Mission: Mission 87: Torilla Returns
Location: Various Locations - USS Manticore
Timeline: 1200Hrs, May 28th, 2392

Commander Tom Lasky nodded to Lt Commander Beth Woerner. "Take us into orbit number one. I'll be in the ready room, starting my paperwork."

"Yessir." the young French woman responded. "Helm, bring us out of warp at the edge of the system, advise all Federation ships with us to do the same."

"Aye, sir." Lieutenant Michael Nelson responded in a crisp tone.

Meanwhile, Commander Lasky moved into the ready room, it still had Commander Duval's effects contained within and Lasky had not yet had a chance to pack them up but then he saw that he was only here on a provisional basis and his assignment wasn't permanent. "I said I'd look after your ship Captain, not replace you," Lasky said quietly, more to himself to anyone else.

Lasky sat down behind the desk as he lifted the first PADD and he started the unending task of paperwork before him. He was onto his sixteenth item when the comm system beeped. "Woerner to Lasky, skipper we have entered orbit."

"Excellent. Give the crew a few hours to spend with their families. I'm sure they will appreciate that."

"Oh yes. we will skipper. Out." and with that, the smaller woman turned. "Put this ship on automatic and pass the word, six hours leave to spend with your families."

Meanwhile, Lasky was onto his last item. "Nice... All light today." he commented to himself as he finished it off, he set it into the 'DONE' pile
before he rose to his feet and walked back onto the bridge. "Commander, the ship is yours. I need to go over to the Ryazar's Shield and talk to their guys about some issues in the supply chain before I head down to see my son."

Woerner smiled. "I'll keep the chair warm skipper. I'll head planetside after I get relieved," she responded. "Then I can go visit my husband and children."

"Alright." and with that Lasky turned and made his way to the transporter room, walking through four sets of doors and a turbolift to get there. He went over to the Ryazar's Shield before heading for their command center, he figured that he'd start there.

Lasky reached his destination a short time later. "Hello. I'm here to see someone in the supply chain. I'm looking to work out some issues that have popped up."

Hyril Akarim was busy brushing her tail when Lasky caught her attention. "What issues are happening?."

"Mostly we're apparently not getting some items that are needed at Goranar. I was asked to deliver this request to you." Lasky produced a PADD. "Mostly more medical supplies," he added. "Also I wanted to drop by and visit a few of the Federations wounded."

"Most of your wounded are fairly scattered," Hyril answered, "I think a few may still be onboard, but most are on the planet."

"Alright," Lasky responded quietly. "I'll start with the ones planetside. I'm also here to pick up the consignment of medical supplies. Who do I see for those?"

"Talk to Ukia Erivai," Hyril answered. "She commands our military logistics service, she can get that sorted out."

"Alright. I'll go track her down and get her to sort out my issues then. Then I'm off to the hospital with my people." and with that Lasky departed, his next quarry was a little harder to find but he tracked her down in short order. "Hello. Are you Ukia Erivai by any chance?" he inquired. "I'm Commander Tom Lasky, detailed to take a shipment of Akurian medical supplies to the Gorn front. The admin guys are being stingy with the supplies and I'm on the clock... Could you sort this out for me please?" as he handed her the PADD.

Ukia looked at the PADD then signed off on it," Alright, you're good to go."

"Thank you." and with that Lasky took his leave. His next stop was the Starfleet hospital which he arrived at in twenty minutes after he dropped off the authorization for the paperwork. He entered the building and went over to the front desk. "Hey. I'm here to visit some of the Starfleet wounded. I want them to know I didn't forget about them." he paused. "Who do I see about that?"

The Desk was currently being serviced by a robot, as the Akurians couldn't spare anyone else. So the robot asked. "Are you looking for anyone specific."

"Captain Teval Vakar, if he's available.. or not then no. nobody specific." Lasky responded evenly.

"He is in recovery ward three," The robot answered diligently.

"Thank you," Lasky responded before he turned and began moving off towards the recovery areas. He found his quarry and after checking with the nurse. "Teval. So. This is where they are keeping you these days." Lasky commented.

Teval looked up at Lasky replying. "Well our ship is wrecked and I am still a little too injured to return to duty, so I have just been helping out here." In the room with Teval was a dozen or so Ferasian children as well as his own kids.

"I can tell," Lasky responded. "Not much has been happening. You know about Torilla?." Lasky sighed. "She got killed by the Klingons." he paused. "I didn't know if you know about it."

"Well she is not dead anymore," Teval answered indifferently. " Sure she doesn't have her original biological body, as she was too heavily injured, but she is alive, and walking around in an artificial body now."

Lasky paused. "Wait...what?" he paused. "You. You knew about it?"

"For about six days now," Teval answered.

"Oh.. so Torilla is alive," Lasky responded with a sigh. "How did that happen?"

"My people, have the technology to place someone's brain into an artificial body," Teval explained. "We have very good cybernetics technology, considerably more advanced than what the Federation has. This allows us to transplant someone's brain into either an artificial body or a cloned biological one."

"Ahh." he paused. "But she was reported and listed as killed in action." Lasky paused. "Oh shit.. that means several thousand families were told their relatives were dead when in fact some weren't dead." Lasky paused. "Shit," he muttered.

Teval gave Lasky a puzzled look. "Wait the Akurian medical personnel sent a report to Starfleet Medical on all the people we could save."

"Yes. So I heard but the casualty list was sent on as deceased. Including Torilla. Her family is not taking it well... and my personal opinion is complicated." Lasky sighed. "I need to sit down."

Teval sighed. "Great, well anyway, most of our people that have been revived are around the hospital area or in the surrounding region helping the Ferasian refugees."

"Nice. At least our people are making themselves useful." Lasky commented. "But yes. the list of Starfleet personnel was sent out to the public as all being killed in action. regardless of whether or not they can be revived.

Teval shrugged and then commented. "Well, We will probably have to compile a list of those people who have been revived and send it up to Starfleet for them to correct."

"Yep," Lasky responded. "But this is going to get biblical in the meantime." before he let out a sigh. "So how long before you are back on your feet again?" he inquired. "and any ideas as to where they will send you?... Since we're more or less without a ship."

"I should be fully on my feet in a week or so," Teval answered. "As for where I am going, no nothing has come up. But this conflict with the Klingons may end shortly. According to sources within the empire, Jm'pok's hold on the empire was weak from the beginning and confidence in him has only been eroding. Many in the high council disagree with his actions, and we may see an end to the war soon. But for now, when the crew comes back together they will be free to take leave while we wait for a new ship, as I do have word that Starfleet is working on getting us a new ship, and the crew will mostly stay together."

Lasky nodded his head, while he processed the news he was just informed about. "Alright. Well, let's hope the new USS Roanoke has a better career than the old USS Roanoke." he paused. "We can hope right... Besides, I promised to spend a few hours with my son and I'm gonna do that."
