A Voice in the Wilderness - Part One

Mission: Mission 72: T'Would Ring the Bells of Heaven
Location: Starfleet Base - Deneva - KAPPA FORNACIS
Timeline: 1300Hrs - March 29th, 2392

Staff Warrant Officer Ouros Unal walked down the street, she was heading back to her dorm as she had finished her last class and she had graduated from the medical courses she had been required to take when someone who passed her, slid a PADD into her hands.

Ouros quickly slid the PADD out of sight as she walked on, she turn turned her head as if taking in the scenery as she spotted the same guy who had been training her for two blocks already.

She smiled as she turned her attention back to her destination while she decided to do something about her tail.

She quickly reached her destination which was a set of apartment blocks where visiting officers and personnel lived so it was frequently in use with people coming and going at all hours, day and night, she dropped in behind several dumpsters and waited.

As if he was a rookie, her tail went right past her as she leapt out at him, making her move. She grabbed him by his arm as she used her momentum to throw him into a wall, she then quickly and ruthlessly subdued him before she dragged him behind the dumpster where she had been sitting in wait.

She liberated a tricorder, a phaser and a small medkit, which she quickly destroyed the medication within before tossing it all into the dumpster.

"You vile-" was before she bitch slapped him. "Silence.." she said, the first word in over ten minutes. "You don't take unless I ask questions or give you instructions... If you violate these terms, your life will become forfeit. Do you understand?"

He nodded once.

"Very well. Why are you tailing me?" Ouros inquired.

"I was handed an assignment.. to tail you and find out where you lived." the man explained to her. "I was also assigned to leave a tracer on your door. However thats been destroyed when you toasted my cover."

"Cover... cover for what!"

"Cover to see if you were worthy of being in Starfleet Intelligence. I must admit... I am impressed." a third person spoke from behind them. Ouros kicked the captured prisoner over before she backed up several feet, drawing the phaser she had liberated in the process.

"You don't want to fire that here." The strange man spoke for the second time.

"I know... except I'm doing many strange things today.." Ouros responded as she did a quick check of her surroundings. "Easy Warrant Officer... its just the three of us... you can let my man up.. I handed him his orders... and you passed the test I had assigned for you."

"Test?" Ouros narrowed her eyes, there was no mistaking that she was angry. "What gives you the right to fuck with me for your own amusement... Do you like this shit... making others run through your maze?"

"No... But first.. Let me introduce myself... I am Captain Tom Carter, Starfleet Intelligence, Section Three... I command four special operations teams.."

"SPECOPS." Ouros responded in distaste. "I had a bellyful of that life before I ended up in this reality... so Thank you Colonel.. but no. No thanks... I'm going to carry on with my new life and neither you.. or anyone else will try to take it from me."

"Colonel?" Carter responded. "I am no Colonel my dear..."

"In my home reality.. I had a version of you too... You were the Exec of SPECWAR Team Three... Which was a group of four commando teams... Except you were ... well different but thats also unimportant."

Carter regarded her, he had not moved since he had shown up. "Well not if your bringing it up."

"What do you want... make it quick..?"

"Simple... I want you to join Starfleet Intelligence. Your scores are at the top of the charts in almost every area.. well except one that is.."

"Whats that?" Ouros narrowed her eyes. "You can get up now.." she said to the man she had captured.

"Thank you." Carter responded. "You still met all of the requirements for being in Starfleet Intelligence and you would make an excellent member for Special Forces as well... I suspect they too will come calling with offers for you." Carter responded. "However.. I don't want you for fieldwork... Is there somewhere where we can talk... thats not here?"

"Yes.. We can go to my place.." Ouros responded. "Down the end of the road... turn left.."

"I know where you live Ms Unal."

"Yamaguchi.." Ouros responded quietly. "Thats Ouros Yamaguchi... My father here is actually a good man in this reality... He gave me and my siblings the option of taking his name... I intend to do just that."

Carter smiled despite his mood, he helped his man up. "Lets go then."
