Personal History | Jeff Daniels was born on February 16th, 2353. The oldest of 4 children. Jeff Daniels grew up under the iron rule of his parents. Demanding near perfection from their eldest child. Justin and Stacey Montgomery pushed her hard in everything he did. However they were hardest on him with anything academic. Jeff as he preferred to be called met their expectations well. It was obvious from the start that he was bright and industrious, as was his twin brother Erik. He was valedictorian of her class at Taylor Allderdice High School, with her choice to go to many colleges. He decided to attend Penn State University and major in Journalism with a double minor in Art History and Classics and Mediterranean Studies. While his parents didn’t approve of his choice of majors (or minors). They were proud of the fact that he graduated from Penn State with honors. After he graduated he didn’t quite know what to do with himself so he moved back home and started working for a small magazine doing columns and every now and then going out to do field research. Having paid little attention to politics at the time. He hadn’t realized how close the Federation was to war with the Dominion. Once he heard about the destruction of the USS Odyssey. Jeff moved to San Francisco, closer to Starfleet and the story of a lifetime. Figuring no news agency would hire him, Jeff decided to go freelance, selling his works to the highest bidder. Jeff found that he was willing to go places many hardened field reporters wouldn’t dare step foot. Though to his annoyance Starfleet would rarely allow him to accompany their people into the field but on the rare times he was allowed he was always stunned and suprised by the violence and hate that surrounded him. He was rather naive and this showed in his early editorials which he rapidly cleaned up before sending off. Jeff emerged as an expert on the Cardassians and to a lesser degree, the Breen and the Dominion. By the end of the war he had been to the Kalandra sector, Betazed, Benzar and Cardassia. The one that shook him the most was Cardassia, never before had he seen such utter devastation. After the war, he returned to Earth, again returning to his roots and working for a magazine. But he grew bored with it and longed to be out somewhere…anywhere but sitting behind a desk. After six years he could take it no more and returned to the field. Jeff went back to Cardassia, to follow up after the war and write about the reconstruction of its population. From there he went to Betazed to do the same. He spent 2 years on both Cardassia and Betazed often times helping those who were trying to rebuild their shattered lives. By living in the thick of it he found she got a much better understanding and was able to put more emotion and humanity into his stories. Jeff recently got the opportunity of a lifetime, to live on a Starfleet vessel for a year. Interact with the crew and write a story on his experiences. Starfleet had hoped that this would boost the Federation’s reputation by showing it in a more ‘human’ light. Jeff jumped at the opportunity, and was told he would be placed on the USS Dreamcrusher. He knew that this would either make his career, or destroy it. When he heard about the hanger deck fire on the USS Roanoke, he decided to wait for the press release rather then go poking around and making a nuisance of himself, he also decided he would assist the ships and their crews by trying to get to know them rather then be an ass about it. This earned him a great deal of respect from the Starfleet personel and it showed in his work as he was able to get a lot more infomation for his work a lot easier and sometimes, he got acess to the really good stuff. The story that Jeff did in mid-2392 abouit Czerka Corpoation and the exposase he wrote about the corruption of that company, made hjim something of a household name and by mid-2393 he was able to do whatever he wished, he decided to follow his former crewmates fro the Dreamcrusher over to Starbase Vanguard, where he remains as the Starbase reporter. |
