Meeting More of My Kin - Part Two

Mission: Mission 63: Second Nature
Location: Planet Surface - B Kayor
Timeline: 1300Hrs - February 7th, 2392

Commander Celeste Yamaguchi could be found sitting on a crate, gently comforting three Ferasian kits who were alone, two of them had their arms around her, borne from fear, desperation and loneliness as the third was covering behind her legs.

"It'll be okay you guys." Celeste said quietly as she gently reached down and picked up the third child who couldn't have been more then a couple of years old, but her eyes said much about her life up to this point.

Celeste gently set the Ferasian child down on her lap. "For now...If nothing else, you three will come home with me... I hope Brianna is okay with this." she said quietly before she tapped her combadge. "Yamaguchi to Hobbs." she spoke. "I know its not the best of times but.. Could you come to my location please.. bring three blankets and three Caitian style lunches... You'll see when you get to me."

"Um...sure." Hobbs replied. Brianna wondered why she needed blankets and caitian style lunches. Was she planning some sort of odd picnic?. One never knew when it came to Celeste.

Celeste gently placed the infant down on the ground, before the infant curled up next to her feet as she gently peeled off one of the two children as she gently placed him on the ground. "Okay kits... its gonna be okay.."

Celeste regarded Hobbs who had just arrived. "Hey Brianna.. Meet Charon, Shandra and Kaleen." she indicated the male and two female children. "I was sitting here for a break and these three appeared near me."

Brianna put the supplies Celeste requested down. "So you go to the cargo hold to relax?"

"It was close to where I was working." Celeste responded. "and these three wanted company... so I figured why not."

The smallest regarded Brianna in silence, her dark eyes spoke much while the second female who looked about four or five. "Who r'e youu?" she asked softly.

The male Caitian was hiding behind her body while poking his head over her shoulder. "Kits, you can come out. Brianna will not hurt you.." she said softly.

The male did so while the second female was slower but she did likewise and the smallest however didn't move, so Celeste gently reached in and plucked her out from behind her legs, she then gently set the small child down on her lap. "There you go kits.. see, nothing to worry about."

"I can see why you wanted the blankets and the meals." she said. "Where are their parents?"

"We don't know..." Celeste wasn't sure and neither were any of the three children as the door opened and in walked a third adult. This one was much older as she nodded to Celeste. "Hey sweetie. I didn't know where you went so I thought to come look for you."

"Hey mom. I was just getting to know my three Caitian's." Celeste gingerly rose to her feet. "Mom... meet Brianna Hobbs." as Celeste quickly did the introductions. "Brianna this is Jessica Yamaguchi.."

Jessica instantly smiled. "Ahh.. I have heard of you Ms Hobbs." as she came over. "Marie spoke of you...."

"Hello Captain Yamaguchi." Brianna respectfully addressed Jessica.

"Jessica, please." the older woman smiled. "Family shouldn't use titles.." as she sat down next to Celeste. "Its good to see you sweetie.. How is the little one?"

"I'm doing alright mom..." Celeste responded with a smile. "The little guy is developing well... He has a name now."

"He does?" Jessica smile only widened. "Tell me?"

"Jackson." Celeste responded.

"Your great uncle would have be honored." Jessica smiled. "So.. Bree.. tell me a little about yourself... Marie said you had a sense of humor but little else... So I confess I got curious... I looked up with file but it didn't tell me what I really wanted to know."

Celeste regarded her mother. "Mom..." she said in a warning tone.

"You're getting married Celeste... so I should make en effort to know my future daughter in law." as she shifted her attention back to Hobbs who had a Caitian child watching her attentively.

"So...since it wasn't in my personnel file, what did you want to know?" Brianna tentatively asked.

Jessica regarded the other woman. "A little of everything really.." she responded. "How did you two meet?" she inquired.

"Um..." Brianna remembered all the sex that happened early in her relationship with Celeste and decided to be quiet. "Didn't Celeste explain that to you?"

"Celeste only told me she was dating you and the two of you were having a great time." Jessica responded evenly.

"It was more like we collided in the lounge." Celeste responded. "It was lunchtime and Brianna here ran me over.." she smiled. "I decided I needed a shower before lunch so... she opted to go with me and things kinda sorta happened from there... Besides it was great."

Jessica chuckled. "Y'know I like you Brianna."

"Thank you Jessica. I'm glad I'm on your good side." Brianna smiled. She gestured towards the Ferasian kits, "Meet the grandkids."

Jessica smiled. "Grandkids?" she inquired. "Good side of me.... wait. what??"

Celeste paused. "Well we still need to formally apply and sort things out for all concerned." she paused. "Well Marie told her you were ... ruthless and... protective." she paused. "Anyway... these are Charon, Shandra and Kaleen." she indicated the three children respectively.

Jessica sighed as she facepalmed. "Oh for crying out loud... Why do people tell such lies about me.."

"Because you are protective of your kin mom.."

"Not to that level... seriously.. I need to have a word with Marie." Jessica shook her head. "I intend no harm to you Brianna. You are getting married to my daughter which makes you family to me." she gave Brianna a warm smile as she explained.

Celeste gave Brianna a look. "Mom... Could you take these three in at your class. Brianna said I was to go with her for lunch and nothing shy of a planetary catastophie would prevent me from going."

Jessica smiled. "Of course." as she gently picked up the youngest of the three Ferasian kits, the other two picked themselves up as Celeste gently took Brianna's hand before she led the other woman out the door.

They exited into the sunlight and were over forty foot away before Celeste said anything. "Mom makes you nervous.. Dammit." she hissed quietly. "Trust my fucking sister to open her mouth.." Celeste sighed softly. "Anyway... I don't want you to think you need to take in orphans to make mom happy.. If we do take in any of these orphans... I want it to be you and me building our family... together... Which is why I'm not going to do it unless you and I are in total agreement.." she suddenly looked down. "Which is what... Mae'rel said to me." as she regarded Hobbs. "Now thats a long story."

Brianna let out a soft laugh. "I'm not afraid of your mother. I will admit I wasn't exactly sure what to expect given that she is your mother and from your family." Brianna then gently placed her head against Celeste's forehead. "Sometimes you lead with your heart. If you can't find these kits' parents then we will take them in."

Celeste took great comfort from the touch of her fiancee. "I was looking into the matter... to be honest but I wanted to talk it over with you first... Besides.. Mom likes you. She's not as bad as Marie made her out to be... I think Marie was screwing with you. It would be just like her to do it."

"Don't worry about your mother, we seem to get along just fine." Brianna told Celeste. "She will be on her way soon anyways. Now the kits, they are another story."

Celeste nodded her head. "Make sure you're available later. Dad is planning a barbecue and I'm sure everyone will be invited. Knowing Dad... He'll get several barbecues set up and try to feed every single person here... That would be just like Dad." she regarded Hobbs. "Cooking for several million people..."

Brianna shook her head. "You have the oddest family."

"It could always be worse." Celeste responded evenly. "Which you well know."

"Yes, I do know." Brianna replied. "More to the subject at hand, what are you doing to help find the parents of these kits?"

Celeste held up her medical kit. "I got samples from the kits in question and I'm going to add them to the system, see who these guys belong to.."

"Excellent." Brianna replied. "We'll find out who is their kin. Until then, we'll take them home."

Celeste regarded Brianna before she slowly nodded. "Alright..." she paused. "You think Pava and Pasha will be alright with this?"

"You mean they would be upset that your doing for these kits what you once did for them?" Brianna asked rhetorically. "If anything they should be happy that you want to adopt again."

Celeste paused. "Yeah... your right." she sighed. "Well... I got homework to do... assuming these guys want to come home with us." she responded. "Alright... I'm gonna go add these to the system and then we can take these three down to the resettlement center and see what they say to us."
