Mission:
Mission 72: T'Would Ring the Bells of Heaven
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 12
Timeline: 0930Hrs - March 17th, 2392
Commander Duval Mia regarded the information scrolling onto the display before her, the Bajoran woman was concerned with the damage she was seeing as the Excelsior class ship had simply vanished in a truly massive fireball which had caused major damage to sections of the base and many of the ships nearby. "We're getting a request for assistance from the Starbase skipper." came the voice of Lt Commander Yushin.
"Well this is one way to start the day." the tall Bajoran woman commented quietly. "Avalon is hailing us."
Duval raised an eyebrow, it wasn't her place to proceed. "Skipper?"
"Answer them." Teyo commanded.
Duval Mia turned as she went to work, the face of Fleet Admiral April Yamaguchi came on the screen a moment later and the human woman looked very concerned. "Captain Kemoke. I know you are due to get underway shortly but I'd like you to put off those plans, stick around and help us out with this... Would you mind terribly?"
Teyo looked a little bit puzzled. "I didn't even think we had the choice, but my damage control teams are already getting ready to deal with it."
"Well actually you did.. Your request was filed and your request was approved," Yamaguchi responded. "Why... did you think I'd be overly demanding of you, your ship and your crew for every waking moment for the rest of time?" the tall woman inquired with a knowing smile. "I try to operate a little better then that as I believe that happy people are well-motivated people."
Teyo didn't even know what to say at this point, so he simply said. "Well, i'll get my medics ready as well too. you can start sending wounded to my ship."
"Very well. Thank you, Captain. We'll start sending wounded to you and the Avalon." and with that the screen went black
Duval Mia blinked. "Was that as insane for you as it was for me?" the tall Bajoran inquired softly.
The counselor rose to his feet. "I'll go help the medics skipper. You don't need me here... I can be more useful below."
Duval Mia meanwhile turned her head. "Keep a sharp eyes for that debres helm." she turned. "Ms Stark... when we get close enough.. start gathering debres... I want to start an investigation into matters."
Iceclaw was the one who'm said what others were thinking. "So, you think there may be more to this than a simple accident."
"Perhaps Iceclaw.." Duval responded softly. "Maybe I'm just looking too deeply into things.. but .. Humor me." she responded softly. "Also.. Whats the status on the starbase and everyone else present?" she inquired.
Vukoan whom sat at the operations table responded. "The Starbase has taken some damage in the area's nearest to the explosion. Multiple ships have been severely damaged by the blast, mainly the smaller ships."
Duval Mia turned to face Vukoan. "The Avalon is responding to the calls of the damaged smaller ships."
Just then a voice came over the com system. "Ahem... this is sickbay to all personnel, anyone with medical knowledge is needed in sickbay, we're getting swamped in casualties. If you can be spared.. we need you. Out."
Duval was no medic, she had only the usual medical courses that everyone else did, she came up the ranks as a tactical officer and not as a medic. "Dammit.."
Meanwhile on the Starbase. Fleet Admiral April Yamaguchi had taken a seat at the large holotable positioned at the center of Operations as she watched the situation unfold. She had four major Starships at her beck and call. The USS Alaska, the USS Avalon, the USS Relentless and the USS Pillar of Autumn.
"Hail the USS Alaska for me please Miranda," April commented before she tapped the display before her. When Captain Teyo's face appeared. "Captain.. My guys are telling me that everyone in the affected areas of the base are all evacuated and accounted for... can you confirm that?" she inquired of him with a smile.
Teyo shook his head. "Not all of it, there is a fair bit of sensor interference from the explosion."
"The thermal surge is vapourizing the armor in that area and its also disintegrating the area of the base. Nothing in the area will stop it asides from the cold of space and thats taking awhile." Peterson explained.
Ward turned. "Sir, if I don't jetterson that area now. I'm going to lose a third of the base."
Yamaguchi paused. "Is everyone out?"
"I have my guys checking their people now." Peterson responded. "I need another minute."
"We don't have it." Ward responded.
"I am not writing off several hundred of my guys so you can prevent damage to the base... the damage can be repaired, my guys are Not expendable." Patterson glared darkly at Ward.
April turned back to her display as she looked at Teyo who was still on the screen. "Can you move in and see if we missed anyone?" she inquired. "Before these two kill each other."
Teyo turned to Rokiro, and she replied. "I'm trying the best i can. I can't guarantee that the sensors are completely accurate But I'll send the information to starbase operations."
Miranda Ward receved the information that was sent to them from the Alaska. "Okay... everyone's out... venting the area."
Peterson nodded before he paused a moment, then he tapped the display. "blowing that section out into space." and on the wall monitor, the Operations crew watched as the section of the base that been badly damaged separate from the base and begin to drift away as the thermal energy continued to eat away at it.
Duval Mia turned. "Well there goes that chunk of real estate." as they watched the section of the base that was ejected tear itself apart and disintegrate under the extreme heat which was being bled away into space but not fast enough. "At least we got everyone out." the Bajoran sighed softly. "We've got orders to form up with the Avalon to head for B Kayor."
Teyo nodded his head "Engage."
With that the Alaska formed up with the Avalon and the two ships departed the scene, leaving the starfleet forces here to carry on with the clean up of the explosion.
