Saying Goodbye Way Too Early

Mission: Mission 70: Children and the Workplace do Not Mix
Location: USS Roanoke - Orbit over Zekarria
Timeline: 1000Hrs - April 11th, 2392

Teval really didn't like this situation, but he didn't really have a choice, it was for the sake of the children after all. But at least it wont be complete strangers caring for them, as both Seykai and Lakai volunteered to take care of the children. Teval, hakaya, Aerin and Karryn all made sure they where there to say goodbye for the 12 children they where taking care of, then they left to return to their posts. Seykai and Lakai then had all their children board the Akurian shuttle that would take them to Zekarria and behind the protection of its powerful planetary energy shield. They then waited for the other people that they volunteered to watch over.

Commander Tom Lasky's adoption request was in the works but the recent issues had put paid to it, he knew as he watched Teval in silence, while he waited for Siaxx who would be looking after his child, meanwhile around the corner came Captain Yamaguchi with her four. "I'm not permitted to table dependents into combat with me." her two dogs walked before her. "besides.. someone has to look after Nymeria and Grey Wind... I'd rather it be you guys.."

The four really didn't like matters, it showed too. "Why can't you stay?"

"Because I have a job to do.. It comes with the uniform.. and someday, a long time from now... You guys will understand..." Yamaguchi said quietly.

"We wanna stay with you!" Amira protested.

"I know sweetie. Its only been a week... Yet I will miss you guys... I will be back soon.." and with that she hugged each one of them gently as she brushed her hands through their fur. "The Klingons won't get me... I'll be back before you know it."

Lasky watched, he had already given his child up earlier and now he felt saddened that he had been separated from his child, that he shared with the woman across the room. He studied her in silence for a moment as he watched her four kits. Her youngest natural born children Nix and Tressa were away with their father on the orbital base over B Kayor along with all of their cats.

Lasky watched in silence as Torilla said goodbye and then she had the children sent over to where the other children were being looked after. Their pets generally went too.

Yamaguchi turned away but Lasky could see only for a moment, the silent tears streaming down her face from her dark eyes as she departed in silence.

He wanted to chase after her, to remind her that it'll be okay but he didn't because he didn't believe it himself. This time the Federation looked to be going to war and he didn't know if any of them would make it back. Such was the fog of war.

Yamaguchi paused before she turned back, she locked eyes with Lasky and she nodded at him

Lasky nodded back to her before he turned to Teval in silence. "You ready to get back?"

Teval didn't even want to think about what was going on, he just nodded and made his way back to the bridge rather quickly, his frustration already building. And the worst part, is he didn't have to just give up the children, they had to give up the cats as well, and none of them were happy about it, as Silversnow was constantly meowing rather loudly and in an irritated manner.

Lasky regarded Silversnow with a soft smile. "I hear you, kitty. I hope hadow is not clawing someone at the present time... like Shonax." he sighed softly. Siaxx meanwhile came over as she smiled warmly up at Lasky. "Hey." she indicated Kurt who was asleep in his father's arms. Lasky handed him over to her in silence.

Siaxx smiled as she gently accepted the infant from his father. "Hey little guy.." she smiled. "He's adorable..." as she looked back to Lasky. "He'll be safe with me.." the heavily pregnant Bolian added.

"Thank you Siaxx..."

"I know this sucks... But you'll be back soon enough. Does Torilla know about her son?" the small Bolian inquired

"She doesn't want to be involved otherwise she would have insisted that she was to be the one to raise him. She gave him to me... knowing that my line would continue."

"Honor her for her sacrifice, Tom. Honor Elizabeth too. Both women paid for this guy to live.." the Bolian explained as Lasky nodded. "I do," he responded simply. "Thanks for taking him Siaxx..."

"Not a worry. He's in good hands... all the human children are... my crew and will be looking after them," she responded before she turned to Seykai. "We miss anyone?" as she held the child who looked oversized against her small frame.

Seykai thought about it for a moment then replied. "I'm waiting on Tienn Iteela, Leadfoot and Moni Nasai, and Wukari."

Just then the doors opened and in came Lieutenant Jack Ash-Tor, his young son named Alex was in his arms as he came over to Siaxx. "Commander.." he greeted her before he passed his son to a female member of the Tranquility's crew that he come with Siaxx for the purposes of removing the children from the ship before they went into battle. Jack did not waste time with lengthy goodbyes, he dropped his son off and then departed in silence.

As the Lieutenant departed, in walked Master Warrant Officer Julian Davis with his two children. "Alright.. here we are... now you two be good.Your mom and I will be back soon.."

Both children were trying to be brave but they were fighting tears, they both hugged their father one at a time and then he gently shooed them into the large shuttle as a second member of the tranquility crew met them. "This way kids... it'll be okay.." she soothed both of the Davis children.

Master Warrant Davis turned and departed before he too could get upset or let his anger at this entire situation get to him. As the doors opened with him exiting, a marine female he didn't know came in, her two children in tow and the scene repeated itself.

Lasky nodded to Siaxx. "Thank you again Commander." and with that he turned and slowly departed as the door opened a third time and in walked Tienn Iteela, followed by a small group of Caitian kits, walking with two German Shepherd female dogs.

The two dogs looked a little lost and confused, they really got angry when Tienn turned and went to depart, she didn't get ten yards before one of the dogs began yowling loudly in her direction. This caused Tienn to stop and turn back, she came over to the dogs in question. Jaina was unsettled and her sibling who Tienn had named for her grandmother was upset as she whined loudly.

"I know girl... I know.." Tienn said quietly. "I can't take you with me into battle... I need to know that you six will be safe," she said softly. "You four have to look after these two... okay."

The four kits simply nodded their heads, they clearly didn't like this either but then who could honestly blame then.

Wukari and Leadfoot where the next two to show up, along with Cyrin's Sister Niva. Niva approached Seykai and Lakai saying," well since I'm getting kicked off too, I might as well help you two with all the kids you will be caring for."

Lakai nodded. "Thanks, yeah in addition to my own two, we are taking care of 25 children, 7 cats, and 4 dogs. We could really use the help."

Niva nodded, knowing that this was about to be a full-time job."

Ki'skye really didn't want to leave Leadfoot, it took him 5 minutes just to get her to let go of his tail. after he finally freed himself he left while Wukari gave her two infant children to Niva, tears were practically in her eyes as she gave them up, along with Pufftail and Brightspot, neither of which were very happy.

Other Roanoke crew members began to come in and drop their kids off, and after 20 minutes the shuttle was ready to go. Unfortunately, no one noticed Ki'skye sneaking out of the shuttle and back onto Roanoke.

Siaxx double checked all of the figures. "Alright, everyone is aboard.." before she nodded. "Go ahead and seal her up." she turned to Seykai. "Next stop, planetside. I'm taking Kurt Lasky home with me... I gave the Commander my word."

Seykai nodded then said to the Akurian shuttle pilot. "Alright we are good to go, you can take us out."

The pilot nodded and the shuttle separated from Roanoke, which moments later engaged its warp engines and sped off to Goranar. The pilot then guided the shuttle over to the planet, heading towards the spot where tranquility was landed.

Siaxx gently held the infant in her arms. "Seykai... You guys gonna be alright with these Caitian and other furry children?" she inquired.

Seykai looked around at all of the ones present. "Yeah, I should be fine, since I have Lakai's and Niva's help. It's going to be a full-time job though."

"Alright. Since Tranquility and her crew won't be going... If you need any extra people. let me know and I'll send you a few of my guys." Siaxx responded with a gentle smile before she turned to hand Kurt Lasky off to someone else. "Come on... Let's get moving.."
