The Sounds of January - Part One

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard (47)
Timeline: 1300Hrs - May 20th, 2393

Lt Commander Miko Dauntless nodded to the two security guards who were regarding her, her wife and her two children with a look of interest and curiosity. "Welcome aboard Lt Commander. Lieutenant." the team lead commented to the two women in order.

Karen Dauntless smiled back at the two guards. "Hello boys." she drawled in her soft accent as she regarded them both with a rather lusty smile. The effect of this was never dull to watch for either Karen or Miko.

Miko Dauntless chuckled. "Karen?" the Asian female regarded her wide who was clearly enjoying herself at the expense of the two security troops before the Dauntless family.

"Mmm. Oh, right." The Orion paused as she regarded her wife. "So, permission to come aboard your mighty Starbase?" the Orion added, this comment was directed at the two security officers.

Miko knew her wife greatly enjoyed herself most of the time, she lived life to the fullest, considering what very nearly happened to both women a few years earlier on DS4. Several Xindi separatists planted a bomb which very nearly killed both Karen and Miko, the effects very badly wounded both women, Miko lost her eyes and Karen lost one eye and both arms, one up to the elbow and the second was up to the shoulder. The therapy was long and brutal but it was Miko being able to keep her pregnancy that gave both women the strength and hope they needed to pull through and endure what they had been through.

"Um... Yes, permission granted ladies." the Ensign commented, his tone sounded unsure and broken, considering he had an Orion woman hitting on him and his teammate.

Meridia looked up at her co-mother. "Is it always like this?" the ten-year-old child inquired with a soft sigh as Gabriel fussed with his bag which he carried over his shoulders.

"Come on Karen, we need to go get our quarters assignment and check in with our various departments," Miko said to her spouse. Karen blew a kiss to the four security guards. "Laters boys." and with that, the Orion female led the small family out of the massive hanger and into the nearby hallway.

The two children followed their mothers, all four walked in silence as Karen smiled. "You wanna go get our quarters assignment while I go check out sickbay?. I need them to poke and prod me anyway."

"Sure, sounds good. Don't have too much fun, I heard one of the Doctors is a Deltan." Miko commented, knowing this would only provoke her wife.

Karen grinned, as she seemed positively overjoyed with that statement. "Really?" she inquired. "Oh goodie," she answered before she stopped at a turbolift, she tapped the call button. "It's playtime." With that, she was gone moments later.

Dauntless chuckled softly, while she waited a moment before the tall human female pressed the call button on the same turbolift, a new car arrived a moment later and the three remaining members of the Dauntless family were on the way to the quartermaster's office.

Moments later, the doors opened before the three stepped out, they moved down the hall and through a large set of double doors marked as such. A young woman was seated at the desk as Miko entered, her children behind her.

Melody McKnight-Yamaguchi lifted her head from what she was looking at. "Hello Commander, what can I do for you?" the young female inquired of the Asian-looking female before her.

"I'm looking for a set of family quarters for myself, my spouse and three kids," Miko explained, an easy smile on her lips.

"Okay, let me see what I got for you," McKnight-Yamaguchi responded as she lifted a PADD, her fingers quickly called up the information she sought. "Okay," she commented as she handed the PADD to the other woman before her. "You're now billeted on level sixty-four, section forty-two." she handed the PADD over to the Asian-looking female before her. "Welcome aboard Commander."

"Thank you, Lieutenant," Miko answered. "Come on kids, let's go find our new home." and with that, she led her children into the turbolift, which led to their new destination.

The doors opened a moment later, the three stepped out and down the hall they went before they reached a set of doors which were as yet, unmarked. Dauntless tapped the door release, a message popped up, prompting her to use the command code which she did quickly, speaking to the computer in a gentle tone of voice.

The computer accepted her code, the doors opened as Miko turned. "Go select your rooms, kids."

Meridia and Gabriel moved into their new home while Miko smiled. "Why walk?, when you can run," she commented before the human female moved into her new home. The doors slid closed behind her with a soft hissing sound behind her.

Miko moved into the large set of quarters, she poked her head into the master bedroom, which she planned to have a small study inside this room so she could do paperwork when she noticed a small room off to the side of the main living space, which she could turn into a study. "Oh. Nice!" she commented softly to herself.

Miko went to check on her children, she found Gabriel lying on his new bed, his eyes were closed as he breathed softly in and out as he was clearly asleep. The lights were off and he was wearing only a pair of shorts so Miko smiled as she gently and carefully, tucked in her young son so he could get some sleep. Gabriel gently woke up. "Hi." as he addressed his co-mother.

"Hey sweetie," Miko said gently. "Come on, let's get you into bed." and moments later, Gabriel was asleep as Miko withdrew to let her son sleep. She went over to the next room before she found Meridia in the same state as her brother, she was asleep in bed, she had changed and gone to bed so Miko didn't bother her.

The tall female smiled as she withdrew into the master bedroom. the tall female grabbed her bag before she sat down on the bed. "Mmm.. comfy, I can see why the kids went to sleep," Dauntless said softly to herself.

Miko smiled as she laid back on the bed. She closed her eyes a moment later, the next thing she knew was that she felt someone over the top of her, she opened her eyes to find herself looking up at the pregnant Orion female who also just happened to be her wife. "Karen," she said quietly.

"Something the matter?" Karen regarded her mate who was now waking up.

"You surprised me... Wait, how long was I out?" Miko asked in a gentle tone.

"It's eighteen hundred hours." The Orion answered. "You and the kids have been out for hours."

"Oh crap. I've been out for close to five hours." Miko commented softly as she sat up. "Mmmmm. The bed is comfy."

"I'll bet." the Orion female sat down next to her mate before she gently guided Miko to a sitting position. "You didn't look comfy while you slept so you might be a tad stiff," Karen explained evenly. "I enrolled the kids in the ship's school and I got my medical issues sorted out, you just need to go check in and then do your physical. These Doctors and nurses are just perverted in how they like to poke and prod their patients." Karen then giggled softly.

Miko sighed. "You always think of sex."

"Of course I do. I'm pregnant. I'm horny, all the time." Karen answered as if that statement could explain everything. "Anyway, come on. dinners ready." as Miko pushed herself to her feet. "Mmm... right. Let's go wake the kids and eat." she paused. "Of I can let you have your way with me." the Orion grinned at her spouse.
