Reassignment Request: Balance Point

Posted on Sun Mar 8th, 2020 @ 11:06pm by Lieutenant General Steven Johnson & Rear Admiral Heather Yamaguchi-Johnson & Grand Admiral Julia Antilles-Yeager

Mission: Mission 72: T'Would Ring the Bells of Heaven
Location: Operations / Admirals Office - Starbase Lya Station Alpha
Timeline: 0830Hrs - April 6th, 2392

Corps General Steven Johnson smiled as he walked into the Starbase Operations Center. "Morning folks." he addressed the room, several personnel assigned here responded while he went over to the replicator to order himself a drink. "I need a drink.." he groaned as he drained a mouthful of the vile liquid that most called coffee except Johnson had a household of young children and they could keep him up most nights, especially when the younger children had nightmares, keeping him and his wife awake.

Lieutenant Michael Webster smiled. "Morning skipper." he addressed his boss as he went over to the General. "You're paperwork is being handled by your other two aides.."

"Okay." Johnson responded with a sigh. "I need a vacation."

"You okay sir?" Webster noted that Johnson looked tired and exhausted.

"Yeah.." he said as more of a sigh then an actual response. "Sammy kept me and Heather up most of the night.. Nightmares.."

Webster nodded his head. "Fair enough skipper. I don't have any of my own so... I can't really be of much help."

"Don't worry.. about it.. What's on my agenda?" Johnson moved into his office, followed by Webster who in addition to being his aide was also a very old friend of the family. He met Heather when she was commanding the USS Yankee Clipper several years earlier and she had kept him assigned to her as her aide, he had done an excellent job of keeping Heather sane and when she got command of the Seventh, he remained behind to look after her husband in the same job, turning down several job offers in the process to remain with these two.

"You have a subspace call from Fleet Admiral Antilles-Yeager. It came in only a few minutes ago and several inspection reports and the like. Mostly dry and dull stuff."

"Alright." Johnson responded while he sat down behind his desk. He tapped the display once. "Authorization Two Two Three Alpha Tango."
As the display activated and Julia Antilles-Yeager appeared on the screen. "Morning General... You look like crap."

"Thank you Julia. To what, pray you tell me, do I owe the pleasure of your presence this wonderfully fine morning?"

"Children keeping you up last night?" Julia inquired, a knowing smile on her face.

"Is it that obvious?" Johnson responded with a dry tone of voice. "I thought I was keeping it down."

"Well I share your pain. Katherine kept me up last night because of her own issues." Julia smiled warmly at him. "Anyway...I called because I wanted to let you know that your reassignment has been approved and you'll be heading to see your sister in law in the Beta Quadrant as you have been selected personaly." she explained before she raised her hand to forestall the inevitable protest. "Heather will be going with you along with the Seventh Fleet and several other fleets, all heading to Beta Quadrant to assist with various issues and concerns that are popping up."

Johnson nodded. "Alright.. so my successor assigned here is on his way?"

"She is, yes." Antilles-Yeager responded with a gentle nod of her head. "Division Admiral Kathryn Miller be there in a few hours so that'll let you and Heather sort things out on your end. Your deployment won't be ready for a few days so you don't need to rush over there right away... But I do know that April is expecting the two of you soonish."

"Alright. Well I'd best get going then. Thanks for letting me know Admiral."

"Your welcome." Julia responded before the screen went black. Johnson then knew who his next call would be to. "Mike, contact the Yankee Clipper... I need to talk to Heather, also mark it as personal for me will ya?"

"Yeah. I'm on it." Webster responded as Heather Yamaguchi-Johnson's face appeared on the screen before him. "Steven. Whats wrong?"

"Mmm..." Johnson sighed softly. "Julia just called. We're being reassigned to the Beta Quadrant."

Yamaguchi-Johnson felt the tension in her chest and body begin to depart as she could breathe again, at first she thought something had happened to one of the children as her husband contacting her out in the field like this was unusual. Yamaguchi-Johnson did know that the children they shared missed her presence at home and they tended to pester their father relentlessly when either one of them was gone for an extended period of time. "Okay... so... nothing is wrong with the children then?"

"No... Sammy kept me up all night because she misses you." Johnson sighed softly. "She had nightmares about you never coming home again." he added as he drained the last of the coffee from his mug. "Yeah."

"Oh.." Yamaguchi-Johnson paused. "Well the exercises wrap up later today and I'll be home tonight... I can take the kids off of your hands and help you pack." as she gave him a rather sinister smile. "Then you can inspect your new quarters with my undivided attention on this ship while I ferry you to your new home."

Johnson knew exactly what his wife was saying without saying it. "Heather, you are such a horndog."

"Of course. I've not seen my husband in way too long and I've missed his company." Yamaguchi-Johnson responded. "Anyway... I'd best get back to it. Work waits for nobody."

"Alright. I'll go inform my people and then go home and start packing. I will see you soon."

"I'll be there." Yamaguchi-Johnson gave her husband a rather saucy smile before she hung up on him. He rose to his feet. "Mike. I'm being reassigned to the Beta Quadrant."

"Yessir. Its... Its been an honor General." Webster responded in a quiet tone of voice

"The honor Mike.. was mine." Johnson responded before he shook hands with his old friend. "I'll request you when I get set up on the other side.. If you wish."

"Thank you General.. I'd like that." Webster responded, a smile on his face before he went to brief his people, while they were still his people.
