The Harbinger Sphere

Posted on Mon Mar 2nd, 2020 @ 11:12pm by Commander Autumn Yamaguchi & Lieutenant Commander Ajal Yamaguchi

Mission: Mission 49: The Stars Look Down
Location: Various Locations - USS Spirit of Winter
Timeline: 1330Hrs November 9th 2391

Lieutenant Ajal reached her next destination, a second turbolift and once more she tapped the call button while she settled in to wait for her ride. Meanwhile the object of her thoughts and desires was busy assisting someone with an issue. Ensign James Lazarus was her patient and she was in a right angry mood, if the glare he gave the woman who was about half his size was any indication.

Autumn Yamaguchi regarded him with a good degree of patience and a graceful amount of tact. "Okay... So.. What did you say to your department officer?"

"'Yes, Sir!. Absolutely. I'll get on it immediately!'" quoted Lazarus, in a rather mocking tone.

Yamaguchi sighed softly but she tried t keep it down, she tried not to dislike this assignment but she was really starting to hate being a therapist, she much prefered being a Doctor as she had three degrees in some of the various medical sciences. She tipped her head forward with raised brow, "And what were your exact thoughts at that moment?"

"Honestly?." Lazarus sighed then he decided. 'Fuck, it. Go all in.'." he paused a moment. "I was thinking 'Are you out of your goddamned MIND? How can you be so fucking dense!'" He growled as he balled up his fists, "I've tried again and again and again to get people to see that the procedure is wacked! But EXperts wrote the manual! What do IIIeeee know?". Lazard caught himself right at the last second, he inhaled deeply before he closed his eyes and then exhaled, he inhaled again, foxing himself to slow down with his breathing, thus forcing himself to calm down. The small woman before him was not the one who had set him off like this but he didn't like that he was on the carpet for striking a superior asshole. "I'm sorry, Sir."

Yamaguchi slowly smiled. "Tell me something... Would you like to throw something?"

"What?" Lazarus was caught completely off guard by the question."That accomplishes nothing. When it's all done, whatever you threw is broken, and you get put on report for unstable behavior."

Yamaguchi's tone was gentle and soothing. ""But would you like to?"

Lazarus did not see this one coming, so he shrugged and decided to be blunt about it. "Sure, I would love to!"

"Why?" Yamaguchi inquired, a knowing smile on her lips.

"Because it's honest! All that 'Yes sir, everything's fine... we're a happy team' is a big, fat lie!" Lazarus was seething, eager to put his rage to good use.

"Words can't express what you feel so... physical force works instead?" Yamaguchi responded with a smile.

His eyes lit up, "Yes!"

Yamaguchi gave a shrugging nod and stood up, "Then I say, let's do it!" she responded, passion in her voice.

"What?"

Yamaguchi went over to her bookcase, where she picked up a sphere off of the shelf, along with the base that it rested on before she brought it back to her desk. "Hmh... It's a novelty I picked up on leisure planet Argolis... The vendor said it has rather strange properties." but what Autumn left unsaid was that she had bought a crate of them and two of them were stress relievers for herself, when she needed to work off some energy, she could pick one up and hurl it into the wall with all of her augmented strength which was more then twice a woman of her size.

Yamaguchi gently placed the small sphere into her hands. "What is it called?" Lazarus inquired.

"It is called... A Harbinger Sphere.." Yamaguchi smiled. "Feel free..." with her left hand she indicated the far wall.

"I... I can't..." he paused. "Its so.... purty.." he stared into the funny coloured liquid of the sphere as Yamaguchi smiled. "Here... allow me... to demonstrate." and with that she gently plucked it out of his hands and with all of her might, she hurled it against the wall, with a loud banging sound.

Lazarus looked at her in total astonishment and shock. "What the hell was that for!"

Yamaguchi nodded. "Observe." she indicated the large mess that she had single handedly created herself out of the one side of her office.

Very slowly, all of the shattered fragments and all of the liquid began to stream towards one collection point. With the smile of wondrous curiosity, the crew woman rose and knelt nearby for a closer watch. "It's not leaving any stains!"

Yamaguchi nodded. "Yep. Why do you think I kept it here."

Looking like a slow motion reversed video, the sphere slowly reformed and the liquid trickled up into it. At last, it finally sealed. Yamaguchi picked it up and put it back on its stand which doubled as its charger. He then picked up both and offered, "Here, this is yours."

"Oh no! I can't!"

"You need it more than I do." Yamaguchi responded. "I have various outlets for when I'm having a bad day.... you need this... trust me on that..."

Lazarus gently picked up the small sphere, a rather odd smile crossing his lips. "Its so..... purrty.." he responded.

"May I?" Lazarus sounded like a man who wanted to take something precious from someone who was never going to part with said item.

"Of course. If you throw it past its power charge, it works by ultra-violet light. Just shine a lamp on it." Yamaguchi explained. "Its easy to maintain."

A throw was followed by happy clapping as the spectacle repeated. After the sphere reformed once again, he smiled at her and slowly began to leave, "Thank you, Counselor. I think I'm going to be okay."

"James..."

Still examining her prize, she assured him, "Oh, we'll visit again. Thank you, Sir!" and with that he departed.

As his door closed with her on the outside, he heard her low voiced laugh. He slumped into a seat with a sigh, "What have I unleashed, here?" the small woman asked herself. "Computer time?" she asked the entity who was always present but was never around to be seen. "The time is fourteen hundred hours."

"Thank you." Yamaguchi rose to her feet as she went around her desk, she then sat down in her chair as she reached under the desk with her booted feet, she gently tapped a crate wit her boots before she drew it to her, she then cracked open the lid before producing a second Harbinger Sphere. "Heh heh.." she admitted softly to herself.
