Placebos for my Concerns

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 0800Hrs - June 22nd - 2393

Staff Warrant Officer Rachael Yamaguchi-Cullen knew she had duty the next morning as she rose from her bed at the appointed time, the infants needed changing and feeding. Rachael blinked as she palmed blindly in the dark for her combadge. "Ripcord to .." she paused as she considered who to call. "First Squadron, Ninty Second Wing Ops center?"

"Go ahead Warrant." came an unfamiliar voice.

"I'm gonna be late guys. I have a problem that needed to be handled but let Razor know I'll be in once I drop the kids off at daycare and that's after I get a medical check for them. I have concerns I must address first."

"Copy that Warrant. I'll let him know you have a situation and have him call you with any questions okay?" came the response.

"Thanks. Yamaguchi-Cullen out." and with that, the com system went silent as Rachael activated the lights in her quarters. Taffy was in her own quarters this morning which Rachael was quietly thankful for. She rose to her feet before she began to don her clothing very quickly, when suddenly one of the two infants began crying, demanding Rachael's attention right now, when the other one joined its sibling.

Rachael had gotten good at telling her children apart by the sounds of their cries but these two were unknown and unfamiliar to her, she couldn't tell who was who as she moved into the bedroom. She noticed that T'Ree seemed the most distressed so Rachael gently tended to her first, checking if the small child was alright and then she quickly saw that it was her diaper that needed changing so she gently carried the infant into the next room. She gently placed the small child onto the table before she began changing her diaper, moments later she was finished and then she repeated the process with Hysre.

Rachael was not sure if the children would take to her, as she personally nursed her children at her breasts, she decided to try it as she peeled off her shirt and bra before she gently lifted Hysre to her chest, he began feeding quickly as Rachael smiled, she remembered how this issue was done except Rachael knew that her milk was different to Tienn's milk, and that was assuming that Tienn nursed her children like this, if she didn't and she bottle fed them then that was something else.

Hysre nursed until he was sated and then Rachael repeated the process with T'Ree. She endured the infants being demanding in silence as Rachael knew how this system worked, she could tell that these two were on the older side of nursing and she would be able to stop nursing them soon. This was not a concern at the present time as she quickly donned her clothing for the second time this morning before she gently bundled up her two children before she gently picked them both up and out the door she went with her two infants in her arms.

Rachael hitched a ride on a turbolift with a half a dozen other people, two of the others began to fuss over her and the children, it was something Rachael had gotten used to with the twins and she endured it today in silence. The doors opened as Rachael smiled, she stepped off the lift before she moved into the hospital, her appointment was coming up shortly and she did not wish to be late.

"Hey, can I help your warrant?" the nurse at the desk asked.

"Uhh yes, Hi," Rachael commented, suddenly feeling stupid. "I'm here for my ummm 8 AM appointment to get these two little ones looked at. I do not wish to see Lieutenant Commander Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar on conflict of interest grounds, she is my elder sister."

"Okay, I can handle that, if you would be so kind as to take a seat, I will call someone for you."

"Thank you." Rachael then went over to one of the chairs before she sat down, her two babies in her arms while she settled in to wait for one of the Doctors, her request would be answered with a female doctor she did not know who appeared a few minutes later. "Rachael Yamaguchi-Cullen?" the tall female inquired.

Rachael nodded. "Yeah. That's me."

"I'm Calliope Pravdin-Burgoyne. Follow me please and I can tend to your concerns," she explained with a smile.

Racheal rose to her feet and she followed the handsome looking female into the labyrinth of offices and medical examination rooms, she knew this place well enough from her sibling who worked here on a daily basis. She arrived at her destination shortly as Pravdin-Burgoyne entered an office, Rachael followed her inside. "Have a seat and let's see what I can do for you?"

"Okay." Rachael smiled as she gently sat down in the chair. Still holding onto the two infants in her arms. "I want a full medical workup done on these two little guys. I am presently fostering them both and I expect to be for a long time to come, I want to make sure that all is well with them, I do not like surprises, its because their parents are feuding and I want Tienn to get her head outta her ass."

"Tienn. As in Tienn Iteela?." Pravdin-Burgoyne's surprise was telling as Rachael winced. "I didn't ... I should have said anything. Yes, these are Tienn Iteela's babies." the shorter female explained. "

"I see." Pravdin-Burgoyne's tone indicated that she did not see, this was of no consequence to Rachael. "It's a long story, and it's not my place to speak of it anyway." she paused. "Sorry Doctor."

"That's fine. I'll pester Tienn about it later." Pravdin-Burgoyne answered. "Clearly something has gone wrong between her and Nebris."

"As I said, I'm not allowed to talk about it." Rachael's tone was heavy with pain and regret. "I miss my own babies and my husband... I'm once again cleaning up, after those two."

"Well, stick me down for babysitting duty if it gets to be too much okay?" Pravdin-Burgoyne responded with a cheery smile, she placed her medkit onto the tabletop beside her. Rachael gently placed the infants down on the tabletop next to the Doctor.

Pravdin-Burgoyne reached for her tricorder as she began checking the two infants. "Well. I have good news for you. They are in excellent health if a little tired." she explained with a smile. "Some sleep for them will fix that and I can help babysit for you, should you want it. I babysit for Tienn often. But if you ask me, the problem between her and Nebris isn't these two alone, the main issue is her dogs. They do not like Nebris at all."

"Tienn is going to have to change something." Rachael agreed with a nod. "If she wants to keep Nebris then she needs to clean up her act... I know plenty of women in my wing who would find Nebris to be quite a catch. Smoke. Firefly, Viking and Crater. Among many others."

"I'll let Tienn know to get her head back in the game," Pravdin-Burgoyne responded. "Don't worry, I promise to be gentle. I learned how from your sister." the tall female then grinned. "Besides. Elizabeth is a good teacher and I make it a point to listen to her. Give her my regards will you?"

"I will." Rachael then grinned. "I'll take these two little guys down to daycare and I need to go see my squadron commander. So I can bring him up to speed on recent events." Rachael gently picked up the two infants in her arms again. "Thank you, Doctor."

"You're welcome Ms. Yamaguchi-Cullen. I will update your paperwork as needed." Pravdin-Burgoyne answered, right before Rachael departed the office in silence.
