It's Not Right But It's Okay

Posted on Mon Mar 2nd, 2020 @ 11:31pm by Division Admiral Thomas Lasky & Lieutenant Commander Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar & Company Sergeant Major Jeffery "The Mountain" Duval

Mission: Mission 49: The Stars Look Down
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1800Hrs - November 10th, 2391

Commander Tom Lasky was sitting in the Green Dragon wearing civilian clothing as he lifted his drink to his lips, before he downed a mouthful of the clear liquid within, one could be forgiven for thinking that it was vodka or something alcoholic but instead it was water as he was presently considering what he wanted for his evening meal.

The door opened and in walked Lieutenant JG Elizabeth Yamaguchi, now wearing the maternity version of the Starfleet uniform, she spotted her quarry as she made her way over towards him, she nodded to Sergeant Major Duval who came over. "Ms Yamaguchi.... Well, y'know people keep telling me that space is vast... and yet you are gracing us with your presence. What can I get for you?"

Elizabeth was almost amused with the Sergeant Major's statement as she had not expected this sort of a greeting in all honesty. "Just a plate of fries with some gravy please.. The Commander and I need to chat."

"Ahh work related issues then. I'll leave you two... to chat."

Elizabeth couldn't work up the energy to tell the man it was neither work nor pleasure as Lasky chuckled softly. "I guess that one way to put it."

"Yes." Elizabeth responded. "I'm seven months along now..." she let out a sigh. "Considering what happened a week ago... I'm surprised you are letting me out of your sight."

Lasky regarded her in silence while she spoke, he took the time to marshal his thoughts into something more then just rage and muscle. "Elizabeth, you don't need to be coddled, you also don't need a babysitter... What happened a week ago was not your fault but you were affected by it, at least it was your husband who did the deed with you... not some random stranger." he explained, he wanted to ask about Kameron but he decided not to, it was a distraction from the original topic of conversation at hand.

Elizabeth knew full well of where Lasky spoke, as sex with a pregnant woman sometimes came with various issues, the woman in question needed to know the issues and she needed to be careful as she could quite easily pull something or tear something or cause herself any number of issues while being pregnant. "Yes, I know... Commander Yamaguchi gave me a stern talking to.... Which is rather strange because she's pregnant herself."

Lasky knew this already as he inquired. "How is Celeste Yamaguchi doing these days?"

"She's coping with ... what she has.." Elizabeth paused only a moment in her response, the average guy would simply shrug it off as nothing but Lasky knew better, the pause was saying something in itself.

Lasky regarded the woman who was half his age. "It'll be okay Elizabeth... I know what happened.." he explained.

Elizabeth blinked her brown eyes as she regarded him. "How?"

"You forget that you added me as the child's father dear.." Lasky smiled at her. "Celeste was just honoring my request, considering your issue recently."

"Huh.... Oh... I did?" she paused, her loss of memory bothered her as she frowned. "I I honestly can't remember." Yamaguchi admitted.

"It'll be okay Elizabeth, these symptoms are normal in pregnancies, its just hitting you a little harder then most." Lasky explained with a smile. "Besides... I brought you something while I was on the starbase. I saw it and I thought of you wearing Klingon armor... I have no idea why though." he paused as he produced the item in question. it looked heavy and it was wrapped in wrapping paper colored a gentle blue color. "Feel free... open it."

Elizabeth blinked as she wondered how she had missed this, before she gently ripped off the wrapping paper as she revealed the item in question. it was a large book with an almost featureless cover which was black and had one word inscribed across the front of it. "qeS'a'. Its original author was unknown but many attributed the works of Kahless himself yet Elizabeth knew that this was inaccurate. The term 'qeS'a' was roughly translated as 'the indispensable advice' or 'The Klingon Art of War.'

Elizabeth's eyes drank in the features of the simple book which looked to be about six hundred pages thick as she shifted her attention. "Thank you Tom, I will treasure this.." she said softly as she gently picked up the book.

"I hope you find uses for it."

"Uses?" Elizabeth inquired. "What..?" she looked confused.

Lasky smiled as he gently placed a hand on her shoulder, in truth she was young enough to be his daughter. His relationship with this young woman was already very complex and complicated as he considered her a friend and at times, the child he never had. "The art of war... Its not just a set of rules... Its a philosophy and its tenants can be used by anyone in any situation at any time and any place.. You can use the truths contained between those pages in your own life."

"Nice!" Elizabeth responded. "I'm going to enjoy studying this... I'll also download a PADD so I can read it while I'm having a soak in the tub." she added.

Lasky chuckled softly. "Don't have too much fun... " he responded. "If only I could get Zara to read this."

"I know you've been patient with her...." Yamaguchi paused. "Oh all the people you could have settled form, I never once thought it would be her." the taller then average woman admitted. "I... I didn't see it coming."

"Thats alright sweetie. Neither did I." Lasky responded with a smile. "Besides.. Zara has taken to the martial arts with a passion that you must see to believe."

"Is your offer to train me still open?" Elizabeth inquired.

"It is... Do you want me to train you in the sciences?"

"I do." Elizabeth responded. "Well.. After I've had this little guy. He has all the space he wants and room service on tap." she sighed softly. "If nothing else. This pregnancy has been educational for me.... " as she smiled warmly at him. "Its good that mom gave him to me." her smile started to fade as she spoke. "Considering what we've all been through over the last several months.."

"You couldn't have known what was going to happen, neither did your mother... None of us could have anticipated what would happen after I.... had gotten her with child."

Yamaguchi regarded Lasky. "You think this little guy is a mistake?"

"No." Lasky answer was strong as he responded to her unspoken challenge without hesitation. "For me to say that would be wrong on so many levels... It would also be insulting to you're mother... and to you."

"Fair enough... This little one might have had bad timing on when he came into the world but we will make so... right?" she inquired of Lasky.

"I will see it so." Lasky responded as he regarded her. "What say we order our food?"

"Yah, that sounds good." Elizabeth responded as they both waved down a waiter who came over. "Yes gentle-beings, are you prepared?"

"Yes." Elizabeth then proceeded to place her dinner order before Lasky waited to do the same, she ordered a plate of fries with a simple cheeseburger while Lasky had a plate of french fries mixed in with chili and cheese, both meals were extremely unhealthy but then they both ate well through the course of the day, him eating a sandwich and a drink for lunch with her eating a vegetable salad.

They both settled in to wait for their meals.
