Working the Bugs Out

Mission: Mission 57: The Northern Lights
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 12
Timeline: 0800Hrs - December 29th 2391

The USS Alaska, the newest ship to join Roanokes battlegroup, slipped into Port at Starbase 12, where numerous of Roanokes numerous destroyers where waiting. Follwing the Alaska was two of the newest light cruisers in the fleet, the Prinz Eugen and the Warsong.

Captain Teyo Kemoke, a Snow Leopard Type Caitian, looked at his still empty XO chair. He didn't have an XO right now, but at least he was due to get his security chief today. Teyo looked up at the door as John Sheridan walked into the bridge.

Commander John Sheridan looked around as he shifted his attention to the Commanding officer who was seated in the center seat. "Lieu-" he paused before he tried again. "Commander John Sheridan reporting for duty Captain."

Teyo nodded," Relax Commander. Welcome aboard, I apologize ahead of time but it may be some time before I get an XO so you will have to fill in in the meantime."

"Thats fine sir." Sheridan responded evenly. "Do you have any special rules or requirements for me to handle...?" he inquired. "I'll manage... somehow."

Teyo shook his head but mentioned," No, however fair warning, this ship does have mostly colder weather breed Caitians and Andorians on board, so the ship is set a little colder than normal, so don't be afraid to dress warm.

"Thank you.... I find it quite refreshing actually." Sheridan smiled. "I think I'm going to like it aboard this ship." he commented. "You have none of the..... How do i say this.... the... extra flavor that Roanoke had."

Teyo didn't really get it so he moved on to the mission briefing,
"Alright, well Alaska's first mission is that we will be doing a small exercise with the destroyer unit over the next week then we will join the battlegroup."

Sheridan made himself comfortable as he sat down in the Exec's chair on the right of the skipper. "Okay, sounds pretty routine... Will we show those girly mean the real meaning of power?" Sheridan inquired.

Teyo didn't know what to say to Sheridan's comment, instead he just gave Sheridan a very confused look.

Sheridan sighed softly. "I can see I got a lot of work to do here." he commented. "Anyway.. shall we show the new Destroyers why we will split them like gutted Targs?"

Iceclaw, the ships COB, commented. "I think you need to work on making better jokes."

Sheridan sighed. "Clearly.." he responded in a deadpan tone of voice while he thought he was serving with people who had no sense of humor whatsoever.

Meanwhile over on the USS Warsong. Lt Commander Michelle Kataguchi smiled as she regarded her new senior staff. "Lieutenant Tani, you'll be serving as my temporary executive officer as my new Exec hasn't arrived yet. Are you okay with that?"

"I will be fine Captain." Tani responded evenly, a smile on her lips.

"Alright." Kataguchi responded, her new staff and crew were quite an eclectic bunch, she had two Bolian females who were a couple, one Dranaei and an Orion in addition to the two Bajorans and a Caitian. "Well this girl is new, straight out of the shipyard and you've all been selected to be her crew. Her first crew who will set the tone for this ship and her history for all others who will ever serve on her.." she looked around as she spoke. "Those of you who don't want to go on that journey, I will not send you.... for the rest of you... I expect and demand your very best..." Kataguchi looked around as she smiled. "Are there any questions?"

Master Warrant Officer Siaxx McSterri was the one who asked. "When do we get underway skipper?" she paused. "That is..the human term right?"

Her wife was the first to nod her head as did a few others in agreement. "Yep thats correct and we leave in one hour... Dismissed everyone."

Meanwhile nearby on the USS Prinz Eugen. Commander Telios Wintersnow was seated at the head of the table on the observation lounge, while her senior staff came into the room. Soon they were all seated and ready as Telios regarded the crowd. "Alright. Now I know you were all expecting to serve on a Sovereign class ship but they are all presently being refitted up to Kelvin specifications."

"Lovely.." her executive officer responded with a sigh. "So... we're now going to serve on this ship... It should be interesting." Kristen McKnight commented in a deadpan tone of voice.

"Yes, well.. it could be worse.. right?" Gwen Parri commented with a smile as her wife smiled. "Yes, we could be serving on an Akira which got reclassified."

"Not as bad as the Sovereign which went from a battle cruiser to right out of the fleet, except as the Kelvin refit." Anjoli commented with a soft chuckle.

"Be that as it may... We get underway in two hours time... Will we be ready by then?" Telios inquired.

"Oh most certainly, the entire crew is already present and accounted for, medical is handling the last of the checks and the Ops staff report the last of the cargo has arrived.."

"Alright... Lets go to work and make this ship operational... dismissed." and with that everyone began filling out the door.
