Mission: Mission 65: And Death Rained Down
Location: Media Offices - USS Dreamcrusher
Timeline: 1000Hrs - February 19th, 2392

Jeffery Daniels was sitting behind his desk as he was putting the finishing touches on his most recent set of interviews. When the doorbell beeped at him, one of his aides who was on loan from the operations department on this ship got the door and was surprised to see a Klingon before him, wearing civilian clothing.

Daniels finished the work he was doing and then he quickly uploaded it into a message for sending to his editor, he finished doing that before sending off the block of data, figuratively speaking before he went to greet his visitor. "Fe'kar." Daniels addressed the Klingon by name. "We've got everything set up for you."

The older Klingon man took a seat, replying," You will have to forgive me if I am unfamiliar with your protocol, never dealt with reporters before."

"I don't have a set protocol." Daniels responded. "I'm just going to sit you down and ask a pile of questions... I also want you to be comfortable while I'm asking... I don't want you feeling like I'm going to interrogate you." he explained. "Do you want anything to eat.. drink before we get started?"

Fe'kar shook his head. "No I'm not hungry. I'd rather get this going if you don't mind."

"Very well. Right this way." as Daniels led the Klingon male into a recording studio, he had spent half the morning checking his equipment and gear, everything worked. Daniels indicated the other chair. "Have a seat and we can get this show on the road." he paused. "I am Jeffery Daniels Interviewing a Klingon named Fe'kar, he is someone who can shed a few lights on the recent unrest in the Klingon Empire." he turned to Fe'kar. "Mister Fe'kar, welcome to the show."

Fe'kar sat down in the chair and waited for Daniel's question.

Daniels tapped the display near him once. "Alright. I'm to record what we talk about.. So I can get your story out." he then smiled. "Alright. we're on..." he commented. "Alright.. So.. can you tell me a little abut yourself?"

"I am Fe'kar. I was once a member of a small house that was conquered by a larger house. Most of my family was killed in that Attack, and I was forced to flee. Throughout much of my life I did all kinds of jobs in the empire, from Farmer to industrial worker to even serving in the military. I have never stayed in one place for too long. Throughout much of my life I am what you would say, a wanderer, a drifter. And not being a member of the warrior caste, I have faced discrimination throughout much of my life, and I have seen both the best, and the worst that klingon society has to offer."

"Lets go back to that comment you made about the warrior caste. I confess I don't know much about them.... Can you tell me a bit more about them?"

"They are the ones the federation is the most familiar with." Fe'kar answered. "KDF members and politicians and just about anyone with any political power is a warrior caste member. Federation almost never interact with anyone but the Warrior caste."

"That explains so much about the Klingons... Are there any other castes that exist?" Daniels inquired.

"Officially, no," Fe'kar answered, but by technicality, yes." Klingon society is basically separated by the warriors and everyone whom inst a warrior. Non warriors are not separated into individual castes themselves, basically all non warriors are treated the same. They have no political power and are subservient to the warriors. But then there are two generally unacknowledged groups. The conquered species whom put up a fight when conquered, and those that didn't. The ones that put up a fight are generally ranked below all Klingons, second class citizens basically, but they still have more rights than those whom didn't. Those that didn't fight when conquered, or whom where considered to have surrendered too easily, are treated as little more than animals or slaves."

"I assume the Ferasians are among the second group?" Daniels inquired. "That actually does explain a few things.." he paused. "So.. what in your opinion is causing the unrest in the empire?"

Fe'kar answered honestly," Several factors, but a big one is, the workers and non warrior Klingon's, such as myself, we are tired of being treated as second class citizens. Plus as the empire has continued to expand and conquer more species, sooner or later an imperial style system would collapse under its own weight. Ever since 80 years ago, Klingon's have made up less than 50% of all the sentient beings in the empire. With so many beings treated like dirt throughout the empire, it was sooner or later that the system would begin to fail."

"So... like Ancient Rome then... it was doomed from the start.." Daniels responded. "Considering that most in the Federation didn't think there was anything other then a warrior caste... We had always assumed that the entire culture of the Empire was a monument to the art of war." he sighed. "This is fascinating information... I'm sure the people of the Federation will agree with me. Please go on with what you were saying...?" he inquired.

The rest of the interview proceeded smoothly as Daniels was able to gently elicit details out of Fe'kar regarding the Klingon empire, he had a ton of information he needed to sort out and combine into an expose tell it all story that he would shoot off to his editor over the next several hours. As he worked, Daniels for hios part found he was eager to see this story break over the new nets.
