Kicking up Dirt

Posted on Mon Mar 2nd, 2020 @ 11:11pm by Captain Marcus Duval & Lieutenant Commander Ajal Yamaguchi

Mission: Mission 49: The Stars Look Down
Location: Various Locations - USS Spirit of Winter
Timeline: 1300Hrs - November 9th 2391

Lieutenant Ajal approached the transporter room that was her destination, she had a pack on her back and one small case in her left hand while she walked, the doors to the transporter room opened at her approach, she entered the room as she turned her attention to the transporter operator behind the console. "Lieutenant." he nodded to her.

She nodded back. "Is the Spirit of Winter in range?" before she added a moment later. "Is all prepared?" He nodded. "Yessir. I got your clearances and they are expecting you."

Ajal nodded. "Thank you."

"Of course sir... Good Luck aboard her." he responded, clearly not afraid of a Klingon wearing a starfleet uniform at all.

Ajal smiled as she stepped up to the platform, while a thought went through her mind that she would soon be reunited with Autumn, she'd kept track of the smaller human over the last few years and the two had remained in touch ever since Autumn had left the Hurgh'maS three years earlier. Now she was on her way to reunite with a rather specific human woman who's company she had missed a great deal. "Stand by for transport."

Ajal nodded her head while she waited, moments later the transporter effect lay its claim to her as it dematerialized her from the starbase where she was beamed onto the Spirit of Winter. facing her was the
human male who was to be her new boss. "Welcome aboard Lieutenant."

"Thank you sir." Ajal responded with a smile on her face. "I look forward to working with you, I keep hearing all sorts of interesting things about this ship and her tech."

"None about her crew, I'm almost disappointed." Duval rumbled.

Ajal was unsure of what to say to that as the complexities of human emotions escaped her at times so she nodded. "I guess so sir."

Duval nodded, he figured that he had lost her but then she wasn't the bombastic type which he had been half expecting and half dreading. "Alright, head on down to the quartermasters office and find out where you live, then go get situated, tomorrow you're working alpha watch with me... I want to see how you handle life in a Starfleet engine room before I cut you loose."

"Yessir. Tomorrow at Oh eight hundred then." she didn't even fight with him on those terms as he had been expecting.

Duval nodded. "Well... I umm... I will let you go get settled in..." he responded for lack of anything really better to say on the matter.

"Thank you sir." Ajal responded simply. "By your leave?"

"Again welcome aboard Lieutenant." he regarded her. "On your way." and with that he turned and departed the transporter room before she copuld more a muscle to do the same. "Autumn... I hope you are well." Ajal said quietly while she picked up her case before following the Chief Engineer out of the transporter room. he looked left then right as she came to a stop before turning to the right, moving to the end of the hall she tapped the turbolift display, which indicated to the system that someone here wanted a turboloft for whatever reason.

The doors opened moments later, she entered the empty turbolift as a smile graced her lips. "Computer locate the quartermasters office."

"The office indicated is on deck six, section thirty three."

"Take me there." Ajal responded as she lifted her carry-case from her left hand over to her right hand to alleviate the weight on her left hand, all the while the lift sped ti its destination as it hurtled to the location as requested, the doors opened and out stepped the Klingon woman in a starfleet uniform, she found herself facing two Starfleet others, one of who was enlisted, wearing the rank of Petty Second Class and the other was a an Ensign who looked like he was about age twelve.

Ajal smiled. "Hello." she greeted them as they stood aside for her, since she outranked them both. "Thank you." and with that she went on her way as she caught what they said. "Did you see-" and "Do you believe-". The closing door cut off what the rest of both men said to each other.

The doors to the quartermasters office opened moments later as she entered. "Lo humans... I am Ajal. I will protect you from insane holograms and computer glitches.." she announced herself, wanting to see what sort of a reaction she could elicit.

The three people in the room all looked at each other. "While we appreciate your efforts... Um... It's... really not that necessary.." the Bajoran woman responded. "We do alright." the Andorian Chan responded. "Your statement is illogical, We are in no need of protection." the Vulcan woman responded, their usual humor was as dry as everything else about them.

Ajal sighed. "At least you do not wish to pick fights with me."

The Vulcan woman looked perplexed as she chewed on that one as the Bajoran shrugged. "Fight you... No

thank you Lieutenant, I don't want to add Brawling and disorderly to my rap sheet." she then smiled. "Drink with you... that i'll be happy to do... in any event, welcome aboard.. You are Ajal?"

"I am she. Yes." Ajal responded as she received a PADD from the Bajoran woman who pushed her rather thick ponytail off of her shoulders. "You are billeted in Quarters on Deck seven. Section Forty two."

"Thank you." Ajal responded. "I will tend to matters... I hope nobody made any special arrangements for me.."

"You're an exchange officer right?"

"I hope to become a permanent one soon enough." Ajal responded with a smile. "I have no nee to go back to the empire that practices casual brutality and uses death as a punishment." she explained. "I much prefer working among happy people... Which.. up to this point, Starfleet officers seem like they are what I want in life."

The Bajoran woman blinked her eyes. "Wow... that statement was brain breaking."

"Good." Ajal responded with a soft chuckle.

The other two people also chuckled softly as the Vulcan nodded. "Then I bid you welcome and offer you peace and long life, may you find both."

"I will endeavour to try Vulcan." Ajal responded before she turned and departed the area.
