Two Hours

Mission: Mission 73: Near Misses and Close Encounters
Location: Captain's Quarters - USS Courageous
Timeline: 1500Hrs - Mar 19th 2392

Captain Torilla Yamaguchi was standing before the large wall monitor that was mounted on the wall that faced into the heart of her ship, she could look around as any of a million memories with Torilla herself, her husband and her eldest three children from infanthood to adulthood.

Being home, back in this place was at times overwhelming for her as Torilla gently ran the middle finger of her right hand gently across the top of the wall monitor as a gentle smile graced her lips.

The doorbell beeped at her. "Its Open!" as she turned to greet her youngest child who was an adult, and her granddaughter.

"Rachael.. I was just thinking of you." Torilla greeted her daughter with a hug before she greeted her granddaughter.

"Mom... Saki's in trouble again."

Torilla regarded Saki. "Again... What is it this time?"

"Well I was... Mmm not polite...." Saki responded.

Torilla regarded her grandchild with a measured look. "I'll bet..." she responded. "Saki... You cannot keep doing this..." she let out a sigh before she went over to the replicator and got three glasses of orange punch, one for each of them.

"So... Saki.. Why don't you sit down and tell your grandmother what you did wrong.." Torilla indicated a chair with her head as she handed one drink off to Rachael who proceeded to sit down nearby. The twenty two year old knew exactly what was coming as she had been on the receiving end of this more then a few times herself when she was Saki's age. Torilla never needed to raise her voice to any of her children as she opted to do things differently.

Saki took her drink and she did as she was asked, she sat down before her grandmother in the single person sofa as she got comfortable. Torilla Yamaguchi sat down before her with her two dogs nearby. Grey Wind was lying down on the floor near Torilla's feet and Nymeria was lying down on the sofa next to Torilla.

Rachael smiled as she held her silence.

Torilla regarded Saki. "Now... You know why you are in trouble.. again." the older woman spoke quietly. "Saki. I do not feel like yelling or screaming as I feel it doesn't work.. I raised three children to become adults and they are off having their own children.. and I have... Tressa and Nix who are away with your grandfather along with Noble Team." the term 'noble team' was an inside joke for her small army of cats that were all related with Silversides as their mother who was off with them.

Saki knew who Nix and Tressa both were as she had a hand in looking after them with Phoenix when they were born back on the planet. "I remember them." Saki responded. "Yes.. I know why I am in trouble... I said... something I wasn't supposed to."

Torilla shifted her attention from Saki to her mother and then slowly back to Saki a second time. "What was that word?" Torilla inquired.

"I asked Phoenix... Who was the... kitty.." Saki responded. "It was regarding a Catian male.... I think." the child paused, as she mispronounced the name, she missed the first I so she said it as 'Cat'yan' rather then 'Kay'shen'.

"Oh." Torilla paused. "Yes Saki. You have been told about that... I know you've been told.. Your mom has yelled at you about it. So have others."

"Yes... I just slipped out... I meant no harm by it." Saki responded.

"Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what your intentions were. Phoenix taught you that racial insult and.. It IS an insult, same as calling me a Teeper." Torilla explained, Saki snorted in amusement but she stopped herself from saying anything. "Same as Siaxx, its inky for her." she paused. "You might think its amusing but how do you feel about people hating you because of your skin color or that you have abilities and skills that they lack.?" The larger woman explained.

"That makes no sense.."

"Hate and intolerance knows no limits, it also knows no boundaries or where to stop... Either can strike at anyone for any reason.... Do you hate Caitians?.. or anyone with fur?"

"No.. Of course not... I mean I miss my friends... I've not seen them in way too long either.." Saki explained as Rachael made a mental note to cure that problem as soon as possible.

"Well.. Just keep in mind that what might sound innocent to you... Might have lasting effects on others... You need to learn what you say can have serious effects on-"

Suddenly the doorbell beeped, halting Torilla mid sentence.

Rachael looked confused. "Its Siaxx... I wonder what she wants.."

Torilla turned her head. "I suspect we're about to find out... " she paused. "Its Open!"

The door opened and in came the little Bolian who was angrier then Rachael could ever recall having seen her. "You." she regarded Saki who shrank back in fear. "You get away with so much fucking shit..." and with that, Siaxx hauled off and belted Saki across the face with her fist.

Torilla was suprised with the level of ferocity in Siaxx's actions. Rachael reacted instead by shoving Siaxx away from her daughter with her abilities. "You ever 'EVER' Harm my daughter again and I promise... You will regret it!."

"That little bitch gets away with MURDER Yamaguchi!" Siaxx roared as Torilla interrupted. "Siaxx... Get out... Before I throw you out."

The angry Bolian turned and stomped off, out the door and down the hall as Saki burst into tears. Torilla gently gathered her granddaughter into her arms as she picked her up. Leaving Rachael to steam and smoulder in rage. "Come on... Lets ... Go eat a meal in the Lounge.." Torilla commented. "Siaxx won't be staying on this ship... She knows I might call security and have her thrown overboard."

"That.. H-How dare she!" Rachael's self control melted down with violent force. "Hit my daughter!"

"Yep..." Torilla agreed. "Its also been done Rachael, no need to lose it over something you can't control... Siaxx is just as pissed as you but for different reasons and losing it in front of your daughter isn't a good idea."

Rachael had steam coming out of her ears, her eyes blazed molten fire as she was well and truly angry, she stood motionless as she breathed in and then out as she fought to calm herself. "You're right.." she paused as she left out a loud growl. "The fucking nerve of that woman.."

"Yep.." Torilla agreed in a dry tone of voice. "Stop worrying about it. you can file a complaint about it at the same time I do..." the eldest Yamaguchi responded. "Which will be shortly... after. we eat.."

"Sounds good... Lead on mom. Come on Saki..." Rachael responded.
