Mission: Mission 54: Where Snow Meets Sky
Location: Various Locations - USS Argonne
Timeline: 1900Hrs - December 23rd, 2391

Fleet Master Chief Petty Officer Stephen McKnight regarded his wife with a gentle smile. "So... What happened exactly?" he was wearing a pair of jeans and a light grey t-shirt as he gently plucked their son from his wife's arms. "Let me hang onto him for a little while... You seem to be... busy as it is."

Daisy went to her room to change clothes. "Your grand offspring appeared and introduced himself. It was kinda awkward in the lounge so I invited them all to dinner."

Orthos smiled at his wife. "Ian and Ione are here?" he inquired.

Suddenly the doorbell beeped as Orthos regarded Daisy. "I'll get it" he said to his wife who was doubtlessly wearing very little. He went to the door and answered it, to find himself facing his grandson and his wife alongside his great granddaughter. "Hey guys.. come on in."

"Grandpa.. We didn't expect you."

"That was kinda the idea... Nobody expected me. Least of all your grandmother."

Daisy had changed into a simple tan frock and burgundy tights. "I'm not your grandmother. I'm you grandfather's wife or just plain Daisy." She told them as she came out of her room and sat on the couch to put her boots on.

The three adult McKnights all shared a look before they silently agreed with the lady of the house. "Alright." as Ione gently held her infant in her arms. "Are we late?" she inquired.

Orthos paused. "I got here about two hours ago... nobody told me whats going on." he responded before he gently accepted his great granddaughter from her mother. "Let me hold these two for a little while."

"Anyone want drinks before I start the dinner?" Daisy asked, her boots on and standing up. "I know I can use a glass of wine."

All three of the McKnights nodded. "I'll just have a glass of water please." Orthos commented. "I'll have whatever you're drinking." Ian added a moment later. "I've never tried Earth wines before... Only Bajoran and Andorian ones..... I tried a Tellerite one which had me puking my guts up for hours... don't drink Tellerite Gut-twisters... you'll be praying for death."

"This is a gentle pinot grigio." Daisy told him. "It shouldn't be to hard on your system."

Ione smiled. "Now that sounds good." she responded.

Orthos regarded his wife as he gently slid his arms around her from behind. "No... I'm making the dinner... you sit back and relax.. Get to know them..." he said quietly so only she would hear him.

"Alright, thank you." Daisy replied in a hushed tone. "While I was helping evacuate the colony I was bitten by an odd spider. I've been feeling odd lately and tomorrow I need to go to sick bay."

Ione was many things but she wasn't stupid, she came over before she gently liberated the two babies from their grandfather. "Let me have them..." she commented as she first took her daughter and then she took the second child from his father.

"You handle that. I got this." Ione added with a smile before she went into the living area so she could fuss over the caring and feeding of babies.

Orthos smiled before he shifted his attention back to his wife. "You sure you're gonna be okay?" he inquired of Daisy.

Daisy smiled at Orthos. "I'm going to be just fine. I'm just feeling a little under the weather. Dr. Anjou will give me an antibody and I'll be better. Now, we have guests to entertain." Daisy turned and went back into the living room.

"So how are you two enjoying the Battlegroup?" Daisy asked them.

Ian McKnight was sipping his drink. "Its different from what we were led to believe."

Ione McKnight smiled. "Indeed." she responded as she polished off her drink. "You are ... not what I was expecting Major." she addressed Daisy. "I was.... expecting.. well.. more of the... uummm." she stopped.

Ian McKnight finished it for her. "We were expecting the stereotypical Klingon female."

"I'm so glad I was wrong." Ione added.

Orthos meanwhile was in the kitchen as he poked his head out. "You two need to get out of the office more and meet new people more... Trust me.. It helps to keep an open mind." he added with a smile. "When I finish. I will tell you how my blushing bride and I met."

Daisy laughed, "Yes, your grandfather tells the story better. I don't think I was what he was expecting. I know I wasn't expecting Orthos to be who he was."

"Nope." and with that Orthos retreated into the kitchen, thankful that a misunderstanding had been prevented. "Alright... Lets see... How do I make omlettessss again." he asked himself.

Ian McKnight overheard his grandfather before he sighed. "I think he's trolling you."

"I heard that... jackass!" came Orthos's voice.

Daisy just smirked. "Some how I doubt Orthos forgot how to cook. He is rather good at it."

"I heard that too.." came Orthos's voice as he selected the items he wanted and went to work. Ian McKnight chuckled softly. "Dad spoke quite highly of you, said that you were not what he expected... I can see why he said it."

"It certainly wasn't what I expected." Daisy replied.

Ione smiled as she gently held both children in her arms. "Your little guy looks sleepy... Mine does too... got anywhere for these two to sleep?" she inquired.

"Over there is a bed I have on the floor. It should be big enough for both of them." Daisy told her.

Ione went over before she gently set the two children down and moments later they were asleep next to each other. The younger woman gently sat back down in her chair. "I should have gotten a babysitter for Mackenzie in all honesty."

"Why, they seem me to be content?" Daisy asked.

"I wasn't expecting them to get along... Mackenzie tends to be fussy at times.." Ione responded. "Maybe its the company.." she paused. "Who knows." she then shrugged as she closed her eyes. "Dad didn't say much about you.... " she admitted. "Just said you were not what people expected. Aunts Julia and Mary both spoke well of you...."

"I'm glad to hear that." Daisy replied, only having a vague memory of who the two women are. "I'm glad to see both of them being content."

"They were expecting you to be a walking rage case.." Ian responded. "Even Greatmother T'Sara spoke highly of you... so much so that I didn't know if she was pulling my leg or not."

"The raging Klingon is something of a stereotype." Daisy replied. "Albeit in some was earned it does only apply to a minority of Klingons."

Orthos smiled but he elected to keep his thoughts to himself as he knew just how Klingon like his wife could be.

The two younger McKnights regarded Daisy. "Neither of us have ever served with any Klingons.."

Orthos pushed the second of four omelettes he was making onto a plate. "Well. Its like dealing with anyone who isn't human, they have their own standards, their own morals and they expect to be respected because of the fact that they are not like you." he explained. "Take Daisy here... She's not from Earth..or from Kronos.. She is from a lovely little colony world called Korcyria Colony in the Alpha Vulpeculae system."

Ione McKnight paused. "I've never heard of it."

Ian McKnight regarded Daisy Rohr-McKnight. "Whats it like there?"

Daisy smiled at Orthos. "I'm glad you remembered." She then turned to Ian. "The colony was more of a campus for scientist and engineers. There was some agriculture too but you can imagine the two groups really didn't have much in common."

Ian smiled. "I can imagine." he responded as Orthos poked his head out. "Dinner is almost ready... Egg omelettes with bacon, sausages and extra cheese."

The two younger McKnights both shared a look before they smiled. "Sounds lovely." Ione responded.

"Don't worry, your grandfather is an excellent cook." Daisy told them. "Much better than me."

The two McKnight's chuckled. "Grandpa was cooking since before Dad was born." Ian responded with a smile. "I've yet to encounter a dish Dad called bad."

"On that note guys... dinner.. is ready." Orthos commented. "I made omelettes."

"Breakfast is the best dish anywhere." Ione responded as she rose to her feet.

"Any time of the day... or night." Ian clearly agreed with his wife.

"So how does Iason's cooking compare?" Daisy asked.

Orthos smiled. "He's a good chef.. He learned well."

Ione smiled but she accepted her plate of food without comment before she handed Ian his own plate of food.

Daisy looked around and made sure everyone had food before she took a few bites. "If anyone needs any more wine or something else, please let me know."

The three McKnights all nodded as they all settled in to eat. "Mmm.." Ian smiled as he took a bite of his food.

"Yes it is." Daisy replied. "That is why I keep him around."

Orthos regarded his wife as he looked almost amused. "Humph!"

The two younger McKnights both thought this was hilarious. "and here I was thinking that Grandpa was getting old."

"I am.." Orthos responded with a smile. "Growing old is mandatory, growing up... now thats optional."

"Sadly, not an option exercised by all." Daisy chimed in. "Food is great as per usual."

"What can I say... I have my father to thank.." Orthos responded.

"Your dad liked to cook?" Ione inquired.

"No. He hated it... So he left that chore to me, he was good at cleaning up... but he couldn't cook to save his life." Orthos explained. "Mom was an expert with salads and... that was it.."

"Good thing your grandfather is a quick study." Daisy told them. "Otherwise, you would have grown up savoring the bland cuisine in the replicators."

Orthos sighed dramaticly. "You see what I must put up with whenever Eward and myself come to visit."

"Heh.. sounds like you two have quite the relationship." Ian responded. "I confess I assumed you were the stereotypical Klingon. I apologize."

"No need to apologize Ian." Daisy replied. "Every time I transfer ships other crew ask my were my bat'leth is or that they don't have fresh gagh on board."

"I still recall the medical specialist almost begging you not to hurt him as he misplaced your bags when you and I had that two day stay at the Turhan Palace Resort." Orthos grinned.

"Yes, I remember." Daisy grimaced. "They had already called the local police force advising them they had a raging Klingon in the hotel."

Ione smiled as she leaned forward. "Go on?"

"Well... Daisy was told her baggage was missing and so she stands there and just looks at him but she doesn't say anything."

"Really?"

"That was the beauty of it all. Daisy here does not move from that spot... so when the security guards show up expecting a rampaging Klingon on the loose, the manager points to Daisy... the lead guard comes over and asks if everything is alright..."

"and then?"

Orthos regarded Daisy. "Tell them."

"They pointed their phasers at me and asked your grandfather if I was assaulting him." Daisy told them. "Can you believe that?"

Ian shook his head. "Unbelievable."

Orthos chuckled softly. "I asked him if he was insane... Why would my wife assault me on our vacation." he inquired. "One could almost see the steam coming out of her ears though."

"Oh yeah, I was really pissed off." Daisy added. "But the best part is that your grandfather explained everything the security detachment didn't believe him. They asked him if he was just telling them everything is okay because I intimidated him."

"Now that was when I finally got annoyed." Orthos responded. "Son. Do I look like the lady is intimidating me!" he added and the response I get is "Well.. yes.". That was when I face-palmed and also keep in mind that Daisy had not moved, she just looked annoyed."

Ian smiled. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to see this lovely fuckup of an operation."

"Yeah. Someone had a very serious case of Operator head space and timing error." Orthos responded. "The lady behind the desk inquired. "Why would the lady be intimidating her boyfriend. Now that makes no sense to me"

Ione raised an eyebrow. "So the truth came out?"

"Something like that." Orthos responded. "So I said to the manager so was trying to keep things calm in the lobby with these three security goons pointing their weapons at Daisy here. 'My girlfriend and I wanted a weekend getaway while our ship was resupplying."

Ione chuckled softly. "And?"

Orthos smiled as he regarded Daisy, before he raised an eyebrow as if asking her in silence to carry on the story.

"At this point I was so frustrated I began to cry." Daisy stated sheepishly. "It had been a stressful deployment and I was just exhausted and all i wanted to do was unwind. The guards were confused as they didn't think Klingons could cry."

"That was when I finally decided enough was enough." Orthos explained. "I called the manager over and demanded her bags or else I would go on the rampage.. and what the lady would do... would be nothing compared to what I would do."

Ian nodded. "Had that been us... I would have done the same."

"We found Daisy's bags quickly though... turns out someone had already moved them to our room and neglected to tell the guys behind the desk. So.. once I had the bags... I called the Shadow to beam us both up... then I found another hotel down the beach that had space available. Needless to say we had a great time... after we get things sorted out."

"Yes we did." Daisy replied. "One of the best vacations of my life."

Ione chuckled softly. "I can well imagine."

Orthos smiled. "What... Daisy here was intrested in hanging out at the pool and I would not deny her... besides, we wanted to sit back let the men admire her from afar and drink a few drinks while soaking up some sun."

Ian chuckled softly. "How did the men find looking at you?" he inquired of Daisy.

"I honestly didn't notice them." Daisy replied. "Besides, I usually get enough attention for looking too Klingon."

"Well there was this one Vulcan woman who was envious.... of you, she wanted me." Orthos explained. "Its... yeah.."

"Oh? Do tell us now that you decided to bring it up." Daisy remarked now that her interest was piqued.

"What can I say... We were at dinner that first night and she was giving me 'the look'." he responded. "She decided to come over and I could tell that she was weeks away from her pon far... so I had to disappoint her."

Ione chuckled. "I bet she didn't take no for an answer."

"Not right away." Orthos responded

"Oh do tell. You started this now you must finish it." Daisy told Orthos.

"Well this Vulcan woman... T'Liss was her name, she was rather pushy over the fact... she was going on about how it was logical that I go with her and not Daisy... Since she was my girlfriend at the time."

Ian McKnight raised an eyebrow. "She sounded like one of those xenophobic types."

"She was a bit." Orthos responded evenly. "In the end. However I had to mention it to the front desk and the Vulcan was asked to depart the hotel."

"Never knew that happened." Daisy told Orthos.

"I never thought it worth mentioning... You were distracted and you wanted to unwind so.... I decided not to bother you with it." Orthos responded evenly before he took a bite of his food.

Daisy had already finished her food. "That makes sense. Thank you for cooking a wonderful meal."

Orthos smiled. "I aim to please... Besides.. my meals are often simple.... Its the best way really."

"Mmm.. Yeah." Ione responded with a smile.

Daisy just smiled and looked on as the family enjoyed a good meal.
