Mission:
Mission 77: Made Glorious Summer
Location: Jake Yamaguchi's Temporary Quarters - Federation Base, B Kayor
Timeline: 0930Hrs - April 11th, 2392
If one could hear the mindset of Senior Pilot Officer Lasarra "Silverbolt" Yamaguchi, one could assume that she was scared out of her mind and many would not be far from the truth. She knew what she needed to go and deal with, also she needed to answer for her previous transgressions as she arrived at her destination. Her ship still had several hours before the Courageous got underway so she decided to see if this whole idea was a waste of effort.
Dahlia Soames had gone on duty earlier this morning, having shoved Lasarra out the door, telling her to go and get this sorted out once and for all. "You're unwilling to even give this man a chance, considering he only shares looks with the man who calls himself your dad from your home reality. I don't get you at all sometimes."
So now Lasarra was off to go hunt down the dragon in its lair as she found herself coming face to face with her greatest nightmare from her childhood, given form.
She reached her destination soon enough as she regarded the door which was marked. 'VISITING OFFICERS QUARTERS - RADM J YAMAGUCHI'
Lasarra sighed softly before she tapped the door chime.
Inside the quarters was Jake Yamaguchi who was wearing civilian clothing, he regarded the door as it beeped at him. "Mmm." he had just returned from dropping off the twins and the four Caitian children at daycare and now he was home because he had the morning off, he would head in and check to see what people needed for several hours this afternoon and this evening before picking up the children at about nineteen hundred hours. Since he was a Fleet Commander, he got to make his own hours.
He turned before he tapped the door release. "Hello." he greeted Lasarra. "Well now, you are the last person I expected to grace my presence." he paused. "Come in.."
Lasarra faced Jake with a great degree of trepidation. "Umm hello, sir." Before she stepped forward, entering his home which was full of signs that children and a lot of them lived here.
"Whats on your mind?" Jake inquired of her, his tone indicated that he was in no mood whatsoever for any games.
Lasarra had gotten here and now she had no idea of what she wanted to say so she went all in before her personal feelings got in the way. "I owe you an apology."
"Oh," Yamaguchi answered her, surprise written over his face. "You'll forgive me if I say that's the last thing I expected from you, considering.." Jake commented as he indicated the Gorilla in the room with his expression.
"Yes. But you are not the same Jake I knew." Rachael's twin responded.
"Yes. I know all about him. In fact, I dare say that I knew him better then you do." Jake answered in a rather dry tone of voice. "Considering your mother and I had that encounter during the pineapple incident last November on the Roanoke," calling it a simple encounter was putting what happened in extremely polite terms. It ended up being a sexual encounter between himself. Plataea and Nalla that left Jake with his mind in a state of near disintegration and Lieutenant Nalla Furban becoming pregnant which later led to her being reassigned elsewhere so she could have the time to sort out House Furban. Last Jake had heard she was managing with her respective issues but she was not talking to him about the child she was carrying. In truth, Jake didn't want to bother her with it for he knew she'd never considered him in the matter.
Lasarra nodded. "I remember it... I ended up with Lieutenant Nick Erikson." the young woman let out a sigh. "He's assigned to the Dreamcrusher."
Yamaguchi regarded her in silence while she spoke, he paused a moment. "Lasarra. What specifically do you wish to speak to me about?" he inquired, clearly wanting to cut to the chase of why she was standing before him.
"Well," Lasarra responded, suddenly uncertain. "I owe you an apology." she decided to try right at the beginning.
Jake regarded her while she spoke, he held his silence as he realized just how much this young woman looked like Rachael but this woman was not Rachael. "Why are you apologizing to me..?" he asked after a moment.
"Well. I never gave you a chance, unlike my two siblings." Lasarra explained.
"I know," Yamaguchi answered quietly. "Because of who I look like." as he looked at her, a hard look in his eyes.
"Yes." Lasarra paused. "He used to beat me.." she admitted.
"Yes," Jake answered softly. "I know exactly what he did to you and your sisters and your mother." he sighed softly.
Lasarra looked at him as Jake went over to the replicator. "Your mother shared that with me, she also shared Nalla's abuse of what her own mother did to her. Suffice to say. I know all about Jacob Lee Yamaguchi and what he was. I know everything Lasarra." he turned his head. "One orange punch." he turned his head as he regarded her.
"One root beer please."
"And an extra large root beer, cold with ice," he commented. There was a soft buzzing sound as the drinks appeared before Jake lifted the two drinks before he passed off the root beer to his daughter's twin.
"Lasarra. I confess." Jake started. "I do not understand you. You've made no bones about hating me since you met me. Hell.. You have been getting in my face since we met... What's changed?"
"Gabriel," Lasarra responded. "He said something about me holding myself as a prisoner inside my own mind."
"Gabe is good like that. He's more subtle then Elizabeth and more patient too." Jake answered, his gaze hardened as he regarded her, a dark glare in his eyes. "But you, young lady, have things you must answer for. One of them is what you did to Rachael and her husband... But I will let Rachael deal with that one, I will stay out of this.."
"I'm not sure of that's good or bad," Lasarra responded
"It's whatever you decide it is.. You sexually assaulted her husband. Making him think that you were Rachael. Whatever you seek in life, you'd best start finding your way quickly young lady or you'll become as vile as Jacob."
For Lasarra, the reaction was the same as if he had belted her across the face, she flinched in the face of his comment. "I uh.." she paused as she tried to start another sentence but she failed. Her brain stopped working as she realized the extent of her error. "I don't know what to say."
"There is nothing that you could say, at least to me anyway that could resolve this dispute between you and your twin."
"She wouldn't give me the time of day."
"Can you blame her?. Considering you lied to her husband, you manipulated him into thinking that you were Rachael." Jake explained. "However I'll remain out of that hot mess and leave you two to handle it," Jake responded. "However. My offer to you is still open. You can still become a part of my family should you desire it."
"I do," Lasarra responded, surprising even herself. "You are not Jacob. You are nothing like him.."
"That's a good thing, young lady," Jake responded in a light tone.
"Yes. He would have.." she paused a moment to let him finish his drink. "He would have raped me by now," Lasarra admitted.
"Jacob... Somehow.. That statement isn't as shocking as I expected it to be, considering what I remember him doing to Plataea and Ouros." Jake decided to share this secret with Lasarra, despite Ouros not requesting he keep it to himself.
"Wait.. what?" Lasarra paused before she had this horrible feeling creep up her spine as the cold, icy hand of death wrapped its hands around her heart.
"Oh yes. I know what he did to Ouros and you think you have it bad." Jake regarded her as he accepted her empty glass back from her. "You were only beaten by Jacob. Ouros was raped by him." Jake paused a moment. "Twice actually. Ouros shared those memories with Plataea in an effort to help her cope with what the monster who wears my face and name did to his own flesh and blood"
Lasarra was horrified, her eyes went wide. "My God. I didn't know.." she paused. "Oh god.." she whispered.
"Like I said. She shared with her mother and Plataea, shared with me." Jake explained in a gentle tone of voice. "Yet Ouros is willing to give me a chance, to get to know who I am. Am I the same as that Jake who violated his own child.." Jake turned away. "I am simply a product of my environment Lasarra. I am a decent man and I care about my children, wherever they come from.. I told Ouros this. If she needs anything from me then she can call me, any time of the day or night and I will move heaven and earth for her. Same for any of my other children."
"But. Why..?" Lasarra responded, still in shock from the revelation that he dropped on her a moment earlier.
"Because they are family. I look out for them and I protect them. I also never turn my back on them, not ever." Jake regarded her. "We squabble, we bicker and we feud at times. Just like any other family but when something comes our way, we set aside our issues and band together and deal with it."
Lasarra nodded, understanding what he was saying. "This new reality is very different from the one I left behind. I regret my mistakes and...I need to go and see Rachael."
"I will not keep you, Lasarra Yamaguchi," Jake responded. "You have been a part of my family since the moment I met you, even with what you said and did. But you must go and make amends to those you have wronged." Jake answered.
"I'll do what I can," Lasarra responded, in a soft tone.
"Your best is all you can do," Jake answered. "It's up to others whether or not they believe you. What matters, however, is making an effort that you can live with."
Lasarra nodded before she hugged Jake on impulse. Jake gently hugged her back. "It'll be okay. Lasarra.. Somehow."
"You are not him.. You are a good man and I'm sorry it has taken me so long to see it. Dad." and with that she let him go before the twin of Rachael Yamaguchi turned and departed in silence.
Jake watched her go, he had not been expecting what had just happened to ever take place or that Lasarra could call him father to his face. He smiled as he went back to what he was doing before she arrived.
