admired her handiwork, it wasn't pretty but it would serve until a shipyard overhaul could restore this ship back to normal but for now, she had been assigned to the USS Alaska to assist with repairs and nowadays she answered to Lt Commander Kaitlin Nesbitt who was very hands-on and down to Earth, as the saying went but she was also far more approachable than Commander Ra'Vak. However on this day, she found herself answering to Lt Commander Jory Cassel, he was more of a knight from a thousand years earlier in Earth's chronicles rather than an engineer but he was open-minded and kept a level head throughout some real major battles.

Rachael finished her assignment before she drew the PADD she had in her back pocket. Rachael smiled as she checked this item off of her PADD before she secured her gear. Suddenly her combadge beeped. "Yamaguchi-Cullen here. Go?"

"Rachael." came the response from Commander Cassel, her new boss for today. "You are needed on the USS Dreamcrusher. Would you mind going to pay their sickbay a visit?"

Rachael paused, she wasn't being asked to handle an extra job or a medical issue. "Sure Commander. I can handle it." Yamaguchi-Cullen narrowed her eyes as she frowned. "I'm available now. Should I head over?"

"Sure. I don't need you but apparently, their medical personnel are looking for you. Good luck Warrant. Out." Cassel finished before the comm line went silent.

Yamaguchi-Cullen shrugged before she began packing away her gear into her pack before the smaller woman slung it over her shoulders and her armored Starfleet uniform, her next destination was the transporter room so she began to make her way there before heading over to the Dreamcrusher.

The young woman was sure she looked to be quite an intimidating sight in her armor as she went down the hallway. Yamaguchi-Cullen walked into sickbay a moment later, before she went over to the desk. "Hey. I was asked to come over and see you guys."

"You Rachael Yamaguchi-Cullen?" The nurse behind the desk inquired in a hopeful tone, indicating something bad was happening at the present time.

"I am, or at least I was, last I checked," Yamaguchi-Cullen responded with a chuckle.

"Well. you, my dear, are wanted in that office, right over there. I was asked for you by name.." she paused. "Could you go resolve the dispute, presently taking place?"

"Dispute?" Yamaguchi-Cullen paused. "Okay." and with that, the young woman went into the office as she found two officers having a very nasty argument. "You are out of your mind." Doctor Conrad Adrian snapped at his opponent.

"You're just being ignorant.!" Elizabeth Yamaguchi snapped back in a strident tone of voice. "Ahh, Rachael. You're just in time to prevent me from beating this man to death."

"You are professionally out of line Doctor. I'm going to have your license for this."

"Oh please.." Elizabeth Yamaguchi responded. "You are still in residency and be grateful you are not working with me. I'd have your ass for this!" she snarled angrily.

Rachael knew this was just seconds from getting out of hand as she waved her hand, the light fixture overhead suddenly exploded in a shower of sparks. "Now!" she said calmly. "Why was I dragged from my assignment to attend to you two fighting?" Yamaguchi-Cullen asked.

Adrian pointed to Rachael. "You came because your sister can't fight me alone-"

"Stop talking," Yamaguchi-Cullen responded in a dry tone of voice. "Or I'll deal with you, she won't need to lift a finger." she indicated the massive woman present.

"Of course, she's your sister." the man responded in a snide tone.

"My youngest child behaves better than you and Daniel isn't present," Yamaguchi-Cullen responded. "Now I have a ton of work to do over on the Alaska so... Let's make this-" Rachael started but she was interrupted so she stopped speaking.

"Yes, go away woman. We have no need for you." Adrian responded in a snide tone for the second time in this conversation.

Elizabeth growled softly. "Watch your mouth doctor." she paused. "Okay. I've had enough of this."

Adrian snarled something at Yamaguchi-Cullen, who simply crossed her arms over her chest. "You are not impressing me." was Rachael's response.

Adrian moved to the door. "I will have your head for this!" and with that, he went to the door which oddly enough, did not open. "Whats this!" he then kicked the door. "Fucking busted ship!"

"We are going to discuss this," Yamaguchi-Cullen responded. "So sit your dumb ass down and explain why you are acting worse than my two-year-old infant!" she growled in a tone that brooked no argument whatsoever.

Adrian growled before he plopped his ass into a chair. "Fine... I was saying that nobody has the ability to bring the dead back to life. Anyone who tells you this is full of shit."

Yamaguchi-Cullen regarded her older sibling. "Hmm... Please explain?" she inquired as she was confused. "Why exactly are we here having this dispute anyway?" she added.

"I was saying that there are several thousand Starfleet officers who had returned from the dead due to medical tech owned by the Akurians," Elizabeth explained. "He disagrees with me."

"The deluded dreams of madmen," Adrian muttered.

Yamaguchi-Cullen nodded. "Okay. So.. most of the people we've lost can be resurrected by the Akurian Confederation." she turned. "The Akurians do indeed have that technology." she shrugged before Yamaguchi-Cullen rattled off some words in passable Akurian. "I've spent some years working with these guys. They taught me how to speak some passable Akurian."

Adrian paused. "Oh...How did you know that?"

"That's simple. I kept my eyes and ears open and my mouth closed." Yamaguchi-Cullen explained with a smile. "Also having an open mind really helps. Wisdom can't penetrate a mind that's not open to it."

Elizabeth Yamaguchi watched in silence as her younger sister sorted this issue out, it also reminded her that she needed to work out some of her own issues.

"Now. Yes. the Akurians can indeed resurrect the dead only so long as there is no head trauma, otherwise, they are dead forever." Yamaguchi-Cullen explained evenly. "So. are there any questions?"

Adrian shook his head. "No."

"Good. On your way then. I need to talk to the Lieutenant." Yamaguchi-Cullen responded as the door opened. Doctor Adrian departed in silence as Yamaguchi-Cullen turned to her sibling. "Now, with that issue sorted out. What's the matter with you.?" Rachael asked of Elizabeth.

"Mom is actually still alive," Elizabeth explained softly. "I still can't believe it."

"Well." Rachael sighed. "Somehow I was expecting that little detail to pop up somewhere," Yamaguchi-Cullen responded quietly. "I didn't want to get my hopes up though."

"Wait.. you knew about this, and didn't tell me!?" Yamaguchi paused.

"No. Actually, I didn't know." the younger woman responded. "But I was half expecting you to call me in tears, telling me this news."

"You don't seem to be shedding any tears over the fact that our mother is alive," Elizabeth commented quietly.

"Weren't you listening?" Yamaguchi-Cullen responded slowly. "I knew the Akurians had this tech all along. I even wrote a long-winded and detailed engineering report which was over sixty pages long on the subject... But clearly, nobody took me seriously. It seems that I am an idiot who can't even write reports right because thousands of families have been told that their kin is dead when in fact they aren't." Yamaguchi-Cullen explained in a soft tone. "You know what I mean... Don't you?" Cullen paused a second time. "You know what kind of shitstorm is about to break right?"

"It's gonna be biblical when that comes out in the wash." the tallest Yamaguchi responded, horror clear as glass in her voice.

"Yeah... Now, I need a drink... and you need to have another lunch. Come on." Yamaguchi-Cullen smiled. "I'll make you a coleslaw salad with the good shit this time." Rachael grinned at her larger and pregnant sibling.

"I didn't know you were a Chef." Elizabeth was confused.

"I have three children and a husband, all four are extremely demanding so I took the time to learn how to cook. Come on. I'll cook you a meal you'll never forget." Rachael responded. "Besides. I've found it to be rather quite relaxing. I've also got some designs for my new kitchen on my next permanent assignment."

"Okay." and with that, the two women departed the sickbay of the Dreamcrusher in silence. "So... what are you gonna toss into this salad?"

"Oh, you'll love this. God knows Saki does and you know how much she loves her vegetables with dinner." Rachael explained. "She loves anything in a salad. I was even able to convince her to eat a steak so long as it was drenched in coleslaw salad."

"Now that's impressive." Elizabeth paused. "Alright Chef, after you."

Rachael simply laughed at that comment.
