What Once Was Lost

Posted on Fri Mar 6th, 2020 @ 4:01pm by Grand Admiral T'Sara McKnight & Major Sir Bruce "Scorch" Fraser, 15th Baron Fraser of North Cape & Division Admiral Celeste Yamaguchi-Hobbs

Mission: Mission 64: Mortal's Chiefest Enemy
Location: AQ-2834-474-Ab also known as Dylans World
Timeline: 1800Hrs - February 14th, 2392

Scorch knew that their position was vulnerable, most of their wounded however had already been removed to the med center that Elizabeth Yamaguchi and her small troop of medical officers had set up, she had also proven to be very useful as not once but twice, she herself had been attacked by Klingons and twice she had killed them both.

Scorch came back into the command center as Derlin turned. "Ninety percent of the material is evacuated." he commented. "Your wounded and all of my personal asides from me and Falhon have already departed.

"Understood." there was a loud explosion as the ground in and around the base shook. "What was that?"

"Photon torpedo from a Bird of Prey." came the response as two more Birds of prey suddenly decloaked before they opened fire with rapid bursts of disruptor fire, which most of it missed and hit the ground but several bursts did strike the base and its damaged armor plating.

Scorch turned to Derlin. "How much longer?" he inquired but before Derlin could respond, the com call Scorch dreaded suddenly came in. "Klingon Forces have entered the base. Klingon forces have entered the ba......" as the message dissolved into static.

Scorch sighed. "Let's get this done.." and with that, he opened his tricorder in an effort to locate the Klingons. "Hallway Seven Bravo," he added. "Let's go!"

Scorch moved off down the hallway as he slipped his tricorder away as he drew his sidearm and a grenade off of his belt. "Time to die." and with that, he primed the grenade then he tossed it, it bounced once before landing among the advancing Klingons before it exploded, shattering and showering the Klingons with shards, shredding their bodies.

Scorch and the troops with him drove the Klingons back as phaser and disruptor rifles were discarded in favor of blades. "Take them!." Scorch called as he threw a knife, it embedded itself into a Klingon skull, the man fell dead to the deck.

Meanwhile, Derlin smiled. "Alright, that's it... All cargo has been evacuated." as he slapped the compad with his left hand. "Scorch, get your guys back here... We're finished."

"Understood.. on the way... Blue Team. Lets go!"

Elizabeth Yamaguchi entered the base Operation center with the last of her medics. "The Klingons have overrun the lower levels... Whatever you are gonna do. you best do it quick." as she turned and blasted a Klingon who had chased after her, the man fell to the deck, dead with a chest wound that smoked gently.

Elizabeth sighed as she watched the mast of the Marines come through the door. "Computer Isolate the Operations center. Authorization Ekk!" as Derlin took a disruptor round in the chest. "I can't... activate... the self destruct..." he dropped to his knees as Elizabeth went over to him. "Easy El Tee.. I have you."

Derlin felt the large woman move him onto his back as the sounds of battle seemed to almost fade away, she pulled her kit off of her back as she went to work. "Can you.." he gasped as he simply lay on the floor, feeling wetness spread from where the round had not only stopped with him but had lanced through him.

"I can't treat this wound here..." Yamaguchi gently took his hand in hers. "Its okay though,.. I'll get you up to-"

"Nooo.." Derlin whispered. "I'm dying. I know it and so do you..."

"I can't just leave you here..." Yamaguchi responded. "You deserve better."

"We all do... love... but we must make so with what we have.." he paused. "Help me up."

"It'll kill you for sure.."

"Elizabeth..." Derlin smiled softly at the lovely-looking woman before him. "Look at me... you think I'll make it to the Dreamcrusher like this... I'll bleed out first before you guys can help me... I have another option..." he paused before adding. "Computer.. deploy self destruct package .... Omega.." Derlin ordered, a hatch in the floor opened as a large ordinance package appeared nearby.

Elizabeth knew exactly what it was, the larger then average woman went over to it, she then picked up the remove detonator before she brought it back to Derlin, before she gently grasped his hands and without a word she slid it into his hands. "Good... now go..." as he slid her his tags, she looked down at them as she quickly understood what he wished of her.

"Scorch, we need to leave." came the voice of Lieutenant Tom Winters.

"Scorch to Dreamcrusher, lock in on the last remaining Federation personnel."

"One of you is critically wounded, what's his status?"

Yamaguchi knelt next to him. "He's not staying to die Dreamcrusher, he's staying to let us escape.." she commented, as she nodded to him.

There was a momentary pause. "Understood."

Derlin regarded Elizabeth. "I wish I had.. the chance.. to get to know... you better. but... go... Now!"

Scorch nodded. "Energize." and with that the last of the Federation personnel were beamed away, leaving only the Klingons to advance into a now empty facility.

Derlin smiled softly. "For my friends.... my brothers... and for ... Elizabeth Yamaguchi." and with that he pulled the trigger, suddenly the world went white around him as the ordinance package did as intended and detonated a fifty megaton nuclear warhead.

Meanwhile up on the Dreamcrusher, several dozen marines were all wounded as was several navy personnel, three of the marines had died and several more were somewhere between life and death due to wounds sustained.

On the bridge. Commander Daniel McKnight regarded the last of the Klingons as they withdrew, the orbital base had been thoroughly trashed and now the time had come. "Prepare to glass the planet."

"Sir... No." Yamaguchi responded before a bright white flash drew their attention back to the planet surface. "What was that?"

Rojas responded. "Sir that was the armory.."

"Did we get everyone out?"

'We did sir."

"Alright... Glass the colony instead. We leave nothing for the Klingons to find."

Rojas nodded as she opened fire on the settlement with phasers on maximum, a short time later the ground was molten hot and the settlement ran red with molten fire before Dreamcrusher ceased firing.
