"They wanted to know about my mother," Nalla answered simply.
Fordring nodded. "I suspect they will be back for you later with more questions." she explained. "Do you want me to tell them that you are busy?" she inquired.
Fordring went back to the office as she took a seat behind the desk that was honestly too small for her on a chair that was about right. But then she shared an office with a woman who was half her size and mass. A woman who was small enough to be her youngest child.
"I hope whatever they wanted you for Nalla... it isn't something bad.." Fordring commented softly.
"They wished to know about my birth mother's finances. Something I know nothing about," Nalla answered without thought.
Fordring nodded her head slowly. "Alright... Well you can't give them what you don't have.." she added. "Oh I almost forgot .. I heard Captain Yamaguchi was asking about you."
"Affirmative to the first, and the latter I shall make time for." Nalla was practically smiling to the thought of seeing Torilla again.
Fordring smiled. "Alright." she responded. "I can handle sickbay for the rest of today if.. you want to get out of here and head over to the Courageous." the massive woman explained.
"Thank you." Nalla nodded appreciatively before she departed sickbay in silence, leaving Fordring in command.
Meanwhile the two investigators were chatting among themselves. "Lieutenant Commander Fordring doesn't know anything." the second investigator said quietly. "She's a dead end..."
"Right.." the leader spoke. "Yeah I was getting that hint too... okay tell the rest of our guys to spread out and start turning over rocks. Interview as many as possible."
"Lets start with Captain Teval, then Commander Lasky."
"I will handle Zara Tane myself... apparently she has a reputation for drunk and disorderly."
"No.." The leader responded. "We'll need to cover all of our bases with her... Lets go deal with her first.."
With that the two men set off in search of her, finding her a short time later. "Commodore Zara Tane?" the leader inquired. "We'd like to ask you a few questions.. for the record.. If.. you do not mind."
Zara frowned, "I mind, but seems I have little choice. What is it you need to know?"
The two men shared a look. "Well. we're looking into a matter concerning House Furban." he explained. "Since the Governor seceded from the Confederation of Betazed.. We have been looking into various allegations regarding corruption and the like ... I understand that Matron Furban caused some issues on your ship...?"
"She attacked her daughter. Bat shit crazy, I'd say," Zara said with a frown. "Nalla was sedated by Doctor Olmos, to keep the kid from overloading."
"Yes. That too... is being looked into." the investigator responded quietly. "But that's not for me to decide." he added. "Tell me about your past experiences in dealing with Matron Furban please?"
"She's like most politicians. Expects to be pampered," Zara shrugged. "Bit of an idiot with the furry populations of the Federation. My interactions with her are very limited because her ego gives me headaches."
Wheeler Stinson smiled. "Well she was a house head... But our investigation is proceeding at pace.." he commented. "Can you share anything else with me that might help us along?"
"I know rumors and true or false, Doctor Nalla Furban does not speak much of them. Her foster parent and legal Power of Attorney, Doctor Olmos, is the one that told me Nalla lost her sight in a fit of her birth mother's rage." Zara gave a subtle shrug.
Stinson wrote that down along with the other details. "I can understand why Ms Furban would not wish to share these details." he paused. "Can you think of anything else that may be helpful to our investigation..?" Stinson inquired.
"No." Zara did not care to relive all those memories Torilla shared with her. "She has a complicated relationship with the Yamaguchis - polywater outbreak. But Doctor Furban downloaded many memories into Torilla Yamaguchi and her husband."
Stinson had heard a great many thing about polywater outbreaks as he winced. "That sounds painful." he responded with a good natured smile. "Nevertheless... I think that's everything I need from you... Thank you for your time Commodore Tane."
"I do hope you get her," Tane said in parting. "...because I can't control my people, if you don't. The medical staff most importantly. They all know about Nalla's abuse, you see."
Stinson turned back to face Tane. "You believe the situation is that serious?" he inquired after a moment. "In any event. I believe we have enough information now to present a solid case. Thank you Commodore. You have been most helpful."
