Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 0900Hrs - June 28th, 2393

Fleet Captain Torilla Yamaguchi was seated in the office she was borrowing from the command staff of the starbase. She was not sure of what she was even doing here on the Starbase other than raising her two natural born children and the four Caitian kits she had adopted, she also had Noble Team to look after and they were more then a few shades of demanding and if all of that wasn't enough, the older Halanan female had the two King Shepherd dogs with her too.

Yamaguchi craned her neck from side to side a few times, she was rewarded with a loud snapping sound as she let out a soft moan, sometimes it was the little things in life that were a help to her. Paul and Tressa were in their first year of school which was a great help to Torilla and Jake as it means that someone else could watch the kids and educate them at the same time.

Yamaguchi sighed softly as she unzipped her uniform jacket as she shrugged it off, she was overheating. "Computer keep this office five degrees cooler then human normal. " she requested.

"Please specify temperature scale to be used." the computer responded in its usual bland tone.

"Oh." Yamaguchi sighed softly. "Celcius," she added. "I'm tired of roasting like a cooked pig."

"Please restate request." the computer answered, assuming she was talking to the system.

"Enough computer, shut up already," Yamaguchi answered in a rather annoyed tone of voice. Yamaguchi was looking after paperwork for Fleet Admiral Duval while she waited for Starfleet command to decide what they were going to do and what they were not going to do with Torilla. Her medical issues had now all been cured so she was waiting for her next assignment and her medical leave was more or less over, she was due in for several checks at once a week intervals, she had four of them in all over the next month while various medical personnel would continue to poke and prod her. However, Yamaguchi, had one big thing going for her, it was that Lt Commander Galiaan Fordring would be handling all of the various medical examinations of her, as Yamaguchi had the option to select whom she wanted to handle it, she did and she had selected Galiaan Fordring.

Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow as she regarded the dog who was curled up at her feet, she had forgotten that Grey Wind was asleep as she had assumed that he had been asleep on her bed as he suddenly woke up as she nudged him with her boot. "Oh..." Yamaguchi said quietly. "Go back to sleep baby," she added in a gentle tone as she ran her fingers through the fur behind the ears of the dog.

The com system beeped at her a moment later. "Operations to Captain Yamaguichi." came the voice of her twin.

Yamaguchi tapped her combadge. "Yeah Plataea, what's up?" she asked the woman who was her from another reality but for those who didn't know, the two simply said that the two women were twins, the both of them came from one egg in their mother's womb. It was better than the truth and it was also a story that both Torilla and Plataea prefered rather than a truth that both women saw as an inconvenience.

The com system beeped at her. "Operations to Yamaguchi?" came the voice of her twin who was seated at her post, Yamaguchi could picture her twin, her dark complected body who was now quite pregnant with her third child except this one was her second pregnancy with Tom Lasky, seated at her station, working on ten things in order of priority. Yamaguchi smiled as she tapped her combadge. "Go ahead Plataea. What's up?"

"You have an incoming hail from the Ninty second fleets chief of staff. Admiral Kingsley would like a moment of your time."

The name didn't ring any bells but she was suddenly glad this was not Admiral St John as he was still a part of Independent Fleet Operations who had been reassigned elsewhere, where exactly that was. Yamaguchi didn't know and nor did she care about it either.

"Go ahead and route the call down here. I'll take it in my office, right now."

"Okay, patching him through to you now." came Lasky's response.

Yamaguchi tapped her display once, this activated the system right as the call she had not been expecting had been placed to her. Admiral Kingsley's face appeared, he was wearing his uniform while being seated in an office much like her own. "Captain Yamaguchi. Did I catch you at a bad time?" he smiled warmly at her as he sat forward in his chair.

"No, of course not Admiral, what can I do for you?" Yamaguchi inquired, a gentle smile on her face as she was thinking that he could want something from her that she wasn't prepared to part with.

"Well as you know, we have a major shortage of skilled carrier commanders and I have several ships in need of commanding officers. USS Grey Wolf among them."

Yamaguchi was curious, it showed. "What ships do you have open Admiral.?" she inquired.

Kingsley lifted a PADD as he rattled off the names of six Champion class carriers, two Vishal's, one Viraat and three Vikrant's. "I am fully prepared to offer you any one of them, simply because I've read your file and Starfleet has great need of skippers with your caliber," he explained, really hoping that she would accept his offer and not screw with him.

Yamaguchi regarded Kingsley, she didn't deny her heart wanted this, also she knew that opportunities didn't come very often. She nodded her head. "Sounds good Admiral. If it is okay by you, I'll take the Grey Wolf."

"Outstanding Captain," Kingsley answered with a grin. "Division Admiral Sildra Vaxx-Warfield will be the commander for Division Four. The Ninty Second's Carrier Wing," he explained. "Will that be an issue for you?"

"Not in the slightest Admiral," Yamaguchi answered. "I'll need to see what Executive Officers are available and start there."

"No need for that Capt'n. I took the liberty of selecting the half-dozen who are presently sitting at your Starbase. Will you be taking any of your family along?"

Yamaguchi recognized the question for what it was, she shook her head. "No. My children all have their own postings and Jake will manage without me. Siaxx needs the Exec time the Starbase will give her so I won't be taking her either." she explained. "No My family do not need their mom around. Besides, the demands of my family do wear on me at times. You'd never hear me saying that around them of course." she smiled as she decided a thank you was in order. "Thank you, Admiral, for the reminder."

"I read your file Torilla, you didn't really need the reminder but I wanted to give you one all the same," Kingsley answered. "I apologize if I caused offense?"

"No offense was taken, Admiral. I am not so easily upset or distracted."

Kingsley was happy with his choice. "Excellent Captain. I'll make you down as the new commander of the Grey Wolf, she's in for final fitting out and your new Chief of Operations will be delivering her to you on the Starbase, several of your positions are not yet picked so I will allow you to handle that as you see fit. I am sending the relevant information on a subchannel." he added.

Yamaguchi picked up a PADD before she connected it to the terminal she was presently using, as she smiled, the files were downloaded from the system and onto the PADD. "I have them. I'll give this the once over and put together my dream team for the Grey Wolf."

"Outstanding. You have a month to handle things because the Grey Wolf will be along to collect you on August the first. Do you have any questions?"

"I'm sure I will later sir. But I have none right now."

"Very well, when you do, contact me and I'll answer them as best as I can. Thank you, Captain."

"Thank you, Admiral." Yamaguchi smiled at him. "Kingsley out." and with that, the screen went black as he hung up on her, the Federation wreath appeared as she lifted the PADD and went to work on who her first officer would be. She missed her old crew from the USS Courageous and had she not died, she would still be out in the field commanding her old crew but they were all doing well under the present leadership of Javier Morales, she wished him well as Yamaguchi quickly went over the list, she had a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it, so she resolved to get started right away.
