Mission:
Mission 57: The Northern Lights
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1100Hrs, December 31st 2391
Rykar observed on the sensors as a betazed royal yacht dropped out of warp and entered the area, prompting her to contact Teval and Zara.
"Teval, Zara, Tom, Matron Furban's ship has just arrived."
The only response that Teval gave was a low annoyed growl and he showed up on the bridge moments later.
Lasky was seated with Zara in his office, the two were sharing a small meal together. He swallowed the mouthful of food in his mouth as the com system beeped at them both.
Lasky regarded Zara as the news came in. He let out a soft sigh. "We're on our way." he paused a moment. "Zara... You got any ideas?"
"Besides accidentally sending her out an airlock? No." Zara finished her food as well, when the announcement came on.
"Alright... Lets head over to the bridge and see whats going on." Lasky responded. "I hope she doesn't start... because... if what I've heard of her is only half true... I'm going to want to kill her myself."
"And here I was, trying to be non-violent," Zara said with a half-grin.
"I know. Looks good on you." Lasky responded as he led the smaller woman out the door. "At last you are learning to stop thinking like a criminal. I'm sure our future children will like this." he regarded her as the two went down the hallway. "I heard that Saki has a thing for blades.... your doing I assume?"
"She tried to swipe some of my collection... Sorta decided to teach her how to use them," Zara explained gently. "She's gonna steal them anyway."
"Then we can cure that by getting her a knife she can keep... and we ask her mom to return the rest of them."
"Despite my fixation with blades... Kurt will not be near them until we both feel he's old enough," she assured him.
"Good." Lasky responded. "Elizabeth is almost due.." he sighed softly. "Another week or so."
"I'm glad we're going through this together," she spoke nervously. "I know you at least have had good examples."
"Well... My relationship with Elizabeth has been... complicated because I bedded her during the first Peeves incident.. then I bedded her mother not even a month later." he sighed softly. "Well Torilla bedded me."
"I love you, Tom." Zara did not say it often. It was new to her, after all. But she loved him none the less.
Lasky smiled down at her since she was much shorter then he was, he had not heard her saying that to him before. "Zara... I love you too." he responded quietly. "Even though its... been a wild ride."
Teval waited for Zara and Lasky to get on the bridge, and only seconds after they got on the bridge the comm system beeped, with Rykar reporting, "They are hailing us."
"Ping them with the loudest Klingon opera sound bite," Zara asked hopefully to Lasky.
Lasky nodded. "I have a few tracks of Klingon opera." he paused as he turned the console towards him. "Rykar?" he addressed the female at Operations. "Could you send them this file.. and then tell them we;'re having an issue with the com system?"
Teval interrupted," Rykar, just put them on screen, lets get this over with."
Rykar nodded and listen to Teval, putting Matron Furban on screen.
The facial shape was just like Nalla. But there was a refinery to Matron Furban's look. Wrinkles to declare her an elder of her people. Her posture was that of aristocracy.
"This is Matron Furban. I assume you have my quarters settled, Commodore Tane?" the matron spoke calmly.
"Yup!" Zara was deliberate in her inaccurate protocol as she stuffed her hands in her pockets and looked bored. "Though they might smell a bit... had to repaint it after the occupant got a little too wild."
"Just have your people ready to receive my in five minutes. Matron Furban out."
When the link was dead, Zara added, "Can someone toss a stink bomb in her quarters?"
Teval sighed, then commented. "I will not take part in that crusade, lets just get this BS over with." He then left the bridge going for the transporter room.
Lasky paused. "No. We'd best not... she's already going to be unreasonable and impossible, lets not make things harder for ourselves."
"True... I should check to see if her shower is optimal, all the same," Zara suggested casually as she followed them into the transporter room.
Lasky raised an eyebrow. "Zara..." he gave her a look. "Matron Furban will hang herself... No need to do it for her."
"I would never dream of hanging her," Zara spoke with mock shock. "Maybe turn her blue though..."
Teval just shook his head in annoyance as the transporter chief beamed over Matron Furban and her entourage over to the Roanoke.
Commander Lasky stood alongside everyone else as he regarded the woman that he knew Admiral Yamaguchi had sworn to kill. He did not envy Jake in that task in the least as he took notice of her looks, she had a certain elegance to her but she also had a certain malevolence about her too, or maybe that was just him overthinking it.
"Commodore," Matron Furban spoke imperiously. "I do not see Nalla here."
"Doctor Furban is hard to pry from her work, but she sends her regards." Zara of course lied. She had no intention of keeping Nalla in the lime light if she could help it.
"Ah. Well do inform her dinner is at eighteen-hundred. Diplomatic suite," the matron informed.
"I'll do that." Lasky responded lightly. "Would you like a brief tour?"
"That would be wonderful, thank you." Matron Furban smiled pleasantly to Lasky.
Teval was thankful that he had sent a cleanup crew through the diplomatic suite yesterday, as the suite was commonly used as a 'recreation room', for the crew. He just sincerely hoped no one would do anything stupid. Then he noticed something about what Matron furban was wearing. A real fur coat, and he could smell it. Already his own fur started standing up, and without thinking he let slip. "Is that a real fur coat?"
"It is. The Zar of Kilgran gave it to me as a gift. Supposed to be better than most winter coats on market," the statesman spoke with pride.
Teval really grew annoyed as his ears started to flatten and his fur stood up.
Lasky raised an eyebrow. "Come on skipper... we got a drill to run." he saw that Teval was rapidly losing his cool and while he was tempted to let Teval tear this vile woman a new one, he also knew better. "Remember... 1130Hrs. The weapons test you asked me to remind you about?".
Teval nodded, gave a low growl and quickly left the room.
Lasky raised an eyebrow. "This way... matron.. we will keep this brief..."
