Mission: Mission 54: Where Snow Meets Sky
Location: Various Locations - USS Argonne
Timeline: 0800Hrs - December 23rd, 2391

Corporal Ian McKnight was on his way to report in to his new Commanding Officer, he was wearing his gear on his back over the top of a standard issue set of armor plating that he often wore. He went into the armory where he came across four other marines and as luck would have it, he was not the most junior man there.

He instead gave his best salute to the female Major who he recalled from somewhere but wasn't sure of where. "Corporal Ian McKnight ma'am." he introduced himself while he waited for her to return his salute. "I'm assigned to the second battalion." he added.

Private Massi Sh'zaleern grinned as she regarded him. "MMmmmm Handsome." she gave McKnight the once over.

McKnight regarded the Andorian who was hitting on him. "Maybe later."

Daisy returned his salute. "Welcome aboard the Argonne. I'm not sure where you were posted last but you don't have to wear your armor all the time." She told him still not making the last name collection.

"My last posting... The people were very... formal." McKnight explained. "I was just turning in my armor before I reported in along with my new batch of decanted meat shields." he paused to let the joke sink in. "Permission to speak freely?"

"Always Corporal, unless you piss me off." Daisy told him.

McKnight raised an eyebrow, clearly she was not what he had been expecting. "Orthos says 'Hello'." he slowly smiled. "I have taken up too much of your time as it is sir." McKnight added a moment later, clearly indicating he did not wish to tarry.

The other private had a mystified look on her face. "Orthos... What kind of a name is that?"

Daisy raised her eyebrows. "I don't know there are marines stationed on Watchman Station?"

"There are not at the present time." McKnight responded before he paused as he shifted his attention to the Andorian. "Orthos is my grandfather. Its his Vulcan name.... You would know his name better as Stephen McKnight." McKnight sighed.

"No help there."

"Thats because he presently holds the rank of Fleet Master Chief Petty Officer and is the senior NCO for IFO." McKnight sounded almost like he didn't want to be sharing this information.

"Wait... you are related to him... He used to-"

"I know... serve here as this ships Chief of the Boat.." McKnight almost growled as he let out a sigh. "Major. He asked me to hand deliver an item to you... I can see this is a bad time... May I drop it off later?"

Daisy was confused. "Wait, let's go back. Orthos is your grandfather? Okay, than who is your father?"

"Captain Iason McKnight." Ian responded evenly. "My grandfathers eldest... and you've met him before.... He mentioned you to me." McKnight explained.

"So your Iason's son?" Daisy thought for a moment, clearly her mind was having a hard time comprehending what Ian was saying.

"Yes." McKnight responded. "Orthos is my grandfather.." he added.

Daisy nodded her head in agreement even though she still hadn't grasped the concept. "Good, glad to have you aboard."

McKnight sighed softly. "You are... well my grandmother." as the door opened and in walked Ione McKnight, she blinked her eyes as she frowned, this had the comical effect of pushing her Bajoran nose ridges together. "Whats going on?"

"Ione... Meet Major Daisy McKnight.... Our grandmother"

"Sir." the younger McKnight snapped to attention before she saluted the older woman.

Daisy was uncomfortable with all the formality, especially given that they are in laws. "Hello, Ione. Listen, why don't we meet for dinner tonight and we can get this all sorted out in a more comfortable setting?"

Ian nodded. "I'd like that." he responded. "I'd best go and check in." before he turned and departed, leaving Ione looking at her step-grandmother. "What time si-errr Major?" she inquired. "You can meet Mackenzie at the same time.."

"Yes, of course." Daisy told him. "Until then enjoy the Argonne."

"Thank you." she paused, clearly unsure how to address her step-grandmother. "Umm Major."

"Sir or Major until you add a little more rank Ensign." Daisy smiled at her. "Or Daisy when we are off duty."

"Yessir." Ione McKnight responded. "I only came looking for my husband... I'd best go check in." she explained why she was here. "By your leave?" she added a moment later.

"Yes, please." Daisy responded with a small smile. "I look forward to tonight."

"As do I." and with that Ione turned and departed in silence.
