A Voice in the Wilderness - Part Two

Posted on Sat Mar 7th, 2020 @ 6:15am by Lieutenant Commander Ouros Yamaguchi

Mission: Mission 72: T'Would Ring the Bells of Heaven
Location: Starfleet Base - Deneva - KAPPA FORNACIS
Timeline: 1300Hrs - March 29th, 2392

A few minutes after the three of them had walked out from the garbage collection area, they reached Ouros Yamaguchi's home, she tapped in her code before she opened the door, she then sidestepped to one side as the man she had downed stopped dead as she regarded him with a measure of suspicion. "Tread carefully. You may borrow my bathroom to clean up and replicate yourself new clothing should you wish."

"Thank you Warrant." as the man went into the kitchen while slipping off his boots, he went into the main area as he quickly replicated himself something in his size before he withdrew into the main bathroom which was across the sitting area and next to the bedroom.

Carter meanwhile had not moved from where he had stopped a couple of minutes earlier. "Is it safe.?"

Ouros went over to the table, she opened her own tricorder as she tapped the display twice. "It is now..." she turned to face him, expecting to have a phaser on her but he stood with his hands behind his back. "Like I said... I came with an offer... Your skills in communications were off the scale... So my offer is this... I'm going to send you to Roanoke Squadron as an Intel field analyst. You have experience regarding the Klingon Empire that for us will be highly useful as you fought them before."

Ouros regarded Carter. "I see... " she responded in a flat tone of voice. "I spent my entire life fighting Klingons that hating them is almost second nature to me... So.. You want me to come work for you rather then the girls in sickbay on the USS Roanoke, were it not for Lieutenant Fordring.. I wouldn't even be here.."

"Yes. thats true but sooner or later we would have met eventually." Carter responded in a dry tone. "Considering whats in your file.."

"I wasn't aware my file was recommended reading.." Yamaguchi answered in a dry tone of voice as the door opened and out came the second guy, wearing his new clothing.

Yamaguchi regarded Carter as he explained. "My job offer is this... You would work for Starfleet Intelligence rather then starfleet medical as both an analyst and a field agent. Doing whatever assignments need to be done."

"I see..." Yamaguchi responded quietly. "Why me?"

"Your skill set, your personality profile and your knowledge base all tells us that you are perfect for the task we'd be offering you." he paused. "You went through OCS while on assignment here.."

Yamaguchi regarded Carter. "I did... I'm still waiting to hear if I passed."

In response Carter slid a PADD across to her. "You did." he explained. "All you need to do is sign and you become a Lieutenant Junior Grade with Starfleet Intelligence."

Yamaguchi eye'ed him as she began to read the paperwork, and the fine print, she took her time while she read it and then once finished she re-read it. "Alright... I accept." she said quietly a few minutes later as Carter was seated across from her, he regarded her patiently as he knew she would make an informed decision when she was ready and not any sooner.

"Very well." Carter responded. "How soon can you be packed?"

"An hour or less.. I will need to turn over these quarters."

Yamaguchi regarded Carter as he produced a PADD which eh then handed to her. "The details of your assignment. There is a ship leaving from here in two hours, be on it... it'll take you and several hundred medical personnel to a system called B Kayor, they will be assisting with a medical problem.. you will be assisting with the Klingon problem."

Yamaguchi nodded her head. "I see.. Then I have best get moving then."

Carter nodded. "You turn over your quarters in an hour... I made the arrangements for you."

"You expected me to say yes." Yamaguchi responded. It was not a question.

"I did." Carter responded. "You will fit in well with the intelligence community."

"Yes. I suspect that I will... Well then Commander. I'd best go pack and conclude my business here on Deneva."

"Yes. I'll show myself and my comrade here out." and with that Carter rose to his feet as the two men filed out the door, leaving Ouros Yamaguchi to go pack her things because she had a lot to do and little time to do it.
